Love this fin

By LazyLady

I needed a backup pair of fins, and in a co,our that I could use when swimming around sharks.

rocket feet

By Mike

I bought these to have a set of closed heel fins and now they are my "go-to" fins. Very light and very flexible. Kick hard enough and you'll almost come right out of the water. the fit is a little larger than I like, but once in the water I didn't notice.

The combination of Optimized Pivoting Blade system (OPB) and Super Channel Thrust technology make the Volo Race the perfect fins for divers who want to increase their kick efficiency with minimum effort. The use of OPB for controlling and optimizing the thrust angle, and Super Channel Thrust Technology for perfect routing of the water flow across the fin blade, make Volo Race the diver's choice. Rubber covered stabilizers provide improved performance. Divers and snorkelers alike will enjoy this easy kicking fin. The OPB allows the blade to maintain an optimal angle throughout the kicking cycle, whereas traditional fins achieve this only during a small portion of the cycle, OPB produces a constant thrust, which minimizes fatigue and produces fluid movement through the water. The Mares Volo Race also allows you to use alternate kick strokes not possible with splits fins.

The Volo Race Super-Channel is designed for the diver who wants the perfect blend of power and efficiency in one fin. The new blade design with a large central Super-channel and two traditional lateral channels provide excellent thrust while maintaining hi-efficiency and minimizing leg fatigue. The blade is constructed of Tecralene and Thermoplastic rubber for extended durability. Fin comes in multiple sizes and colors; overall fin length is 23.2" to 28.1" (59 cm to 71.5 cm) and weights 2.2 lbs. to 3.8 lbs. (1.02 kg to 1.74 kg). So, if high performance with minimal exertion, maximum comfort and exceptional light weight - a combination that makes diving more enjoyable, is what you want then Volo Race is what you want.

okay fin

Would probably have given 4 stars if I didn't have a pair of Superchannels first. Good fin, just not as comfortable powerful and responsive as the superchannels.

Good Value for the money

By Lonnie W.

Good Value for the money. eliminated leg and foot cramps. They travel well and are durable. The flex technology gives you an easy kick, with plenty of thrust.

Finally, my own real SCUBA fins!

By Andrew B.

from Secaucus, NJ, US

I really enjoy having these fins (flippers!!!). I have about 70 scuba dives in the last year and a half and all of the have been with my "snorkel fins." Those are full foot too. I got a chance to try on my buddy's open foot fins and I despise them. Even with booties on, the hard foot box is so uncomfortable, and you never feel like your foot is in the right place. So I knew if I wanted a "true" scuba fin I was going to have to pick from the full foot ones available. For some reason, after reading tons of articles and consumer reviews, I gravitated to the Mares Volo Race. I was able to pick the correct size by trying them on at a local dive shop. They are a hint looser than my other fins but they still felt like a good fit. I was worried about rubbing on my feet while using them but there is none of that. The foot is verysecure while still feeling comfortable! And now, the benefit of these fins-they drive significantly harder than my other fins. Thank God because that is what I bought them for! 2-3bkicks now launches me forward where I would have had to continously kick with my other fins. Some other thoughts: I searched for a fin that would give me the benefits I wanted but still be packable in my 30" suitcase. The blades on these are slightly wider and maybe an inch longer than my other fins. They just fit in my suitcase lengthwise. There isn't much of a weight difference, even though these are built more robustly. I also like the yellow color I chose. I looked at the "white" ones. They are actually a more grayish-light blue, or silver. I just liked the yellow. The hardest part was trying to figure out which fins to choose, considering they are all different designs and shapes. For me, these kind of grew on me in the stores and I finally took my other fins in one day and laid them on top of each other to try to discern if the Mares were different enough to be worth taking a chance on. And at the end of the day, the reasonable price got me off the fence and I bought a pair. After about 5 dives and some snorkeling with them, i think my legs have made the adjustment. I love them! Good luck!

Perfect fin , bought another pair as back up

Fin is light weight yet perfect for snorkel or scuba and not bulky at all

Best fins ever!

