Very well made fin. Takes some practice

By Capt T.

Very well made fin, a little wierd to look at, but they acutally WORK!! Love being able to walk in the fins. The release catch is stiff and requires a little practice to get use to.

They really work...

By COLIN R.

They really work... you can walk in them, heck, you can even dance in them. They are very solidly constructed, with some non-slip rubber under the foot pocket to avoid slipping on pool decks. Really useful for tec divers staggering around with sling tanks under each arm, but nice for the rest of us too. The two big knocks that I had read were (i) hard to engage in the water, and (ii) if you dive without a fullsuit, they rub the front of your legs. I didn't find either to be the case - one...

Just imagine...a high performance fin you can also walk in when entering and exiting the water...who knew? The days of dragging your fins in and out of the water are finally over! Dynamic Scuba Fins (or "flip fins") are a totally new class of fins. Take them out once and you will never go back to traditional fins. The revolutionary and durable Aqua-Hinge Mechanism and highly efficient non-vented blade design provide an essential combination of performance and safety for Scuba divers at all levels. For swimming, no other open heel fin can match the power and comfort provided by the Amphibian, which features a prominent central web configuration contributing to increase propulsion and reduced load required during sustained kicking.

A natural evolution within the dive industry, the Amphibian Fin System is designed to be strapped on prior to entering the water and removed after exiting. The heavy duty springs push the soft blade webbing up to ride gently against the shin while on the surface. This makes walking, climbing boat ladders and other movements as easy as wearing no fins at all. Once in the water, the Amphibian blades are flipped down into swimming position by simply kicking naturally in the water, and flipped back up by pushing back on the release levers before getting out.

The fins are manufactured with the finest of materials. The blades are made from a combination of soft, durable thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) and a more ridged TPE. The soft TPE web is designed to increase propulsion and reduce the load required for sustained kicking and the more ridged TPE blade inlays increase coefficient of friction on blade. The Aqua-Hinge is a heavy duty hinge featuring 316-military grade anti-corrosive stainless steel springs. The fins come equipped with durable rubber fin straps that have an oversized thumb loop and squeeze-style" side-release buckles all for easy donning and doffing.Fins are available in multiple sizes and colors. Fins are proudly made in the USA.

Terrible for walking in water!

These are great for walking on the sand, but once you enter the water with any kind of swell or surf they severely inhibit walking forward. The reason I purchased is for a bad spine and really hate donning fins in water. So suiting up and walking with fins seemed like a great idea until I got to the water and the other 7 in the group just walked on out in the surf and I could not keep up walking forward for sure and not walking backwards either. I had to finally take them off to catch up wi...

Flip fins, Two thumbs up.

By Angel F.

I now own two pair, Love them.

Best Fin Design Ever!

By STEVEN S.

from St Pete Beach , FL, US

The best thing ever for boat diving or walking around in a cramped boat. Absolutely Terrific idea and design that makes both getting off and back on the boat that much easier.

FANTASTIC Fins

By clay

I have had these for 4 seasons and love them more each time. It's so easy to walk on a rocking boat; kick to extend the fins in water; and snap-back easily for climbing back up the ladder. The only surprise is that everyone doesn't have them too.

So easy to exit and enter in surf

By Walk P.

Other than they are a bit hard to get locked in position when in the water, these were awesome and I got a ton of questions from other divers that want a pair.

CUSTOMER SERVICE? If nothing else has sold you on these fins, this should be the kicker. Since I've had my fins, I've had to call Omega twice. Once when I broke the locking mechanism doing something stupid. The second I tore one of the fins, again... being stupid. I won't elaborate but they were mindless in retrospect. Both times I called Omega to see if they could fix my fins and rather than fix them, they replaced them with BRAND NEW FINS!!!!!! Oh...and I got them in about 3 days from the time of my call. Mind you, this most recent time I had already owned the fins for three years. THREE YEARS!!! No fuss no mas. I know of no other company with customer service this good. I recommend this product without reservation and would buy them again.

Great fins

By Scuba O.

I have used these fins for two years and over 100 dives. It took some getting used to the technique of climbing up a ladder. They are great for a crowded boat; I have used them on several beach dives with no problem. The locking mechanism has held up well.

A great pair of fins!

By Tall T.

The "Flip Fins" were very helpful while moving around in a crowed boat.

greatest fins ever!!!!

By Chris C.

I use these fins scuba diving free-diving snorkeling and spear-fishing easy to engage from folded position to swimming mode great fins lead to great times! amazing product

Really useful for tec divers staggering around with sling tanks under each arm, but nice for the rest of us too. The two big knocks that I had read were (i) hard to engage in the water, and (ii) if you dive without a fullsuit, they rub the front of your legs. I didn't find either to be the case - one quick kick and you are off, and, although I wouldn't run a marathon in them, they are not uncomfortable to walk around in. The one thing I do still struggle with is climbing ladders in them (when you step up, the blade "catches" the water and tries to lock down). But I suspect it is a matter of perfecting the "leaning back" technique when climbing the ladder. I do worry a bit about how long they will last. They look really solid, but once the locking mechanism goes, you would have to throw them away. We'll just have to see...

