Can't beat the price

By James W.

Great budget regulator for weekend warriors. The first stage is sturdy, maybe even a little heavy but feels great. The second stage is light, breathes very well, and looks to be made of good quality parts. This reg is not flimsy at all, I feel like I don't have to worry about breaking anything if it get knocked around in my bag or on kit. The only drawback was the flex material but that's totally personal preference.

Oceanic's Alpha 7 Second Stage and SP5 First Stage produce a low-priced, no-frills regulator system that offers easy breathing. This regulator is so rugged and economical to maintain (replacement parts are inexpensive) that it's become popular as a rental. It can be used with air or nitro mixtures up to 40 % right out of the box. The Alpha 7's super sturdy ABS/polycarbonate housing weighs just 6 oz. (170 g) and measures 2 9" (7 4 cm) in diameter. The lightweight material and anatomically designed mouthpiece translates into a second stage that won't cause jaw fatigue. The Alpha 7 second stage is a dependable downstream demand valve design.

The SP-5 First Stage Regulator offers all divers the opportunity to own a top performing regulator. Repeatedly rated as the best in its class, the SP-5 exceeds both Navy Class A and European CE standards. The SP-5 is a non-balanced flow-by piston designed regulator. This simple yet fail-safe design will deliver air even if there is a first stage failure. Made of marine grade chromed brass for durability and long life, the SP-5 first stage has 4 LP ports and 1 HP port with 3/8" and 7/16" threads. The Regulator weighs 26 oz. (737 1 g) and comes with a 30" (76 2 cm) 3/8" threaded low pressure hose and owner's manual.

This product can only be shipped to U.S. addresses.

Very nice, breaths well and inexpensive. I dive Scubapro and purchased the unit as a backup or loaner for friends.

Leaking, free flowing

By Richard V.

from San Francisco , CA, US

I bought this mid Jan 2017 as part of a BCD, regulator package that's offered here. Did not get a chance to test it then for was busy with my trip to Asia and I trusted Leisurepro to give a good quality product. I finally was able to test it on March 2017 before some fun dives. It's simply leaking, you can hear it. Once on the water, it free flows massively. I've found ways to minimize it but it's so annoying that I have to do it all the time. Embarrassing too and I just tell people that it's very sensitive. So what I do to alleviate this, I don't open my tank until I'm really about to go underwater. But this is risky. Someday, I'd be in a rush and will forget that my tank is close. Of course with the free flowing, I've tried all the techniques that we divers do to stop it. It helps, but cmon, everytime I dive?? The alternate is doing the same thing. I've opened them both already to see if all is ok inside. Very simple design: diaphragm then lever. All looks good. No sand inside. So, something is really wrong internally that was already there right from the start. I'm within the 24 month warranty but to return it will just cost me the same as I'd buy a new, more reliable one.
