Tip has design issues

I got the two piece, was the wrong choice hard to transport when traveling, end up paying an extra piece of luggage for a fishing rod tube. The tip was the main issue after killing 10 lion fish , to start six prongs are too many and the barbs very aggressive destroying your pray after fighting to removing them from the spear, I lost the first prong pulling a fish, next shot I lost another one, after my dive I realized that they are glued to the hole. So I had to cut the pole to fit in my bag,...

pole spear tip

By Robert C.

from Bay Shore, NY, US

I read the reviews before I bought this pole spear for my vacation and leisure pro told me that the tip was improved and I would not have any problems. They were right and I did not have any issues. It's a good product for the money and I have other products from this brand that I like a lot.

I would buy this again

By Big M.

This is my first spear and seems to be well built and should be a good learning tool for my new venture into spearfishing for bass, crappie, and bream. I got the 2 piece and it does not fit in my dive bag but not a big deal. I would get the 3 piece if you need it more compact when broken down.

Not Your Typical Thread Count

By JAMIE I.

from San Diego, CA, US

Only problem is that Cressi uses a different threading count than most "American" brands like JBL...so getting different points is harder.

Nice pole, Tip sucks

By Mike C.

from Miami, FL, US

I purchased this to have different size options available while spear fishing. The pole is well constructed and feels strong. The tips is VERY aggressive. It has 5 points spread quite wide and has very large barbs which won't be forgiving to your catch when you pull it out. I recommend using a different tip with this. Tip thread on the end is 6mm but you'll need an adaptor if you decide to use it in a shorter configuration for example using just the first piece with a tip.

So I had to cut the pole to fit in my bag, I'm looking to replace the tip. Now not sure what fits the pole....?.??

Just like the rest of the reviews. Good pole, bad tip

By Russell P.

from Dallas, TX, US

Short and sweet/bitter: Pole is good. sturdy, wont flex when under tension, very stable and doesn't move around when put together. The tip is a piece of crap. I'm down to two tips and haven't even hit anything. just testing out the pole in the water aimed at nothing. Started with five barbs, down to two... that's not good. Oh, all in about one hours worth of time. This isn't a bad buy for the money, but expect to try to find a replacement tip ASAP.

Pole great! spear tip horrible!!

By DEWAYNE S.

I bought 2 of these setups for lionfish hunting in Jamaica... both first shots hit & killed lionfish, but resulted in the individual prongs being severely bent & loosened in the mount.... Was able to gently straighten & get back to hunting, second shot- dead fish, but 2 prongs fell out! These are not welded, rather cheaply glued in to the mount... Good luck getting it fixed in the Caribbean in time to finish your dive vacation... Advice: buy a solid welded spear head, & use these poles with it!

would not buy again.

By Jordan S.

SAME ISSUE AS THE PREVIOUS COMMENTS, FIRST TRIP OUT SHOOT A NICE SHEEPSHEAD(14-16") FIGURED WITH 4 of 5 prongs in he was secured, AS SOON AS HE WAS STRUCK HE SNAPPED 4 OUT OF 5 PRONGS OFF!!!! TALK ABOUT A SHIT DESIGN WISH I SAW THESE REVIEWS, BOUGHT THIS ONE AND THE GENERIC STRAIGHT FIBERGLASS SINGLE FLOPPER HEAD, *****BUY THE GENERIC THIS IS VERY SLIPPERY AND YOU WILL BE REPLACING THE TIP (THIS THIS SUCKS)

Bad Quality Control

By Dave S.

from Oklahoma City, OK, US

After buying and returning 3 of them, 2 from Leisure Pro and 1 locally, for my last dive trip...I was seriously disappoint with this Cressi. It's hard enough to spreer a fish anyway, let alone using a segmented pole Speer that should be straight but had about a 12 degree bend when all 3 piece were assembled, about 7 degrees with two segments. Bad quality control! I have a dive buddy that bought about a year before I did and his is perfectly straight, go figure.

The price is great. Being a 3 pc. spear it allows me a nice variety of spear lengths as long as you get the adapter which let6s you put the spear tip on any of the pole sections.

