BEST MASK FOR EQUALIZING PROBLEMS PERIOD

By JANGLE

I have always had problem equalizing, with this mask I have absolutely zero problems equalizing! I have been to an ENT, had a CT scan, everything, this mask is the ONLY reason I can dive. Forget the vented ear plugs, this mask works hands down!!! The fit is great, once you get used to having the ears "cupped" it takes ZERO effort to equalize. I will buy another as a back-up in the future, this is the best piece of gear I own hands down, THANK YOU PRO EAR!!! This is a must buy!!!!

Great product!

By JIM S.

I had to give up diving several years ago because I had tubes put in my ears. I was thrilled to find out about this mask and the chance to dive again. I've read hundreds of reviews on this mask and 90% of reviews are very positive. I've tested it out in the bathtub (yes, I filled up the tub so I could lay back with my head submerged, lol) and it worked excellent, no water at all in the ear cups. I'll be testing it out in a pool soon, then fresh water diving no deeper than 25', if that goe...

For many divers, from beginners to the most experienced professionals, ear problems affect their ability to enjoy their sport more than any other health issue. More dives are aborted, and more diving holidays shortened due to ear problems than any other cause.

Water and pressure affect every diver's ears. Infection and discomfort to the ear are the most common health risks involved in diving, often causing permanent damage. Many divers find they must interrupt expensive, long awaited diving holidays because of ear problems. The financial loss and unfulfilled expectations are enormous.

Pro Ear is the world's only practical ear protector for divers, designed and developed by diving physicians, engineers and instructors at Safe Dive LTD to enhance diver safety and comfort. The Pro Ear unique design and performance, allows divers to keep their ears dry, thereby: Improving diver comfort and preventing painful ear problems, improving hearing and sense of direction underwater and simplifying equalization of pressures while diving.

The mask skirt is made from the best grade of crystal clear, hypoallergenic silicone. This double feathered edge skirt is soft and automatically conforms to a wide range of facial profiles. The wide split style strap is mounted on swivel buckles. The silicone strap with its large contact surface secures the mask to the wearer. The silicone rubber double feathered edge skirt and wide split style mask strap combine to create a perfect seal on the face. The soft silicone ear covers forms a water tight seal between the ear drum and the cover. The pressure buffer created has the same pressure as your nasal cavity mask when air exhaled through the nose is introduced through the equalization tubes. Therefore, the pressure experienced in your middle ear and outer ear is the same and the squeeze" from the ambient environment will be significantly reduced. Other benefits by keeping the ears sealed include reduced chance of an ear infection from water, improved sense of direction and warmth retention.

Dual tempered glass window design with large nose pocket for ease of equalization and low profile, low volume design, allows a wide field of vision. Equalization Tubes: With one-way valve placed inside each tube, air is-allowed-to-travel from the mask to the ear covers for pressure equalization and water clearance while stopping water from flooding the mask in the unlikely event of flooded ear covers. Mask is available with a clear silicone skirt with a black of blue frame. Mask comes with a user manual.

Questions & Answers

Questions about this item:

Shopper  What if it gets knocked off , while at certain depths ?
darrick c  Hello, then I would suggest carrying a back-up mask if you are worried this would get knocked off your face.
LUIS G  Can you add corrective lenses to this mask? Is there an option?
Mario C  We do not sell for this mask.,, still you can find companies that add bonded correction lenses to any mask.. google bonded scuba prescription lenses.
Robert M  When you enter the water from a high dock or boat do the ear pieces come off like a mask would if you do not secure it with your hand?
Mario C  Thank you for the great question and answers. I was not sure about this one. Apparently not an issue. I believe that with enough height and/or improper landing it could move. I would try to avoid a giant stride from heights when possible, just like when wearing any other mask, but I understand conditions not always allow for in water gearing.
BRENDON W  I haven't had that trouble, but either way it is fairly easy to adjust once in the water. Now - wearing it with a hood - something of a different story.
JOHN C  No. I usually secure the ear covers with the secondary snorkel strap so no way it will come off.
JAMES B  Have not had a problem with holding mask and regulator with one hand for Giant Stride entries nor have had a problem with back roll holding strap with one hand and mask and regulator with the other
STEVEN M  Hello.  I recently had tubes put in my ears, yet would like to be able to scuba dive with my 11 year old son.  Will this mask keep water out of my ears, keep them dry, if worn properly?  Thank you for any advice.
DAN D  I have perforations in both ears and have used them for years -including scuba diving.I really cant go in the water without them. They allowed me to enjoy the ocean again!
JIM H  Hi, Steve. I have a punctured eardrum. Prior to this mask, the experience of getting water in my ear under water was immediately and dangerously disorienting and I would suffer with intense pain for days to come. Earplugs - even custom-made ones - were ineffective. This mask is the best I've found so far at protecting the ears, however, it does not keep them completely dry (head movements cause the neck muscles to flex and disrupt the flatness of the earcups' contact with the neck). Still, they're so much better than anythiing else I've tried. I pair them with silicone earplugs (the ones that look like a small stick with a series of rings of increasing size, giving the appearance of a little Christmas tree) and the combination has kept me safe so far, though I still feel a very threatening pressure at depths of 40-50+ feet. I wish you luck in using this and hope you will post something if you find an even better solution!
Amritesh R  Hey Jim, I also use a similar earplug. Don't they hurt when inside? Also I getting my IST ProEar in a few days I cant wait to swim again with my punctured eardrum!!
GRANT M  It kept my ears dry just fine, helped with equalizing and pressure build up. However the mask leaked, like a screen door, around the edges, never could get it to seal properly. I sent it back and got a regular mask.
Nan S  No seal easily leaks
BRIAN F  I’ve had multiple ear drum ruptures and can no longer dive... I use mine for snorkeling and it does a great job keeping the water out. On my second mask and have been using for years.
Amritesh R  Hello, do you also use earplugs?
Andrew B  Any comments or experience of using this mask with a hood?  Also, does it fog up?
JIM H  I never used it with a hood. The lenses are tempered glass and behave like lenses any other high-quality mask; i.e., the fogging depends on how well you prepare the mask. If you properly use de-foggers (like the bottled solutions or even saliva), the lenses stay nice and clear. If not, they'll fog.
Mario C  There is a hood made for it ( link below) same tempered glass as other scuba masks, if not treated ( cleaned and defogged before dive) will fog.
