Henderson 3mm front zipper thermoprene wetsuit

By ANDREW C.

 -  Oxford, MD, US

Bought this item due to the cost and front zipper. Have had several rear zippered suits but always had a difficult time reaching the zipper and pulling it up. Suit fits well although I probably could have gotten one size smaller. Front zipper is great, it does take a bit of time to get an arm free of the sleeve after a dive, but I would not go back to the rear zippered suits due to the ease of putting it on.

Great travel companion, this full-length 3mm nylon 2 jumpsuit is outfitted with a generously cut front-zipper that some divers prefer for easier donning. An anatomically friendly suit design translates into a form-enhancing fit and better thermal performance. As with all Thermoprene suits, divers also get the benefits of the best in construction techniques. The abrasion resistant Thermoprene material is both glued and blind stitched, which clamps down on water seepage and provides tremendous durability. Cuffs are finished with a Lycra trim and Freedom Flex kneepads guard the knees and lower legs without sacrificing comfort.

Divers seeking a great value will appreciate Thermoprene's balance of performance and price. The latest technological innovation from Henderson, this new material delivers greater flexibility and improved features not found in standard neoprene wet suits, yet at a reasonable cost perfect for the cost-conscious buyer. Thermoprene is crafted from a high quality neoprene and a low pill fabric. It has 75% more stretch than standard neoprene. Thermoprene is noticeably easier to don, pulling over the shoulders and around the torso with less huff and puff than standard wet suits. Also, the fabric's exterior stands up extremely well to the wear of BC straps and weight belts. Suit is available in multiple sizes.

Henderson Thermoprene 3mm Front Zip

I'm disappointed, I've only had the suit about 4 weeks, have done about 25 dives and the thread is coming apart. Help?

Nice wetsuit at a good price

By Richard C.

I was a little concerned about sizing, but reassured by the exchange policy. At 6'2" and 190 lbs I decided to try the large. If fits very nicely.

GREAT WETSUIT

By scott

from PORTLAND, TX, US

I AM 6'5" AND WEIGH 270. THIS WETSUIT FITS GREAT. THE THING ABOUT A FRONT ZIP THAT YOU NEED TO KNOW IF YOU HAVE NEVER WORN ONE IS THAT YOU CAN GET IT ON BY YOUR SELF BUT YOU CANNOT GET IT OFF. MAKE SURE SOMEONE IS WITH YOU THAT CAN PULL IT OFF AROUND YOUR SHOULDERS FOR YOU OR YOUR GOING TO BE IN IT FOR A LONG TIME.

Easy to put and take off.

It is very soft and comfortable, easy to put on and easy to take off, well buit and nice looking. Henderson wetsuits are the best in comfort and durability.

First Scuba Suit

By Dana L.

In the interest of helping prevent returns of this item, I will be a clear as possible to help you decide on your purchase. This is my first scuba suit purchase, so I can understand if you are apprehensive about the cost of the suit, but I can assure you that the suit is well made and I could not find it for a cheaper price than with Leisure Pro. I am male, 5' 6" tall, 152lbs with a 30 inch waist and a 41 inch chest. I have low blood pressure, so I cannot afford, nor can I tolerate swimming in cold water, which is why I opted for the 3mm. From what I have been told, even veteran scuba divers would recommend the longer suit over the shorty when you have a tendency of getting cold, even when going to areas such as Cozumel Mexico (Warmer Water). Also, it protects you from the sting of Jelly Fish, which would be enough to ruin your vacation plans. I was originally going to buy the medium, but after trying it on in the store, it seemed a bit long and not snug. Keep in mind that even if the suit is snug on dry land, it will relax in the water. I bought the small and it fits perfectly with a couple extra inches in the legs, but they will fit into the booties nicely. I also opted for the front zipper instead of the back zip. It takes a few more seconds to get out of, but with the zipper is in the front, you can lower the zipper a little to prevent that feeling of claustrophobia that you may get when the neck piece starts to squeeze, as is the case with the rear zip version and you don't have to pull the top down after a dive, which will help you keep warm. I felt confined with the rear zipper because the neck piece is taller and constricts. The suit has knee pads, which seem durable and will help keep the knees from wearing thin after a few uses. Finally, as stated previously, I weigh 152lbs, but can tell that this suit may allow someone who is about 160lbs as it does stretch.

Perfect

By Papa

Perfect for diving. Very easy to get in or out with front zipper. Dries for a long time - but not longer than any other suit.

Good Fit, but...

