Great bright light

By Johnny D.

I have a home-made forearm mount designed for hands-free use of a torch light. I use to mount my Impact XL on the mount, but this is a backup light and I wanted a primary (brighter) torch light to use instead (as my Princeton Tec Shockwave II is a pistol grip). So far the Torrent has worked wonderfully. Solid, bright light but still compact enough to attach to my forearm mount. I did have a problem with the switch on the first one they sent, but Leisure Pro was very responsive and replaced i...

Poor quality

The first one I had broke the second time I used it in less than 2 weeks. It was the switch mechanism. I got a second one. On both, the switch lock is flimsy and ineffective. It turned on in my BC pocket by itself even though it was locked off.

I would buy this product again

By Mike

This is a good, compact liked that easily fits in a pocket. Bright at close range but loses some intensity at distance.

Great light

By Louis T.

This is a great diving light. It is small, yet very bright. It could be used both as a primary or a backup.

By noguerac

Compact, well made

Very Bright

By noguerac

Good and bright, is my nite back up light

Really bright, good size. Solid

By ktyak

I have taken this on 3 night dives now. Very easy to operate under water (switch on or off if you want to see any glowing phos). The light outshone all my dive buddies with a nice white light. Wondering how it fades over time but nice and solid and didnt leak. Other dive buddies torches exploded OMG!

Princenton Tec LED review

By sweet l.

I purchased and used this light on some cavern dives, and a night dive. Worked flawlessly. Small, very bright, and reliable. I would definitely purchase again. Switch activated so there is no chance of flooding it when turning it on/off underwater. Also has a lock so that it doesn't turn on in transit.

Good light

By SANDRA T.

I recently purchased and used this light for a night dive in Cozumel. I was pleased with it's light weight and high intensity. It performed well and I had no problems with it. It sure beats having to lug around a heavy light especially with the airline weight restrictions.

bright, compact, and extremely durable..

Old school work horse

By Ron S.

from Truckee, CA, US

I've been using this light for a few years now, hole hunting in NorCal. I beat this light up pretty good and it keeps going strong. Never flooded, and the switch is reliable. Puts out plenty of light, but compared to newer technology, it's big and takes a lot of batteries.

Q&A

Questions & Answers

Questions about this item:

Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
Mike M  Replacing a lost similar light. Well engineered and bright.
SHERRY P  After much research and discussions with many divers, the size and power is the best match. Many spoke of the fun of a bigger light but gets in the way and is bulky. This light can be placed in the BC for streamlining yet bright enough. Plus LED is a more reliable light win it comes to electronics. No bulb to break or overheat.
Byron G  I chose the Princeton Tec 280Lumens Torrent LED dive light because I needed a small, compact, extremely bright and reasonably priced primary dive light for recreational diving. I decided to purchase it after reading the reviews. I will write a review after I use it. Can't wait. Hope my expectation is met.
Denis F  I had the earlier version of this light and Iwas very happy with the light hunting lobsters. I lost the light at a beach and now this light is a better deal and a higher brightness. I have had issues with other lights, leaking and the batteries dying quickly. This light with 8 AA batteries should stay bright for a few more dives.
TOBY A  Very powerful flashlight in a nice easy to hold size.
MICHAEL W  This is a good vest mounted light for those times you wish you had a light. Now you can carry one all the time without the bulk of a big hand held.
Shopper  overall length ?
Kasia W  Length will be approximately 7 inches.
VICTOR K  Overall length not including lanyard is 7 inches, width is 1 and 3/4 inches.
Gordon B  For me the length is just right in that it not so short the switch is my palm, or so long its a pain and in the way.
TODD B  It is approximately 7 inches long.
HARRY D  6.75 inches from tip to tip. Diameter is 2 inches at the widest point. I bot this as a betweener light. A super large back up light or a mini primary light. It is a bright little light. Unless you are a player for the NBA I recommend using a lanyard since it does have a good size diameter and will fill a normal size hand.
JAMES J  What is the approx. burn time on rechargeable batteries, e.g., Eneloop 1,900mAh? I need a light that will last at least 2 hours on a charge.
JAMES J  This was my question. I bought one light (Princeton Tec Torrent LED). My rechargeable batteries are very slightly wider (thicker) than regular AA Alkaline. You can't see it, but I've noticed it in some devices. WITH RECHARGEABLE BATTERIES, YOU HAVE TO FORCE THE BATTERY PACK IN AND IT IS VERY HARD TO REMOVE IT AGAIN. The light does work with Ni-MH batteries. So, a warning to those intending to use rechargeable batteries. I'll write a full review after our next trip.
MICHAEL D  On the Eneloop 1900mAh I don't know, but I took 3 dives, each about 1 hour in length with the alkalines that came with the light and noticed no dimming whatsoever.
CHARLES C  How long they will last depends on the led power. I got the Supper Nova. Its expensive but its rechargable and last for 2-3 hours on one charge and even longer on the low beam. Great for bug diving ext.
