Have had the computer about 1 year now. It is the easiest computer to use I have ever had. Works like your iphone-very intuitive- don't need to memorize complicated button sequences. Switching to Nitrox and planning dives takes seconds. Large screen. Normal mode shows you different numbers to look at versus gauge mode. A different way to gauge your dive. Have not used the compass yet. Love that it is re-chargeable and no batteries to replace. 99 rolling dive log with all of the dive inf...

is excellent underwater computer, i can recommend for anyone

Introducing the ProPlus X, a new take on a classic solution. From the display to the battery, Oceanic re-thought everything. The heart of the ProPlus X is an amazingly bright, low energy consumption, Thin-Film Transistor (TFT) display. Divers will have no problem seeing dive data in bright surface conditions or lowering the intensity for night dives. The large, easy-to-read screen also has an intuitive color coded interface, high-resolution bar graphs, and the largest, most legible, digits of any dive computer on the market. By taking advantage of the 4 buttons and an improved user interface, the Pro-Plus X is a cinch to set up and use on a dive. Oceanic's patented Air Time Remaining and Dual Algorithm's, and advanced digital compass provide accurate, reliable and easily accessed dive data. Combined with Blue-Tooth LE connectivity, a rechargeable lithium battery with up to 60 hours use on a charge and quick disconnect hose, the Pro-Plus X is a true step forward for dive computers.

No more squinting. Dive computers are supposed to deliver crucial data quickly and without confusion. Oceanic agrees. That's why the new Pro-Plus X combines a huge display area, the largest most legible digits on the market and an intuitive user interface with major feature enhancements. See it for yourself. Take the Oceanic challenge: When shopping for a new dive computer, compare the displays. When it comes to viewing critical information, which would you rather see at 100' (30 meters)?

Air Time Remaining:
The Air Time Remaining feature calculates current depth, tank pressure, your breathing rate, ascent time, and decompression status to tell you exactly how much time you can remain underwater. The Pro-Plus X Dive Computer continually displays air time remaining via a numerical bar graph in addition to cylinder pressure. You may also display air time remaining in oversized digits at any time with the press of a button.

Dive Time Remaining:
Dive Time Remaining, like Air Time Remaining provides a real" number in minutes. This calculation combines air time remaining, nitrogen and oxygen absorption, displaying whichever allows less time. Is it a good idea to check your computer before entering the water? You bet. Could you forget to activate your computer? Sure. The Pro-Plus X features push-button or automatic activation, triggered by water contact. A benefit of push-button activation is easily verifying operation and cylinder pressure, but in case you forget, or simply choose not to activate your computer, it can be as simple as jumping in the water.

Audible Alarms with Flashing LED Warning Light and Acknowledgment:
The Pro-Plus X features a variety user-customized audible alarms. You won't miss the Pro-Plus X's audible alarm. Once triggered, the alarm will sound continuously for 10 seconds. The alarm's job is to get your attention so that you look at the computer. Once it does that, simply press the button and it will stop.

Air, Nitrox or Gauge:
The Pro-Plus X acts simply as an air" computer until you tell it otherwise. As your training and experience grow, the Pro-Plus X is designed to grow with you, being easily programmed for up to 3 nitrox mixtures from 21% to 100%. You can also set the computer for use in an extended range gauge mode.

Oceanic Personal Dive Computer Algorithm:
Decompression theory can be trusted only as far as it has been demonstrated by actual test dive data. In 1987 a unique series of experiments were conducted by Diving Science and Technology (DSAT). Commissioned by the Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI), these Doppler ultrasound monitored human experiments conducted by Dr. Michael Powell produced the most comprehensive data set that exists for recreational divers to this day. These data were used to validate the PADI Recreational Dive Planner and are the basis of the algorithm used in all Oceanic Personal Dive Computers (PDCs). The ultimate adjustable algorithm that's the way divers, instructors and Oceanic Pro Dealers refer to Oceanic PDCs. Oceanic's color-coded bar graphs provide complete control of your margin of safety for each dive. Want to be a bit more cautious? Make it a personal rule to never enter into the yellow caution zone, or stay one pixel away, or you get the point. Now you can even program several of our PDCs to do it for you with Oceanic's patent pending nitrogen bag graph alarm; set it once and let your computer alert you when your bar graph reaches that level.

Automatic Safety Stop Prompt:
A brief audible and visual alarm remind you as you approach 15'(4.6 meters), and an automatic 3-minute timer counts-down to zero. As in any other dive mode, you still have access to other pieces of information, and there is no penalty should you choose to disregard the safety stop.

