Great Fins

Superb! Best fins I've tried

By SeaDragon

WoW! I was shocked at the power of these fins and the control they give you. Once you get the small ankle kick style (expends next to no energy). Only downside is you need to get a pair for your budy, otherwise in 2 strokes you'll loose them. They are a little heavy, so that needs to be considered for travel.

Over 5 years of research and development brought the highly regarded and best-selling SF-8 X-Pert Zoom split fin to market in 2003. TUSA redefines the fin market again with the introduction of the SF-15 X-Pert Zoom Z3. The X-Pert 3Z further improves upon the performance, features and design of the SF-8 with the incorporation of 3 materials, 10% longer blade length, enhanced propeller-fin technology, reinforced blade rails and optimized blade scoops. These new features along with TUSA's patented 27° angled blade design and EZ strap buckle system make the X-Pert Zoom Z3 The Fin for Divers".

When using the standard traditional blade fin, with the leg completely extended, there remains an angle of 27° between the heel and the foot and the calf of the leg, causing a 10% loss of propulsion. Because the fin is angled below the body, during the kick phase, the body is pushed forward and down, instead of straight ahead. With the X-Pert Z3 Fin, that 27° angle has been designed into the fin. This means that 100% of the energy expended during the kick phase is directed toward the propulsion of the diver. To achieve maximum performance from this fin, use a small bent knee kick with a light rhythm. This creates less strain on the leg muscles compared with traditional fins, reducing the diver's fatigue and subsequent air consumption.

TUSA's advanced split fins employ propeller fin technology, which delivers ultra-high performance with a low amplitude rapid flutter kick. As the fin moves through the water its two wing-shaped surfaces create lift and forward propulsion like a propeller. Any water traveling over the top of the blade is funneled into and out of the split between the blades. Efficiency is increased while drag and effort is reduced. Fins are equipped with TUSA's high quality stainless-steel spring straps with TUSA's EZ buckle system. The spring straps do not need to be adjusted for size and easily slip over the heel securely when donning and doffing the fins. The EZ buckle system has squeeze-style" side-release buckles allowing quick and easy adjustments with minimal effort. Adjustment can be made while the fins are worn, allowing for a precise fit and ease of removal when necessary. Spring straps are also depth compensating and automatically adjust for wet suit boot compression at depth. Straps are equipped with a comfortable rubber heel grip with a large finger loop for an easy fit. The TUSA X-Pert Zoom Z3 Fins are available in multiple sizes and colors. Fin measure 22.8" to 25.7" (57.8 cm to 65.3 cm) depending on size.

Questions & Answers

Questions about this item:

Shopper  how much do they weigh?
Mario C  from 4.1 to 5.4lbs depending on size
GUY K  Bought this pair for my wife. She really loves them and weight is not an issue. They are lighter than a full fin and seem to propel just fine with less resistance.
KRISHNA R  I use US 10WIDE shoes. Does this have a narrow foot pocket or wide ? I definitely need WIDE. Infact SP twinjet hurts my upper feet:(
SCOTT S  This pocket is wide and fits great even with a heavy sole boot.
PATRICE H  I bought them for my boyfriend and he said that they have a wide foot area, he has a wide foot as well. I hope this helps.
STEVE F  I wear a 10 1/2 regular and use a soled 3mil boot and it’s fit fine and never felt confining. I’d order a pair, try them on DRY and if too tight Leisure Pro has always been great with returns.
Austin R  So I will be diving in Cozumel and I would like boots, what would you recommend, a 3mm or a 5mm?
SCOTT S  Either should work in that environment. The difference will probably be the style of boot itself instead of the thickness. Some boots have a sturdy sole and others a lighter sole, 3mm are usually slippers that have no zipper, whereas 5mm usually have a sipper on the side.
FREDERICK W  Either should work just fine. I dive with Akona 3mm boots. I've only used a shorty in Cozumel diving in the winter there. Sometimes a vest in some lakes in Tx.
COLLEEN B  I don't think it matters and depends how cold your feet get. It also depends how big your feet are and the size of the soles od the boots. If in doubt go for 3mm and you can get thermal socks if you get cold.
MIKE D  Really, either will work. I prefer a 3mm for the feel - not concerned about feet getting cold or "padding"
Steven O  Will this work with Tusa Imprex 5mm Dive Boot?
KENNETH S  Yes,they work great together!!
STEVEN T  Yes they will work. It may affect the fit however, making it feel a bit tight.
MICHAEL M  I use spring straps. I find them much easier to get on and off on a rocking boat. So, to answer your question, yes. Depending on the type of dive I'm on, I will use anything from very light booties, to heavier boots then the Tusa 5mm. You should have no problem. The only issue you're going to have with those boots is drying them out. It takes forever. One tip. Put a couple dryer sheets in each boot once they are dry or close to being dry. This will remove smells and keeps from getting mildew.
MIKE D  Yes
EMILY G  The heel strap is adjustable and the foot is roomy so your 5mm boots should work just fine. I love my fins!
YAN G  Yes, depending on size.
Shopper  My daughter is 12 her shoe size is 6 would you recommend a small - would this still be too big for her in a Small?
WINSTON N  sorry but I don't know about small sizes
YAN G  If she is a Woman's 6, which would be a Man's size 4, then yes, Small would probably be too big. Would have to try them on the make sure.
