Can’t wait dive with it again !

I’d been thinking of replacing my Mares Vector Chrome BDC with this Aqua Lung Pearl BCD (2013 Style) for over a year now and finally ordered it this for my B-day gift to myself. I liked my Mares that I’ve had for over 10 yrs because it fitted me well with the 3 straps adjustments in front . But it didn’t have integrated weights which meant I needed a weight belt and all the discomfort that come with it. Having lost a bit of weight I wanted a new one and the dive shop were I go (Who are als...

Excellent product. The XS is a perfect fit for me. Only wish it was as colorful as my last Aqua Lung BCD.

Perfect for the girls!

Having lost a bit of weight I wanted a new one and the dive shop were I go (Who are also my instructors) suggested this BCD because of the fit. My instructor uses it even over her dry suit and says she wouldn’t want another BCD as a woman diver. Just came back from my first dive trip with it and I am delighted by the comfort and ease of using it! Can’t wait for my next trip to dive with it again!

Great fit

By Scubastacey

I really like the fit and could easily transfer my air 2 from my old BCD to this one.

Missing some features...

By Ketty

I'm a new cold water diver with 25 dives. I bought this BC because I tried it in warm water on vacation and really liked it. I'm 5'5", 158 pounds, 32" waist and the small measurements fit me really well except my body weight was over the range of the sizing chart. For warm water diving this BC works fine (even despite my weight), but I just went diving in the PNW today and I found the lift to be insufficient! I felt like I was struggling to not drink water while surface swimming with the BC fully inflated. I'm going to return the small and size up to a medium with 4 pounds more lift so my face isn't so close to the water. The 28 pounds of lift was barely enough given I have 22 pounds in the BC itself and another 16 on my weight belt. Another thing is the inflator hose could be a bit longer or not so buoyant. It floats up to my neck while diving and sticks out at an awkward angle, making it cumbersome to find without looking down. I've accidentally grabbed the chest strap way too many times trying to dump air. I guess this is just something to get used to. 2 other things, the safety strap that goes over the tank valve is not adjustable so you're limited in how high up you want the BC to sit on the tank. The BC also doesn't have a handle to help you lift it over the tank easily. Other than those issues, this BC does really well with streamlining. I really love the octor pockets and was able to tuck all my instruments into them so I didn't have hoses tangled all over the place! If you're not a cold water diver, I would recommend.

Great BCD, but try it on first

By Jen

This is a nice BCD, pretty perfectly fitted for a woman. Using men's/unisex BCD's in the past, I always had an issue with them riding up. However I want to stress that you should really try this on at your LDS before purchasing online. I am normally an XL in most things (5'10 200lbs) - I tried on a M and found even with everything cinched all the way up it was still loose, so I got a small, and it has performed well. Plenty of room even with my 7mm wetsuit or a drysuit. It has a bunch of D rings for whatever you might want to clip to them, and roomy pockets.

This vest says it uses the Sure-Lock II weight system which has been recalled by Aqua Lung. Does this vest have the replacement weight pockets issued by Aqua Lung?

BEST ANSWER: Gee, your question was the first I had heard about this recall. My BC has the Sure-Lock weight system that apparently needs to be replaced. I think you'll need to talk to the Leisure Pro people to see if the ones they're selling now have the newer handles on them. Alternately, it sounds like any Aqua Lung dealer can handle the replacements.
Does knife come with bcd?
A shopper on Jul 5, 2015
BEST ANSWER: NO. But if I may offer a suggestion. I've been diving for 40 years (my wife for 30) and I've always carried a knife, everything from a couple of pounds strapped to the inside of my calf to my current 3 in attached to my BC. The ONLY reason I still carry a knife is for the LINE CUTTER. I like a flat, not pointed end, but that is personal choice, in my mind it is a limited tool but it might save your, or your buddy's life, choice carefully.
I hope that helps.

i am wondering what size to get?i'm very short 5' and have weight around my waist ,weigh about 180lb .i have tried a small pearl bcd on and what i like about it is the snug fit on my shoulders and that it is not to long so that i can get at my weight belt.
A shopper on Sep 9, 2014
BEST ANSWER: We bought this BC for my wife, who is 5'6" and 150lbs (but don't tell her I said that!). She had tried on a Small, and a ML. The Small would fit her, if adjusted nearly all the way out. The ML was too long. For her, the Medium fits perfectly. There is still plenty of adjustment to make it larger or smaller, and the length is just right. She says the BC is very comfortable, and she loves it.
Can you get this with Air 2?

My GF is 5'7", 125 lbs, 28 waist, 32 chest. She has a petite frame. Would you recommend XS or S?
Elias M on Sep 3, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I am 5'3", 125LBs, with a 32 chest and I purchased an XS back in May. It fits really well! It seemed snug at first because I was so use to wearing rental gear that is small unisex (and too big). I would say with a small frame like ours, XS is a good pick. Hope this helps.
Why is the chest strap so high (sits just under my throat), and can this be adjusted?
Chelle on Jul 26, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I was asked to assist you with your question since I bought the Pearl BC. Unfortunately I purchased my BC a couple of years ago and mine does not have the chest strap. :) sorry I could not help you with your question.

The sides of the BCD slide to the back even with the buckle closed in the front. What is the purpose of this? Seems like a mis-design!

BEST ANSWER: Adjustment for comfort
Is this the updated version or the discontinued version? The product description describes the discontinued version that comes with the sports bra but the picture shows the new redesigned version without the sports bra. Which one is this?
Angela A on Jun 12, 2017
BEST ANSWER: We are shipping the most current version.
