The best I tried

I have owned these fins for a couple of years now, before that I used the Mares Avanti Tre (a weaker, cheaper version) for freediving and spearfishing. Prior to shelling out more than a hundred bucks I decided to go scientific about it. I purchased: an Esclapez with a plastic blade, a [$] fiber Omer Pegaso and compared them with Avanti Tre and Quattro. Esclapez had an excellent footpocket but it was a mismatch with a plastic blade that felt like something out of place. Omer had a universal fo...

Not a true freediving fin!

I bought these to use as travel fins since they're a full 6" shorter than my freediving fins. The blade flexes too close to the tip so you can't get that nice sine-wave bend that makes a good ascent/descent fin. I imagine it would work fine for underwater hockey or SCUBA, especially when collecting or carrying a lot of gear. They run a full size larger than my Avanti HP's too so I had to wear neoprene socks. The heel tabs dig in to my Achilles so booties were a good thing. Mares build qu...

New fins

By chris b.

from St. Thomas, VI, VI

I had a pair of these before - but just wore them out over 15 years.

Great for power but also perfect for frog kick and precision

By Diana P.

These fins are perfect for the diver who wants power to navigate currents and long and/or quick swims. They were also quite easy to do all types of frog kicks with. They are a bit heavy but quite versatile.

nothing but the besy

By John Y.

from Boston, MA, US

Started diving back in the late 70's . Had been using Mares products for a long time, This is my fourth pair of fins from Mares. Just out grow them, the Mares Avanti work very well for me. The Avanti Quattro take very little effort to kicks. But gave me power as needed

Mares Avanti Quattro

By MUNNO R.

bought these full footies for Palau liveaboard trip. was the only diver as powerful as the divemasters, with their long/stiff free diver fins, in ripping currents. very efficient power transfer from foot to blade. comfortable foot pocket & heel. excellent fin. first pair of full-foot fins since 70s. glad I waited for these.

Mares Quattro power fins kick butt

By Stephen I.

from Troutdale, OR, US

I bought these for underwater hockey, and couldn't be more pleased. They accelerate much better than my avantis and perform better than I thought they would. Problem is, everybody else playing hockey with these things cut about two inches or so off the top to enable better maneuvering. I haven't been able to convince myself to self modify 150$ fins. Anybody got some old used ones? I'll give ya 50 bucks

Best fins I've ever had

By Kristina K.

from Lexington, VA, US

This is the second pair of fins I've owned. I was hesitant to buy full foot. ( I am a dive instructor so a comfortable pair, easy to get into, is very important) I Love these fins. Not only are they very comfortable but they are superb underwater. Great for swimming in a current. I can easily out swim anyone, which is great when I need to swim after a student :) Another bonus is that they are great for snorkelling. My previous fins were full foot and I hated snorkelling with them. I like that these are good all around fins. I will be buying some 3mm socks just because I will be in slightly cooler water (24'C) but using them in warm water above 25'C they are fine as is. can't recommend these fins enough.

Really Nice Full Footed Fins

By MICHAEL B.

Beware: Do not get this if you have narrow feet. If you wear shoe size 13-14, not have narrow feet then this fin size 11-12 will fit well. If you wear shoe size 12-13 then it is bit loose even with aqua socks on. It is loose as in "wobble" around as it can come off if you kick hard. But, why would you wear aqua socks since it defeats purpose of wearing this full footed fin barefoot?!? Honestly, I had to return these fins because it does not fit me right. I wanted these fins so I do not have to bring booties when I dive some place warm or swim/dive in a pool. The fins were way too long and heavy for my traveling needs. I have the Mares XTreme (very light with regular length) and Hollis F2 fins (short in size). These are really nice set of fins once it fits your foot right!! The fins feels similar to Mares Xtreme but bit longer. It is stiff and not flimsy at all! You can see these are powerful fins due to how it is made. The fins are quite long similar to free dive fins but not as long but bit wider. If you are traveling with them then you might be limited to what might fit in your luggage or bag. The fins were slight heavy around 4-5lbs. It just might take away your luggage weight allowance! It is really great quality product!!!! I was impressed!!!

