Excellent Vest for diving and snorkeling!

I ordered this vest for scuba diving in the Caribbean. I had this exact same vest before and used it for quite a few years. This vest is extremely high quality and it's perfect for scuba diving in warm water. The zipper closures are very secure, it's extremely comfortable to wear, and it does not affect your buoyancy that much. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking to either snorkel or scuba dive without risking a sunburn. Highly recommended for larger sizes as well.

Wet suit vest

By Sam T.

from West Hills, CA, US

Easy on and off. Works over or under wet suit. Adds warmth. I did get a small tear on the side seam, but could be that I ordered a size too small. Works well. Stores easily. small space requirements.

Not too much you can say about a vest. It's true to size and very comfortable. Great for when you need just a little something to ward off a chill.

exactly what I wanted

By patch87939

Needed a way to take the chill off the gym pool when it is too cold to tolerate. This vest does the job. I typically wear it for the first half of my swim then take it off and am warmed up enough to be comfortable. It is tight and the constriction was a bit uncomfortable at first but then I got used to it and learned how to breathe so that it wasn't an issue.

Sizes run small. Get at least one size larger than you normally wear.

Bought 2 - these provide additional warmth for water temps ~66-74 degree range for me (as a stand-alone). Arms are free for swimming, surfing, and windsurfing. Has stretchability, but if you are going to place over another wetsuit, I would recommend the next biggest size (I usually wear a size L for most items, and the XL was my best fit without a wetsuit underneath). The front zipper is convenient. Would be nice to have a tie down for board shorts, but overall happy with product and value.

Is this item just a vest for warmth or can it be used as a life jacket? Needs these for riding a wave runner and my kids hate the bulky life vests. Thanks!
LisaandJoe on Jun 11, 2018
BEST ANSWER: This is NOT a life Jacket. Safety first is my motto and also the law. Leisure pro does carry neoprene sky vests which are “Coast Guard approved flotation devices”. That is what you are looking for
I have a slight problem with boyancy (in the chest cavity). Will this suit aid me in fresh water for learning how to swim?
The_Cannonball on Nov 25, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I think so. I've not quantified the buoyancy, but maybe a pound or so, depending on size. May not seem like much, but it does make a significant difference.
I use one in the pool to help keep warm, and have one problem. The vest, being buoyant, tends to ride up, though a tighter fit might help. My solution was to add a simple crotch strap, back to front, to keep it in place.
My husband is a quadriplegic so he cannot regulate his body temperature. He does water therapy, but if the pool is below 91 degrees he gets too cold. Does anyone know if this would help him stay warm in an 87 degree pool? And my second question. He is 6ft 1 wiith a very large belly. Would this fit him, or are wet suit vests made for trim bodies. (His chest isn't over weight, just the belly.)
A shopper on Dec 2, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Fits big people. I measure 58", wear 6x. Vest stretches and could go down a size without it being tight. I use in swim pool. Because it's buoyant, it tends to ride up over time, so I sewed in a crotch strap to keep it in place, and that works well.
Because his chest is smaller in comparison, there is opportunity for more water flow in this area, and that can affect body warmth.
It would still keep him warm, but enough, I don't know. Depends how long he is in the water. My pool stints are 2 hours, and I use only in colder weather in outdoor pool. Keeps me nice and warm the whole time, but my situation is different, and it's mostly the cold air that I am fighting.
This is fairly light weight vest, and much heavier ones are available.
I am 6'5" weighing 290 lbs. What size should I get?
A shopper on Mar 11, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Always I these run a little small. I like the ability to have a little extra room so it is binding. I am 5'5", 235. I wear a 48 in a dress suit. I bought a 2X and it fits fine.
How true do sizes run? I am a little under 5'10" and weigh 170 lbs, which seems at the border between medium and large. Thanks!
Bill H on Mar 29, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I am the same height with an additional 35 lbs. The large was just right. Snug but not too tight. If you like your wet suit a little loose...you might go with the large. If you want snug fit then maybe the medium is more appropriate to your need.
Does it provide UV protection?
milton o on Jul 17, 2014
BEST ANSWER: It does offer UV protection or at least I have yet to get any tan on my white torso from multiple dives this summer.
Hi,
I see this item is listed as "New-Not in stock yet". What is the difference between this (newer version?) one, and the ones that Scuba and Amazon have in stock that have been available for a couple of years now? All three are the XSPAN version, and look to be identical.
Thanks in advance.
Don B on Jan 25, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Manufacturers come out with different versions frequently. Newer design is cosmetic differences really.