By Katharine S.

These fins are amazing! I swim in open water near reefs with varying currents. With the Mare fins I feel like I can swim against any current. I like them so much Iâ??ve already bought a pair for my mother and three other pairs for friends. I recommend them to anyone I know who uses fins. One friend said she never could use fins without getting foot cramps. After swimming with the Mare Volo Race Foot Fins she became a convert. Iâ??m between sizes. The 38/39 were just a tad snug so I had to go up to the 40/41. I were neoprene socks to avoid blisters.

Good light weight full footed fin

By THOMAS G.

Excellent travel fin with great thrust. I live in a cold water climate, but got these to do some tropical diving and was very pleased. The foot is plenty wide and comfortable and the fin fits true to size.

Mares Volo Fins

I am an ocean swimmer and look for fins that provide more thrust than just dead weight of most fins. First thing to consider is weight and these fins are light. A big plus. To heavy and they tire you out. Thrust comes when a fin flexes and then snaps back. I cut five inches off the end because in my opinion it's just to soft. This enables the fin to really pop. These do run big as I am size 13 but 11-12 fit perfect. No flex to the foot pocket is a must and these don't flex. Very nice.

Amazing fin!

By Steven C.

These are the easiest kicking fin I've ever tried...but, still really effective. Flutter kicking was easy with no cramps unless I was really over doing it. A couple of guys snorkeling around me noticed how fast I could move when I wanted to...when I see something interesting I want to JET over to see it before a flock of snorkelers attacks! In terms of a fit...I wear a size 12 shoe and my feet are kind of wide. The 11-12 fit me perfectly but I did put on a pair of the nylon dive socks so that I would be more comfortable. Anything thicker than nylon socks would have been too thick. I LOVE these fins!

I bought these so that I would have a backup to my yellow Mares Volo full foot fins, also, in a colour that I could use when swimming around sharks.

Full foot Mares Volo fins

By LazyLady

It takes awhile to find the correct size for a woman's foot...but one you do, they fit like a dream. I got these for my May trip, where I will be diving with sharks. I was informed that yellow was a bad idea, so got these as my shark trip fins.

Great fins!

DMP D  Fassst
Abigale M  Best in 2019 for fins and it's time I bought a pair.
SHARRON L  Mares is a quality scuba equipment company. These fins fit my swimming and diving ability and, on sale, were $26 less than 2 other dive equipment sites.
GREGORY H  I chose this because I hate carrying and wearing booties. I don't really do any cool or cold-weather diving, and to me, these are more than adequate for Hawaii / Caribbean water.
RUSSELL G  I pu0chaced these fins to dive in tropical waters and pack light , elminating the need for booties.
KAREN H  They require very little effort to kick. No leg cramps!
MICHAEL B  I use these for weekly confined Open Water classes. They are easy off and on, require no booties to clean and dry, and allow me to respond to student needs quickly.

HUAN D  How do these fins compare to the Mares Super Channels FF? Does one provide better thrust over the other? Is one more comfortable?
Lonnie W  I really liked these fins. Now my favorite pair. Easy kick, no leg or foot cramps and plenty of thrust. I have numerous dives on them and they are holding up well. Good value.
HUAN D  Has anyone ever had these fins BREAK at the hinge points?
RICKEY R  I have not had that experience even after 5 years using the same pair of fins. I could understand your concern bu as long as you take care not to step of sharps or leave it in the sun for months if poorly stored then yeah I would expect some damages heading your way. The black rubber section seem to be a point that could tear away. But like everything else you gotta take care of it. Excellent pair of fins , I bought a spare pair a year ago and it still hung up in my store room.Enjoy and safe diving !
SEAN O  No, but if you have the Bad habit of standing on your "toes" in fins.." they will break. (fins bent over behind you) Or if left in the sun light all the time will degrade Anything.
ROBERT G  nope. whole family have them. 5 years now still ok.
CINDY Z  Not that I am aware