Fantastic Fin

By diverchick

I have owned my pair of Avanti Quattro Power FF fins for over 12 years. They are outstanding to this day. I used them primarily for boat diving since not wearing a boot is required - long walks over a reef or along a beach would suck barefoot. I have to be honest, the initial phase of breaking these bad boys in was so painful. However, it was not too long before I completely forgot about the blisters and discomfort (yes, while diving) and just enjoyed my dives. I used the Mares Quattro Open Heel fins to teach, but if I could get away with these FF fins, I will pick them every time. They are comfy without socks, fairly easy to slip on and off - I can usually do it standing up at the edge of the dive platform on a boat right before giant striding into the clear, blue water of the Pacific. If you are new to these fins, don't be discouraged with the blistering break-in process...these fins are worth every waterproof blister bandaid you will ever buy. 1000% worth it.

YES, I would purchase these fins again!

Prompt delivery.

Excellent fins.

By Azuloceano

This is the best model of fins as far as I know, for warm up to 50 degrees water. They are good for scuba diving (very fast and efficient) and also for snorkeling and for free diving to a certain degree. I can swim very fast with them even carrying a tank in my back and a big video camera.

Avanti Quattro Power Rocks!

By JEFF H.

My friends wearing these were swimming up current with relative ease, while I was just kicking and kicking with my fairly rigid but split jet fins (which I loved for 15 years). Now I feel like I'm kicking barefoot with my old fins on. Definitely takes some leg muscles…often us newbies will cramp while building up the slightly different muscles used with this type of fin. Also takes some practice and getting used to…and requires extra caution in the reef not to kick anything or stir up the silt due to their length and power

Mares Avanti Quattro

By Hecdiver

I use these fins whenever diving from a boat. Very fast and comfortable, lightweight and best fins I've ever used.

Best fin for warm water

By Citycountryguy

Efficient, powerful fins. Use less air when using these fins. Neutral, they may feel and look a bit long, but you don't notice that in the water except for their efficiency. Don't hang them by their heels, will damage the foot pocket.

Favorite fins.

By OTTER

I dive professionally in the Florida Keys. These are my favorite fins. They have become hard to find. Hopefully Mares will keep making them!

Full foot pocket and long, stiff blade combine to give a good top speed with decent acceleration for underwater hockey play.

Great fin and fit for playing Underwater Hockey. Most worn fin for the sport at this time at tournament. Soft ,comfortable and good balance between a good quick kick and a high speed sprint. Rarely do I get blisters. Have used this style and brand of fin for 7 years

I wear 9-9.5 men's shoes, what size should i get?
A shopper on Jun 20, 2012
BEST ANSWER: In my experience all the mares fins run a bit big. It depends on if you plan on running a sock of any kind with these. I have the 9.5-10.5 size in these fins, and I routinely buy 10-10.5 shoes US size. When I wear mine with a 3mm neoprene sock they are perfect. When I go in with just the fins they still fit, but they are a bit loose and you notice when kicking firmly. For you I would suggest you undersize a bit. And remember if they dont fit, leisure pro will change them out for you. Awesome fins by the way. A nice size that gets you the extra power without being a full length free diving fin. Buy a size down to start. Good Luck.
Hello,

I was happy to see Mares finally added a larger 11-12 size to Quattro Power line. I typically wear a size 11-12 fin, as always seem to fit nicely on my US size 13 foot. However, there seems to be some confusion whether, or not, these sizes are US or UK. In any event, my main question is: Will these fit comfortably on a US size 13 foot?

Thanks,
Andrew
Andrew on May 4, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Hi Andrew,

The Mares Avanti Quattro PowerFull Foot Long Blade Fins run big. I wear size 9 1/2 shoes but I use the 6 1/2 - 7 1/2 size of these fins with 2.5 mm Cressi neoprene booties for a very comfortable fit. I imagine that the 11- 12 fins will fit a size 13 foot, and you'll probably have room for a bootie too!

