Oceanic Screen protector

By Gary C.

 -  Longmont, CO, US

Arrived as expected. Fit my propulsion 3 just fine.

Tired of having to submerge your computer in water so you can see through the gauge protector? Once your gauge protector gets scuffed and scratched enough you can hardy read it on the surface between dives, it still protects the computer crystal, but if you can't read the gauge between dives it time to replace it. The Oceanic Lens Protector for the Pro Plus-3 Computer (see SKU's: OCNDMPP3C, OCNDMPP3CQU) is designed to protect your dive computer from scratches, abrasions and harmful U.V. rays. This lens protector is optically clear and easy to install over your computer screen. The lens protector will withstand prolonged exposure to salt, fresh, and chlorinated water. If scratched, the lens protector can be removed easily without leaving any marks or residue behind on the gauge. Lens protector is made from a durable film material and makes a great save-a-dive-kit item.

This product can only be shipped to U.S. addresses.

Doesn't fit and stick

This was a replacement for my old genuine oceanic protector. They must have found a way to cheapen it. The original one was a thin film with a tacky or sticky back that adhered well. This is a very thick piece of vinyl. It is not sticky and is suppose to adhear with static cling. Unfortunately there is a slight curve to the PP3 display and as a result this does not lay properly. It curls up around the sides On the second dive I noticed it had fallen off. As water probably got under the edges ...

Do not buy it!. Peace of shit. It is not sticking. Unfortunately original one was the same. I do not know what I am suppose to do now to keep screen off the scratches.

As water probably got under the edges probably during the stride jump. I saw how my old protector worked well by taking the scuffs and scrapes but without one I don't know how long my screen will last.

Questions & Answers

Questions about this item:

Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
Richard K  Biggest screen I could find (need large numerals due to eye sight limitations).
Shopper  New Screen Protector for PP3 doesn't fit and will not stick like old screen protector did! Now what? I bought the Oceanic PP3 Screen Protector...peels up on one side!
David C  If yours is like mine, it uses static cling to stick to the computer screen. Try washing it in warm soapy water. While it's air drying, clean your computer screen with a soft, dry microfiber cloth. Then see if the screen protector will stick. You could have gotten a bit of sand, moisture or even skin oil on one of the surfaces, causing them to lose their adhesion.
Edward G  I suggest that you call Oceanic customer service directly. This sounds more like a quality problem.
Greg D  I've had the same problem but once I got down to 70-80 feet the problem went away with the pressure. So next time you dive make sure the film is as smooth as possible and hopefully it will stick, plus clear out the air pockets.
MARY D  Try this. After removing the old protector, clean the lanse with some alcohol. Let dry completely. only remove the top portion of the paper backing of the new protector. Place it on the glass and while rubbind the cover in place slowly remove the paper while rubbing the protector all the way down the glass. Let it sit like that for a day before using you computer.
JASON Q  There is a very thin film covering the adhesive side. It is practically invisible. I had to take a razors edge to seperate them. Of course, there are no instructions that specific that "minor" detail. Instructions would have been nice.
Thurmo N  this material is the easily flexible film type that can be cut if needed ... yes ? ... not a more rigid material that will not adhere to the curve faces of the older puck style oceanic data plus computers ?
David C  Yes, this gauge protector can easily be cut to size. It can also be removed and reused. Any scratches on the gauge protector become invisible underwater.
HYRUM T  It is flexible and can easily be cut if needed.
Greg D  Yes, the material will cut easily. It is a bit thicker but very similar to that used to protect smartphone screens. Be sure to order the correct film, for the ProPlus 3 or ProPlus 2 depending on the model you have, which will minimize any need for cutting.
Jerry E  Yep. Flexible.
Jon M  It is soft and could be cut. But it doesn't need to be as it fits the PP3 perfectly.
Paul B  Yes it is soft. Just static clings. Would prefer adhesive though as it does not stick that well.
PAUL D  Can be cut and is flexableJust remember it is sized exactly to the pro plus 3
J. L. M  It is the thin, self adhering film that can be cut if needed.
