Very light, high volume, practice in its use

By Jorge I.

This bag of Mares I like, is what I need, when it is empty is light, folded occupy little place, which allows to store all the diving equipment wet inside it and that has a large volume of cargo. The Mares Cruise Backpack meets these requirements, I have it recently so I have no data of its durability over time, but I see it very well built with excellent materials and termination. Fantastic Bag--Sturdy and Well-Made

By RAY T.

 -  Santa Barbara, CA, US

I bought one of these a couple of years ago to hold my drysuit and undergarments when I go on my cold water trips. This bag is well-designed and well-thought out. It is light, but sturdy. It's so great, I'm ordering another one today. My fear is that Mares will stop making it.

The Mares Cruise Backpack Dry, is an ultra-lightweight and completely watertight backpack. Weighing in at only 2.4 lbs. (1.1 kg) when empty, this bag makes for the perfect travel backpack. But what makes this a great diving travel bag is the fact that it features watertight radio frequency (RF) heat sealing for a waterproof gear bag. The bags large internal volume is quite generous at 6,590 cubic inches (108 liters) for whatever you may need to stash in it. Plus, the zipper is anticorrosive and the adjustable shoulder straps are detachable making the bag a convenient tote. The Cruise Dry Backpack is a must have for the traveling diver.

The padded detachable shoulder straps have an adjustable cross-chest sternum strap that provides added stability to the long haul. All straps come equipped with squeeze-style" side-release buckles for easy adjustments and donning and doffing. Padded top and dual padded shoulder strap grab handles make lifting the bag into the trunk of car, rear hatch of SUV, truck bed or onto a baggage carousel quick and easy. Bag is built-to-last made from a durable 600/600D 78T nylon fabric with 0.5mm polyurethane (PU) backing, and 420D honeycomb 0.22mm thick material. Bag measures 16.5" x 13" x 31" (42 cm x 33 cm x 79 cm) and is a great choice for those who work in damp or wet conditions.

Major flaw

By MiddleGround

Like the other customer mentioned, the handles on the end of the bag are - perplexingly - ironed on. Mine came off within 4 uses... truly unfortunate since this bag was the perfect bag in shore-diving situations where I can't use a roller bag, and where I struggle to carry my gear. I tried to patch the handles back on with super glue, but it didn't take very well. So now, I will seek out a cobbler to see if they can be stitched on. Overall, a waste of time (not to mention, money). Frustrating. Had I purchased this bag through LP I am sure their exceptional customer service team would be happy to resolve the issue. I bought it elsewhere and just came here to see if anyone else had the same problem.

Nice try, but is a horrible buy.

By Jeffrey D.

I bought this bag for a trip to Costa Rica, it held my dive gear and my clothes. The handles are ironed on to the main bag, they started pulling away during the trip. At the airport on the way home the top portion of the backpack straps came completely off of the bag. The grab handle on the bottom was almost off as well. This idea could work if Mares would sew the handles to the bag and reinforce that area.