Leisurepro is very good about allowing returns if they don't fit, but I'll bet you'll do well with the 11 - 12 size fin.

Good luck! These are great fins, and I'm still using them almost every week over a year after buying them.
I currently have the Mares Avanti tre, is the foot pocket and sizing the same as these fins?
JASON S on Aug 5, 2013
BEST ANSWER: These fit for me like the other Mares fins, a bit undersized. If you intend to wear a neoprene sock with these then order your correct size. If your going to wear these barefoot, then drop down a size. I wear a size 10 shoe, and the 8-9 fit well with a little stretch for warm water. If your diving cold water with these then get your correct size and should fit well with a 3-5mm Neoprene Sock.
I wear 9.5 ~ 10 Wide shoe and have high arches. Which fin size this product would work best for me with which size sock or booty?
James C on Mar 1, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Hi James,

I have feet slightly smaller than yours. I wear a size 9.5 medium width shoe and I have slightly flat feet! I found the smallest size of the the Mares Avanti Quattro Power full fool long blade fin fit me perfectly if I used a cressi 2.5 mm soft bootie with it.

It sounds to me like you might need the medium sized fin to fit your foot, and still have some room for a bootie, which I highly recommend to avoid foot chafing or abrasions on long swims or for underwater hockey.

I've had these fins for over a year now, and use them quite a lot both in the ocean and in pools and I love them!
How heavy are these? will travel with them so as light as possible

BEST ANSWER: Avanti Quattro Powers are pretty heavy fins - both to cary and to swim. I find that after a hour or so in the water, ankles really start getting tired, based on how flutter speed.
I was hoping to get some advice on sizing. I wear an 8.5-9 womens shoe and am not sure if the 6.5-7.5 which is the smallest these come in may still be too big. Any advice from other females who have bought these already?
A shopper on Oct 22, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I will try to offer you advice! First, I was unaware that women's sizing was offered! I'm a 10.5 in men's shoes but for these fins I order an 8-9 because the 9.5-10.5 is quite large and I end up stretching the 8-9 pockets out anyway! I'm sorry but all I can really offer you is that the sizes run large on the men's sizes! I hope that this makes your decision a little easier and I don't know if I would risk it cause they're not cheap!
I am a woman's size 8. What size fins do I buy?
A shopper on Oct 22, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I would recommend 6.5-7.5 for you. However, it is the smallest size and they may still be too large. As an option you can wear it with a neoprene sock to fill some room and add comfort, if needed.
I tried 2 6.6-7.5 full foot and found the newer camp was a little looser in the foot than the older black model of the same size.
Is this because of manufacturing date or do black run smaller than camp in the same size?
A shopper on Jun 2, 2019
BEST ANSWER: probably be a little play inside the fin you can always accommodate that by adding a booty to it .if you scuba diver freedive with those fins on long-term during the day you're going to want to have a booty in there
What's the difference in blade size between the Avanti Quattro Power and the Avanti Quattro Power Pure Instinct?
LUCAS X on Aug 8, 2016
BEST ANSWER: No difference. Exact same fin. Pure Instinct is Mares' Spearfishing website.
My footsize is 250mm. Which size is Best?
Ying-Ku L on Sep 5, 2015
BEST ANSWER: My footsize is 2450 mm. I use 40/41.
What is the total length of these fins?
A shopper on May 24, 2011
BEST ANSWER: The fins are appx. 28 inches long (varies a bit depending on size).
Do you wear your boots plus these fins or not? If so, will the size number of the fin already considers that you have a boot on?
A shopper on May 24, 2011
BEST ANSWER: You can wear them with boots if you choose. Many people wear them just bare foot or with dive socks. The fin sizing is sized without boots.
Hi guys, returning customer here. Question: what's the length of these fins? thanks.