Choose Your Dive Mode Display:
The new Pro-Plus X is as versatile underwater as it is topside. Upon starting your dive, the Pro-Plus X will simply display your current depth, how long you can stay there and cylinder pressure. For additional functions simply press the button to see more information. Is this information important to you on a full time basis? Leave it there. Just want to check it and then move on to another display? You can do that too. It's up to you and your new Pro-Plus X.

Other features of the new Pro-Plus X are; fast set menu with dual button operation, 12/24 hour format, date and time stamp, user friendly mode icons, graphic user interface recognizable logic of green, yellow and red color-coding in conjunction with bar graphs. The diver has at-a-glance information, automatically compensation for altitude up to 14,000' (4,270 meters), 24-hour fly countdown and calculated de-saturation time, variable ascent rate indicator, depth-dependent ascent rate, 99 dive (24 per day) on-unit log book, and much more!

The Oceanic Pro-Plus X can display in imperial or metric measurements, has an operational depth of 330' (100 meters), displays pressure from 0 to 5,000 psi (0 to 352 bars) and displays temperature from 0°F to 99°F (-9°C to 60°C), comes in a durable impact resistant case with attachment points for lanyards or clips, 32" (81.3 cm) 7/16" threaded HP hose with quick-disconnect, USB charge cable, charger connection module, screen protector, zipper protective storage/carrying case and owner's manual. The Oceanic Pro-Plus X Computer is proudly made in the USA.

Mac users will hate the Pro Plus X

I bought the Pro Plus X for the screen which is nice. However, I haven't even gotten to dive with the computer and I'm frustrated beyond belief. The only Mac software you can use to set up this computer, DiverLog won't sync using USB or Bluetooth to Mac. The iOS version connects via Bluetooth, but you can only setup your personal information for the computer using the Mac version. Windows users may have better luck. I may revise my review after I talk with Oceanic, but as of now, I'm abs...

Apple sync fixed. Awesome product

By Derek M.

from Truckee, CA, US

I;ve had mine just over a year. Awesome product now. There was a sync issue with Apple - but that’s now fixed and it works perfect. Even uploads dive log to iOS devices over Bluetooth, I’d have given it 5 stars, except that the sync issue was there for a while. It’s an awesome product, bright and easy to read in all conditions.

Compass will not stay calibrated

By Brian N.

from Richmond, VA, US

I've used my ProPlus X on about 20 dives and so far it is ok. The big screen and simple interface is basically foolproof. There are some drawbacks. The diverlog software is basically useless and hard to get up and running. I gave up and just went back to manually entering it into a log book. The compass is wildly inaccurate and my stop staying calibrated after about 10 dives. I checked it against a compass it's so far off that I don't even think to adjust the declination will fix it. I went back to a manual compass. Overall it's fine, but in retrospect, I'm not sure it was worth the money.

gauge turned off just several months old -- at 85 feet.

By Anne E.

I would go with the less expensive model until all the kinks are worked out with this one. We were horribly disappointed that after a few uses and less than a year old this happened. It's a safety issue.

Mac users will hate the Pro Plus X

The iOS version connects via Bluetooth, but you can only setup your personal information for the computer using the Mac version. Windows users may have better luck. I may revise my review after I talk with Oceanic, but as of now, I'm absolutely disappointed with the lack of reliable software for setting up and logging dive data. For $1200 it should just work!

Questions & Answers

Questions about this item:

Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
PHILIP H  I own one and love it.
M H  What ascent rate does the Pro Plus X use?
JENNIFER V  Hi the ascent rate is set at 3m/s, but like all the settings it will let you override it if you need to. It will ask if you are sure, and then you can set a new rate that you prefer
Anne E  I believe one foot per second but I'm not positive. I will tell you, however, that we got rid of the gauge shortly after getting it as it completely turned off at 85 feet! We are very happy with the much less expensive model,
Gordon M  Are you asking in terms of the ascent rate alarm? It is a variable bar on the right hand side of the display. My recollection is that it uses 60fpm below 30', and 30fpm above that. After well over a year and over 100 dives each (me and my wife each have one), we continue to love this computer. Strongly recommend using MacDive on the computer/phone (the Oceanic app is not good).
Joe S  It is set to ascend safely at 30 feet per minute. If you are deeper than 60 feet it will allow for 60 feet per minute, but 30 feet per minute or slower is recommended for all depths.
Rudolf L  Can I use it with a Mares regulator??
Joe S  Yes you can use this computer regardless of the scuba regulator you chose.
Mario C  yes you can : )
