The best I tried

By VadimRok

I have owned these fins for a couple of years now, before that I used the Mares Avanti Tre (a weaker, cheaper version) for freediving and spearfishing. Prior to shelling out more than a hundred bucks I decided to go scientific about it. I purchased: an Esclapez with a plastic blade, a [$] fiber Omer Pegaso and compared them with Avanti Tre and Quattro. Esclapez had an excellent footpocket but it was a mismatch with a plastic blade that felt like something out of place. Omer had a universal fo...

Great Underwater Sport Fin

By Jorge

If you are an underwater sports enthusiast and have strong legs and ankles I would recommend these fins to you. I have used softer/shorter fins for underwater hockey and almost invariably my kick would bend them out of shape. With the Quattro I can use a full dolphin kick to get the most out of my legs work. I have been using these fins daily for the past month and I am very satisfied. Whenever your ankle tires out, give it a rest as the fins are rather taxing on the ankles. I would recommen...

Mares Avanti Quattro Power, Ultimate Channel Thrust Fin for Speed, Power and Fun-In-the-Water.
The best all-around full foot fin for diving. The Avanti Quattro Power is perfect for warm water divers, snorkelers and free divers that want ultimate power, comfort and speed. The choice of demanding scuba and free divers, who want comfort combined with extraordinary performance. Channel Thrust technology maximizes the channeling of water and moves a much greater amount of water compared to other fins of the same size.

The result is greater thrusting power with the same amount of effort. Latest development in channel thrust is the super-channel. The blade is designed with a large flexible central Super-channel propelling water-flow more efficiently down the fin blade instead of letting it spill over the sides for optimal performance and minimal diver effort. Vertical ribs that anchor the blade through the kick cycle to eliminate side to side wobbling effect, keeping your kicks stable and reducing power loss, and will help eliminate ankle-twisting phenomena. Fin comes in multiple sizes, and colors, overall fin length is 28" to 29.5" (71cm to 75.5cm) and weights 4.2 lbs. to 5.2 lbs. (1.92 kg to 2.35 kg). Regular size has a blade surface area of 148.8 cubic inches (960 cubic centimeters).

Questions about this item:

Dimi V  Can you recommend a diving backpack for these fins?
LYLE E  There are over size fins made for power & my favorite for high current drift diving......on a an oversized back pack they will exceed the height of the pack( stick out the top) I would be at a loss to recommend a back pack for these fins...
Shopper  I tried 2 6.6-7.5 full foot and found the newer camp was a little looser in the foot than the older black model of the same size. Is this because of manufacturing date or do black run smaller than camp in the same size?
GAYLE T  probably be a little play inside the fin you can always accommodate that by adding a booty to it .if you scuba diver freedive with those fins on long-term during the day you're going to want to have a booty in there
Shopper  I was hoping to get some advice on sizing. I wear an 8.5-9 womens shoe and am not sure if the 6.5-7.5 which is the smallest these come in may still be too big. Any advice from other females who have bought these already?
ANDREW K  I will try to offer you advice! First, I was unaware that women's sizing was offered! I'm a 10.5 in men's shoes but for these fins I order an 8-9 because the 9.5-10.5 is quite large and I end up stretching the 8-9 pockets out anyway! I'm sorry but all I can really offer you is that the sizes run large on the men's sizes! I hope that this makes your decision a little easier and I don't know if I would risk it cause they're not cheap!
MARK T  You can wear booties.
LUCAS X  What's the difference in blade size between the Avanti Quattro Power and the Avanti Quattro Power Pure Instinct?
YAN G  No difference. Exact same fin. Pure Instinct is Mares' Spearfishing website.
Clemens J  How heavy are these? will travel with them so as light as possible
DAVID D  Because of their size, they are a bit heavier than shorter fins. The size can be an issue for packing...my bag is tall and they fit fine
BRUNO F  The weights are in the product specs - click and read.
SHAILENDRA J  Avanti Quattro Powers are pretty heavy fins - both to cary and to swim. I find that after a hour or so in the water, ankles really start getting tired, based on how flutter speed.
