Excellent quality

Bought this BC for my 16 year old son, two check out dives and he is pleased. The weight pockets are a unique design, takes a minute to familiarize.

I Always dive mares

It's not what I originally ordered. After buying a different mares bcd I was emailed and told the no longer had what I ordered and sent me this one instead. It was worth more than what I originally ordered but does not have a cumberbund and the spine isn't the foldable backpack style I originally ordered. The new integrated weight system is nice and it's lightweight.

Replaced my Mares MRS PEGASES

By robert g.

from Lexington, KY, US

I love the integrated weight system of the Mares BCDs. Once I get used to them, I will not use anything else. D rings are placed in good positions to clip in gear to stream line for better buoyancy. Works well on boat dives and shore dives. Drift dives are very smooth with place to clip on SMB.

Open water recreational

By Belinda B.

This BCD works great. It is open and allows for free movement. The balance is also good. Would recommend for any recreational diver.

Excellent BCD!!!

By John J.

from Albuquerque, NM, US

Excellent BCD!!! Pure SLS is well built and high quality. I own the Mares Dragon for teaching students. It is also well built and high quality. My other back inflate BCD was showing wear and required occasional repairs. I was looking for the best back inflate BCD that had all the options I didn't have on my other BCD. A marriage of freedom movement, comfort, function, high reliability, bullet proof construction, w/ tech rich features. I chose the Mares Pure. The Pure works better than advertised. Buoyancy is easily achieved and maintained. The design and fit are perfect. I'm 6' 1", 210 lbs and a large fits perfect. It is streamlined w/ minimal drag, again well designed. The weight pockets positively lock and indicate so. Bottom Line: Mares Pure BCD, Awesome fit, quality, features, dives well, and great price from Leisure Pro!!!!!

Good

I like it. Fits well. Only complaint is that many dive operators don't have soft weights so I sometimes end up wearing a weight belt too.

Great BCD Buy

By CHRISTOPHER C.

This is great BCD, especially for the price. It was delivered very quickly and packaged well. I couldn’t be more pleased with my first buy from LiesurePro!

Eazy Diving

By Paul S.

It is light and comfortable. It takes a while to learn how to insert the weight bags into their pockets and lock them. Overall a 5 star rating is appropriate and fair. For the price, I will definitely without reservation, I will recommend it to others. I already have two individual who requested information about the BCD. Consider it seriously.

I like the ergonomic features of this BDC. Very comfortable and I do a lot of work diving. The BCD gives me freedom to work and has several convenient attachment points and good zipper pockets with ease of access. I recommend this BCD highly.

What is the difference between the Pure and Bolt BCDs? The only difference I can see in the pictures is that the Bolt has a cummerbund and the Pure does not.

BEST ANSWER: I own the pure and the only difference I saw was the mentioned above about the cumberbund vs. The belt. The other is the back bracing on the pure is a mono plate so there is a polymer spine with the shoulder straps attached at the top of the spine and the waist with the belt is attached at the bottom of the spine. There is no support in between the top and bottom. The bold has a lumbar sup port system that runs up the hole rear of the bc connecting top and bottom supporting the entire back. Hope this helps
Is the integrated weight system able to be removed? I despise integrated weights and while I like the BC previous versions of this allowed one to remove the entire system, not just the zippered weight sleeves. Curious if the entire pocket system can be removed from the BC. Thanks

BEST ANSWER: Yes They Come Off The BC. I just got back from my first dive with this BC, i removed the weight pockets and put them on a weight belt so they can be still used but not on the BC. this makes it ez to put your tank and BC on and you can take your weight belt off before you start to climb the ladder on boat dives. but remember this BC is a back inflate type so it does try to push your face down when you surface after your dive and you making your way back to the boat. I like it because it works great underwater and i don't mind swimming with my face down back to the ladder you can watch the other divers so you don't bump into each other. Was in St. Lucia for a week 16 Dives and it worked Great.
Any way to move the trim pockets higher on the BC or even attach them to the tank band to get them a little higher for better trim?
Bob S on May 6, 2017
BEST ANSWER: With a little work, you can remove the trim pockets and place them on the tank bands. I don't believe you could move them higher (shoulders for example). However, there are a slots on each side at the top of the back plate that you may be able to add a strap for the trim pockets, but unsure about comfort. Great BC though, lightweight and very functional.
Do you need to add weight pockets on the tank strap when using this BCD to prevent face planting at the surface or are the provided trim pockets at the sides enough to prevent a face plant?
A shopper on Aug 31, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I am using this system daily to teach and dive with. I use 1 kg in each of the back pockets that are not "quick release" and 1 kg in the front quick release pocket. The key is to not fill up the bladder 100%. You will only need to add 2 blips of air to make your self buoyant. If you do add a lot of air, just kick your self to your back and you should be fine. I love this BCD and will probably re-buy again once it takes a wound. At present, I have over 600 dives on it and it is a workhorse. Good Luck.
Does anyone know the differences between thr new Pure BCD and the previous version? One feature I believe is the swival chest straps but are there any other differences or new features?
A shopper on Mar 24, 2017
BEST ANSWER: This BC has a new integrated weight system. I have both BCDs and the Pure SLS BCD is the better of the two. The new integrated weight system is great and easy to use. The weight system can be removed to reduce weight for travel if you don't mind using a weight belt.
How many tank bands does the Mares Pure SLS BCD have? What locking mechanism do they use?
KEN G on May 20, 2019
BEST ANSWER: The Mares Pure SLS BCD has two straps, one 2 inches wide located 8 inches down from neck that hand tightens. The second strap is the primary tank strap- located midway in the back- 3 inches wide with metal d ring fastener and rubber grip threaded into the loop to secure the tank against slippage when it is tightened and clamped into the backplate, strap end velcros around the tank out of the way.
I ordered the BCD in size XXL, and it came with size S (9 pd) weight pockets, which limits me when diving with cold water equipment. LPro lists that this size should come with 13pd L-size pockets. I ordered size L pockets, and they were 2 inches too long to fit. According to Mares, all sizes of the Pure are equipped with S pockets?! So, can anyone who has ordered a M-XXL Pure tell me whether they got L size pockets or not?
Tom on Sep 3, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I ordered the M and got the small pockets. When I ordered replacements they sent the large even though the order clearly said small. They replaced them within a week
The large looks like the closet match - can someone validate that it will fit me? I'm 6-4, 185 lbs with a 43in chest and 36 in hips. I'm concerned it will be too short, as well as not tighten up enough on cumberbund.
Eric K on Jul 16, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I am 6 ft. 175. Chest 42. Waist 33. It fits me perfect. There is ability to loosen it a good bit so you should be fine. I have had mine for 2 yrs. It functions fine