Ray A on Jun 3, 2015
Comes in (2) pieces or (3) - better for traveling. The tip (paralyser) can attach to shorter shaft making an ideal Lionfish sling. Great price for casual hunter.

is there anywhere you can buy a flopper attachment?
texas spearo on Apr 23, 2015
BEST ANSWER: You can purchase a spearpoint with a flopper here: http://www.leisurepro.com/p-csbshm/cressi-mach-spear-head.
Listing says Lionfish tip. So I'm guessing it's barbless?
A shopper on Jan 13, 2015
BEST ANSWER: No it has barbs and it's actually a 4 prong tip very sharp but not good if in areas with a lot of rock or hard bottom the barb and spear points ante very thin but a new tip can always be used great spear pole
Will a 3 prong tip work?
Kevin on Apr 18, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Excellent pole spear for hunting lion fish or other game fish. Breaks down into 3 pieces for easy travel
I recommend this product!
Dave
How far of a range does this thing have?
A shopper on Feb 2, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Double the distance of the stretched sling length .
Keep in mind that the sling is wrapped around you wrist unless you attach a recovery string which I haven't tried
What adaptor is needed to make it a 2 piece? I read a review saying "you'll need an adaptor if you decide to use it in a shorter configuration for example " and I don´t know if it is from 7 mm to 6mm or 6 mm to 7mm
Eugenio G on Mar 15, 2019
BEST ANSWER: it's just a small male/female piece about an inch a half long. It attaches to the spear, where the two spear pieces connect to make one long spear, and allows you to attach a spear tip to half of the shaft. So wallah, you have a shorter spear. The spear Male threaded end is probably 8 or 10mm, and may need to be necked down to 6mm for a smaller spear head.
What is the thread size for the tip?
A shopper on Jul 20, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Hi There,

The the thread for the tip end is 6mm.

The thread for the connection of the two pieces is 11mm.
When broken down will it pack into suitcase i.e.. what is size of each piece of the three way?
CHARLES E on Aug 11, 2014
BEST ANSWER: This pole spear has been awesome so far. The overall packing size would be about 27". So, if your suitcase is at least 27.5" in length...than yes, it'll fit. Each piece is less than 27". Buy this spear, it's badass. One tip, find out where to buy the right tips...as they are different than JBL pieces.
do you have a selection of tips for this pole?
A shopper on Jul 26, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Short answer- I don't know
I believe Cressi would sell replacement tips and , once the size in mm's was determined, replacement tips from other spear manufacturer could/or should be usable. Not a perfect answer. The one I purchased has a paralyzer head with 5 prongs and is very effective, especially for Lionfish!
Will the Cressi Mach Spear Head fit on the Cressi 6' pole spear?
A shopper on Sep 5, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Sorry I couldn't buy it from Leisurepro, because I'm a international buyer. I bought a MAKO, but I know that cressi sell a point adaptor for use standar 6mm treat in this pole spear that must be 11mm, I see it in Amazon. (Cressi Adaptor for 11mm Hand Spear)
I bought this pole spear. This 5 prong tip got damaged. Where can I get another flopper one? Everyone suggests different sizes (6,7mm). I measured it - it seem more like 4-5mm. What is it in real and what tip from other brands will fit this spear? Thank you!
A shopper on May 3, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Dame thing happens the Barbs are Fidel with epicúreo and the start es to fall off
I followeD suggestions and I ordered ELF Tool Lionfish Spear Tip 6mm
Can the tip be attached to the base pole (with the sling) - without using the extensions - for Lionfish hunting). Or will the tip ONLY attach to the extension pole??
DTR on Dec 10, 2014
BEST ANSWER: The threads on the final extension pole connecting the tip are 6mm. The threads between the pieces are larger and will require the use of an adapter to use 6mm tips on the base pole
Will a sea stinger tip fit on this spear?
A shopper on Nov 30, 2014
BEST ANSWER: The threaded tip on this pole spear is shorter than the last pole spear I bought from Sports Chalet. I would compare the threaded end requirements of the tip to what the pole spear has before purchase.
What is the tip size... and does it have a travel case?
A shopper on May 27, 2014
BEST ANSWER: 6mm and mine did not come with a case
Is the tip included?
A shopper on May 25, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Yes. The tip shown in the photo is included.
Tip does not seem to be 6mm like everyone here said. More like 3mm. Wanted to add a break away slip tip and ordered a 6mm jbl Rock point but now I feel like it's not going to fit...?
A shopper on Nov 25, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Is not a 3mm for sure, is 6mm i just órdered a 6 mm one
What is the size tip thread of this product? 6mm or 7mm or something else? If it is 6mm then will JBL standard spear points work?
A shopper on Aug 24, 2014
BEST ANSWER: 6mm. Yes, any 6mm tip will work.
Five-Prong Lionfish Cluster" Tip.... do you sell normal one for this pole spear?
Raul Cervera Diaz on Aug 16, 2014
Is this fiberglass or aluminum?
A shopper on Jun 17, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Aluminum.
Are the threads 6 or 7mm?
A shopper on Aug 15, 2014
BEST ANSWER: The threads are 6mm.
