Great for lobster

By Bill W.

from somewhere, PA, US

Bought 3 to replace the 1 I'd lost. Airline bag fee was the same for 1 or 3. Like another review I also use mine for Lobster in the Abacos (Bahamas). The thing I really like is the tampered design. Most poles are straight, which allows any type of hand hold to slip. 4 tie-wraps (about 1" apart) covered with some duct tape and I've a perfect hand-hold (the spacing works well for my fingers) that can't slide up the pole as it gets 'fatter'. I do recommend getting a tip with a shaft of at least 3-4". Otherwise your target may bump up against the body of the pole and not clear the barb.

has a great feel

By gofisg22

I will be useing this in the Keys

Love it

By Emilio

Love it. Very lightweight, nice soft sling travel. Just in case, get some gloves. Repetitve use is tough on wet hands.

Did get a chance to use it though!!!

By Jamie

Bought this along with the JBL 6'fixed polespear for our trip to Pensacola Fl. Got down there and too many jelly fishing on the bay side to use it didn't even try on the gulf side because of fishing laws (can't use with 500yrds of a public beach). Gonna take it out to Beaver Lake AR soon and try it on catfish!!! I did get a chance to play with it though in the sand and dirt. This thing packs a punch that would take down a nice fish!!! GOOD ADVICE: research state fishing laws when you start your research to purchase any spearing device.

Good polespeatr for the money

By Slimman

Very good spear for the money. Rugged aluminum construction with minimal flex. Shaft fills with water to increase weight/power, and is negatively buoyant so you can lay it on the bottom, if you need both hands. Would have liked to have a threaded, removable end cap for easier sling adjustment/replacement(like on the breakdown/travel version)but all in all, a very good and hardy tool for the money

great for beginner

By Pole S.

Bought a speargun and found a pole spear to be more effective for shallow water reefs where prey is smaller. Good weapon for beginner. It also sinks so you can lay it down when on the bottom.

What tip should I use for flounder above 18 inches?
A shopper on Dec 3, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Best tip that Lesiure Pro carries for flounder is the JBL8666 3-tined rake tip. If not the JBL tip Lesiure Pro carries other rake tips.

Most European rake tips come in M7 thread so make sure it will match up with your JBL'S thread. JBL Polespear's come with M6 or M7 male thread. M6 is most common.

This style works very well wilh flat fish. Good holding power and control.

Use teflon tape or loctite thread locker to keep tip on the spear.
looking for a spear gun to hunt lobsters on green turtle key this summer. I'm pretty sure this is the type my friends use. is it? what about tips?
A shopper on Jun 2, 2013
BEST ANSWER: Check local regulations. I don't know the rules where you're from, but where I dive in California take of lobster is by hand only. If that's the case I recommend buying a nice pair of gardening gloves. But If its legal in your area, this spear will be perfect with a jbl 3 prong paralyzer tip. Happy hunting my friend.
What heads fit this. What is the part number?
A shopper on Jul 30, 2018
BEST ANSWER: It is 6mm male threaded. As such it will work with any 6mm female threaded spearheads. We recommend using a Paralyzer or Barbed Paralyzer.
Should I get 6mm or 7mm paralyzer tip?
Dr. Mr. Tusk on May 5, 2016
BEST ANSWER: 6mm for this Pole Spear.