Good Idea

By DKdiver

Used these fins on boat dives for 3 years. Very convenient on boat deck. Noticed some material separation at material joints but this was not a big problem. On a recent trip to Cozumel both fins cracked through the letter "M" in the "Omega" logo. Will probably buy it again but I'm still concerned over the materials quality.

Ok fins

By Mursu

Ok product, a bit heavy for normal kicks. Lock/unlock mechanism a bit difficult to use.

They do what they say...sort of

By JAMES G.

Fins are easy to walk in, great for moving around a crowded boat. Even greater on entry, and lock easily with just a couple of kicks. However, if you had to walk very far in them, one needs to be wearing a fairly heavy suit, as they rub on the front of your legs. These are big fins, which take a lot of force to move.. compared to split fins they are a tough change. However, if you use jets or some other solid fin, they would be easy. With one of my boots, I could not move the latch (depends on the heal "edge", and had to remove to get on the boat. Other boots worked fine. Bottom line, I actually like them..just need to get used to the strengh required to kick with them.

Nice product works as described

By DAVID M.

These worked well on the tenders used to take us to dive site. Made it easy to move around in the restricted space. Good shin protection when getting back on board. Works well, decent propulsion properties.

GREAT FINS

By JASON S.

This is a great fin. Powerful, comfotable, and most of all EASY TO WALK IN.

Questions about this item:

Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
Charles N  I've had flip fins for 6 years now and love everything about them. I'm getting another pair in mine. Six years and they case I lose one of mine. Six years and they still work great.
STEVE A  great for exiting a boat
ANDREW Z  Make my dive day alot more enjoyable, one less item to carry into the water with
Doc W  I would use these fins in a "float-tube" for flyfishing. I wear BOOTFOOT waders that have a somewhat large, fixed shoe (as opposed to booties or a wading shoe.) Should they fit???
TYRONE S  Yes you could. I would check to see if the manufacturer was still in business. Last I heard they were not.
WILLIAM S  Hi, They probably won't fit. I also have bootfoot waders & could not use them, I wear a size 11-12. Hope this helps.
STEVEN L  I do believe that the Flip Fin will fit waders (I just checked the size of both my waders, my dive boots and the boots on my dry suit. There seems to be little difference in there size.
DENNIS P  I wear a large fin normally and had to buy pads because of so much room. my wife has the medium fins and they even feel large on me. I have a wide foot and that's not a problem. the bootfoot might be somewhat larger though.
Marilyn S  I would recommend going up a size with those waders.
STEVE A  I am not sure about the fit but walking in water with the fins "up" in current is difficult as the force against your leg is multiplied in moving water. I find them most useful when walking on a flat deck boat
ADAM K  If you are talking about those velvet bottom shoes. I think fly fishers wear. Probably it might help to go a size bigger if possible.
LAWRENCE M  I'm curious about the overall size of these fins. Can they be carried in the plane on a carry on? Does anyone have the actual size of the fin when it is open? That alone would make me buy it.
JOHN M  These are full size ocean fins, 2 feet from heel to tip. They would be very awkward in a carry on bag. They do, however, have an extremely strong stroke, ghiving you a lot of distance for a small effort. They are also very durable; I've been using mine (approx. 4 dives a month) for 5-6 years.
JASON S  I don't know about being carried on a plane, I don't fly, but the dimensions are 26 3/8"long x 9 3/8" wide without the strap on. Mine came with a cary bag-approx. 32"x11" enough room for fins and a mask in it's protective case, also has a zippered pouch that is big enough to cary my 2 snorkles and a spare set of gloves. My fins are size XL.
DAN S  I have a pair of extra large Flipfins. I'm not sure if other sizes have different dimensions. The over all length is 26 inches long when the blade is straight out and 9 1/4 inches wide at the widest part of the blade. When the blade is flipped up, its about 19 inches, and the foot pocket is about 12 inches long I use mine at the local aquarium, where at the entry point there is no chair or place to lean, so other people have to have someone to hold on to for balance while they put their fins on, I just walk up and step right in. Dan S.
GREGORY K  I have a large pair of the fins, and they're about 26 inches in length when extended. They're easily transportable on a plane. Be sure to get the individual inserts, too. GK
LAWRENCE M  Thanks Gregory, What about putting them in a 21 inch carry on, will the fit when opened up? I tried a short pair of fins once, but not enough kick. These I think would work if I could get them into a carry on.
GREGORY K  At 26 inches, they'll "fit" but you won't be able to close the carry-on bag because the fins will extend by 5 inches. Why not buy a pair, try them once, and if they don't work to your satisfaction, return them.
Derwood A  I'm 6'4" and they hit me about 15" up my leg, or 3/4 of the way up my shin, when in the up position. Don't see why they wouldn't fit in a carry or or a plus 1. Love them by the way. Everybody calls me a transformer when I wear them. I lack an ACL in my right leg and balance can be difficult, especially backing up. Flipped up, I don't have to worry about my fins getting stepped on. Once in the water, one good kick locks them. Coming out, you pop them open with your heel and climb the ladder. The big advantage there is if you get knocked off the ladder with a wave or pulled from the boat by the current, you're still wearing them so you can reengage them, swim back to the ladder, and flip them up again.