By BRUCE H.

from 12033, NY, US

I haven't used this in the water yet, but I can comment on the fit and finish. I own other Henderson gear, and this wet suit is up to standards as far as craftmanship. The front zipper is nice, and seems sturdy enough to hold up. As to its "fit"; I am a size 32 waist, and generally wear "small" sizes in clothing. I originally ordered a small for this wetsuit, but found it way too tight and exchanged in for a medium. The medium seems to be tight enough; and the exchange process w/ Leisure Pro was foolproof and smooth; so I'm happy all around.

Very Nice!

By ScubaShafer

I like the front zipper, but you need to become accustomed to taking it off. I wish the zipper would go down farther to make it easier to urinate underwater. I am very happy with it!

The Shits

By ROBERT W.

from Kihei, HI, US

Henderson was never that well built but was adequate for a few seasons and fit great until it didn't fit at all. I bought 3 identical wetsuits from Henderson over the years until the last one--4" longer in the mid-section. Henderson says they did not change their sizing, so maybe they went to a different Chinese supplier. Does not fit. Sent it back. Waste of time.

Questions & Answers

Questions about this item:

Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
THOMAS M D  front zipper
Fred C  I have not bought a wetsuit for years. This on had pretty good reviews and a good price so I will try it
Corey H  Fellow divers recommended. Best quality.
Philip J  1. I do not like back zip wetsuits. 2. The reviews were positive.
DONALD H  Best fit available based on sizes listed in various manufacturers charts and one of the few front zip suits available.
ROBERT E  arguably one of the best brands available. The thermoprene feels wonderful and stretches a ton
JP B  Neck seal: Has anyone noticed more water intrusion using this suit vs. a backzip suit?
Paul S  Actually this would depend on water temperature, in most of coral area, if water is warm this can be ignored, during summertime jumpsuit function is more like a protective layer than keeping warm, but I prefer using back zipper as front zipper squeezes me neck underwear, feeling very uncomfortable
MATTHEW L  Not really, make sure you get proper size. If too big it will definitely flush.
Josh W  I have done a few cold water dives and mine seemed to work great. Normal water seapage but stayed warm the hole dive
Robert W  No...and I’ve made many dives in cool water with this suit over the past 2 years. When the water gets below 75 degrees or so I wear a vest with an attached hood underneath and it all works out great! Easy to get in and out of...which is the main reason I bought one. Awesome suit!
THOMAS P  No the suit is very nice and easy to get I and off
M M  I have not noticed more water intrusion using this wet suit versus a back-zip suit. Though a zipper in the front may seem more convenient, self removing this front-zipper suit is EXTREMELY difficult and cumbersome compared to a back-zip suit. With a back-zipper wet suit, I can use both hands to remove the wet suit from my shoulders, but with the front-zipper wet suit, I always need someone to remove the wet suit from my shoulders. Had I known this before my own purchase of this wet suit, I would have chosen a back-zip wet suit. My recommendation: Do not buy a front-zipper wet suit. They are difficult to self remove from the shoulders.
Michael F  I weigh 190 pounds and 5'9' with a 44 chest and 34 waist which size would fit best x or xl?
Michael F  Thanks.
BRUCE S  Mike F - I am about your size except 6' and the XL fits me just fine.
EMORY H  go to two x i got the two x for my self but the two was tight so had to go up a size for better room
Steve S  For those measurements I would suggest the XL/Short. The XL/Short fits most of your measurements, but it may be a bit large in the waist though. If you get the suit and don't like the fit, you can exchange the suit using of PFF Guarantee by calling 800.637.6880.
ALEXANDER D  I have been between sizes myself. This suite stretches very decently. For my 180+ lb at the time, large worked OK (I since dropped a few more lb's and switched to a different suite). For 190 lb it could be a bit of a stretch, but you will never know until you actually have tried it on - it might as well (mind that it is proper if it feels just a bit tight when you are not in the water). I also understand that LP has a good return policy, so if you fall in-between on the size chart - why don't you try the smaller size first and then, if it doesn't work, exchange it for a size up?
ALICIA P  I think x would fit best. I bought a "m" size and my weight is 150 , chest 38 and 32 inch waist. This is a little loose on me but may be to tight for you.
Thomas G  I'm 5'9" 185. Large fit me. Any larger and I think I would have extra material around the knees. Its very stretchy.
ROBERT E  The large fit me perfect at the exact same size. It will loosen after you wear if a few times and feel absolutely perfect .
NOEL L  Hello Mike. I am 170 lbs and 5' 7". I bough the medium and it fits perfect. So will suggest the x. The suit does have a bit of stretch to it though I doubt you will need it. Hope this helps.
NAN H  Xl
CESAR S  Your probably an x. Im 240lbs w/ 40 waist and have xxl. Legs are long but had rhem cut.
