Very convenient, works well

I am glad I purchased it. It works well and is not too bulky.

Surface Marker Buoys are safety devices that is a must for all safety conscious divers, allowing a diver to mark their location when making safety stops, completing mandatory decompression-stops, and signaling the boat if they surface a distance.½The OMS Surface Marker Buoy 6' (183 cm) has an open bottom and is a high visibility signaling device that is easy to use and easy to deploy. Designed with an open bottom, the OMS Surface Marker Buoy (SMB) can be easily inflated using the octopus second stage regulator or other methods. It is ideal for divers performing drift or decompression dives and is an indispensable and essential safety equipment for all serious divers.

The slim design SMB is made from bright orange laminate fabric with reflective tape at top for easy identification in low light conditions. The fabric seams are taped and sewn for added strength and durability. The SMB comes equipped with a pull dump overpressure relief valve (OPV) with pull cord and an alternate inflation oral/power inflator valve. The open bottom /one way valve design prevents gas venting upon reaching the surface. The OMS SMB provides 25 lbs. (11.34 kg) of lift and is equipped with 1" (25mm) webbing and stainless steel D-ring attached to bottom for rigging.

Questions & Answers

Questions about this item:

MARCIA K  does this smb fill easily with the secondary mouthpiece?
Mario C  yes it does,
ART I  I did not have any trouble deploying it either with manual inflation or using a regulator. It is worth it to practice before you actually need it to get a better feel for the volume of air required.
ERIC Q  Yes. The bottom of the SMB is held closed by two thin flexible strips of metal (feels like lead) sewn into pouches just above the opening. So you’ll need to separate them before you can open the bottom of the SMB and insert your octo mouthpiece to inflate. The use of metal strips is quite clever because they help the SMB to float upright and prevent air from escaping at the surface by keeping the bottom of the SMB below the water line. That being said, deploying a SMB underwater is an acquired skill but I didn’t find this one any harder to fill than other SMBs I’ve used.
ALFRED G  Yes, can be too easily, use with caution until you gain some experience. Ask me how I know this. :-)
Shopper  What are folded dimensions? And how high above surface does it reach? A 6' total length means some of that 6' has to be below the surface when deployed.
KEVIN F  When rolled up it has a circumference of 9.25 inches and 7 inches long. Yes, some of that 6 foot tube will be underwater if you have deployed it from underwater and have it on a tension line.
GARY T  What is the width of this device?
KEVIN F  6 inches.
Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
KARL Q  Seems to have good features, SS attachment, overpressure valve, not too large
DOUGLAS T  Same make and model that I have been using. My original was damaged beyond repair last week.
LEE L  I bought a closed bottom pylon and it was not easy to fill.
BARRY G  Needed a new one and wanted to try this one as it has the features I was looking for.
Mike S  Height, fill options
STEVEN R  Needed a new marker and I wanted one that was LARGE
