Explanation on the Back Pressure Relief Feature
Blue Steel Valve

This "indent" on the insert is normal part of manufacturing process. It allows any built up pressure under o-ring to equalize to assure proper pressure seal of o-ring in o-ring groove. In addition it is a point that enables easier removal with o-ring pick and installation of the new “Yoke Seal” o-ring which is a wear item and should be replaced under normal periodic inspection/maintenance.

If you are not using steel cylinders, try to use one and you will soon realize what you have been missing. Faber can offer you the most comprehensive range of cylinders for scuba diving. Every year Faber produce and sell around the world 100,000 cylinders for scuba diving (out of 600,000 in totals). No other manufacturer in the world can match their capabilities and the breadth of their range. Faber Tanks and valves are nitrox ready.

The construction of the Faber cylinders allows the diver to remove lead weight from their weight belt or integrated weight system of the BCD, providing the diver to better distribute weight by moving it to the rear of the BCD which is a great advantage when wearing a back-inflation style (Wing) BCD. Aluminum cylinders, as we breathe the weight of air from them, create positive buoyancy at or near the end of a dive. The steel cylinder with its negative buoyancy throughout the dive allows you to shed the excess lead that is required to keep you properly trimmed while you dive an aluminum cylinder. Faber HP cylinders have a round bottom and come equipped with a cylinder boot.

The Faber cylinders are 3442 psi (237 bar) working pressure cylinders, negatively buoyant from -8.05 lbs. to -9.08 lbs. (-3.65 kg to -4.12 kg) when full and are -1.74 lbs. to +1.45 lbs. (-789 g to +658 g) when empty. Cylinders are made from deep drawn chromium molybdenum steel and are triple protected zinc sprayed and epoxy and polyurethane painted or hot dipped galvanized. When shipped the tanks, valves will be removed and the tank will require re-inspection before being filled Note: All Faber cylinders meet certificated specifications of the US Department of Transportation (DOT) with DOT special permit number 13488 and Transport Canada (TC) with special permit number SU7694-237.

The Faber DIN/Yoke Manifold Kit easily converts back and forth from DIN to Yoke fitting depending on the type of first stage regulator to be used in conjunction with the cylinder increasing the versatility of the tank. Valves are made from durable marine grade chrome plated brass. Manifold valve is available for 3442 psi or 2400 psi (200/232 bar). Manifold has a female DIN connections with 5 threads when insert is removed. Manifold valve is designed with high flow characteristics to maximize regulator performance. Sturdy extended rubber handwheel grips for easy on/off even with gloved hand. Each component has a handwheel for left, right and isolator. Heavy duty valve mechanism (internal parts) designed for durability and smooth on/off operation. Integrated multi ported plug and disc design safety assembly for easy replacement and is recessed to protect against damage during diving or transportation. Dip tube incorporates hex wrench flats for easy installation and removal. The manifold valve to cylinder threads are standard 3/4" x 14 NPSM straight threaded cylinder connection with O-ring seal. Designed and tested to meet global valve manufacturing standards and manufactured with oxygen compatible materials and lubricants. Each manifold valve is packaged in heat sealed bag and individual box to assure oxygen compatibility. Manifold is designed to fit cylinders with diameters of 6.9" to 8.01" (17.53cm to 20.35cm).

Setting-up a twin cylinder rig for expanded depth or bottom time requires the proper hardware. The Faber Cylinder Bands are made from a durable 304 stainless steel with high quality #4 finish and are complete with an 18-8 stainless steel bolt kit for mounting on cylinders. The band widths are 2.5" (6.35cm) for all sizes and fit Faber cylinders and manifolds.

All Scuba cylinders need a tank boot to protect the lower surface from damage. The steel cylinders need a tank boot even more with their round bottom design. The boot allows the tank to stand up straight on a stable flat surface making mounting of buoyancy compensators, harness systems and regulators easier. Faber tank boots are specially made for Faber steel cylinders. These self-draining flexible PVC boots are easy to assemble to the tank and provide a streamline profile for tank racks or double cylinder set-ups.

As a bonus the 2 Blue Steel DIN/Yoke type valves ready-to-use as independent single cylinders are included. The Faber DIN/Yoke Valve easily converts back and forth from DIN to Yoke fitting depending on the type of first stage regulator to be used in conjunction with the cylinder increasing the versatility of the tank. Valves are made from durable marine grade chrome plated brass. Valve has a female DIN connection with 5 threads when insert is removed. Valve is designed with high flow characteristics to maximize regulator performance. Sturdy extended rubber handwheel grip for easy on/off even with gloved hand. The valve to cylinder threads are standard 3/4" x 14 NPSM straight threaded cylinder connection with O-ring seal. Designed and tested to meet global valve manufacturing standards and manufactured with oxygen compatible materials and lubricants. Each valve is packaged in heat sealed bag and individual box to assure oxygen compatibility.

Steel Cylinder Hydro Dates
Blue Steel The Distributor of Faber tanks makes every effort to ship the newest possible hydro date on all cylinders. However, due to high manufacturing quantities on various models, fluctuating sales volumes due to market conditions, hydro inventory will very. Cylinders shipped within 16 months of Manufacture date are considered "current hydro"

This product can only be shipped to U.S. and Canada addresses.

Q&A

Questions & Answers

Questions about this item:

Shopper  Does the manifold use air from both cylinders at the same time?
Mario C  Thank you for your question. This is an isolation manifold, meaning you can use gas from one specific tank or from both at the same time.
Shopper  Which backplate would work with this setup?
Mario C  Thank you for your question. One of the advantages of a back plate system is being modular and therefore accommodating both single sets and doubles with a few adjustments and parts. All back plates should work with this system.
RAY Z  does this set up come with 2 tanks?
Christopher D  Yes it does
