I bought this harness to go with my OMS stainless steel backplate. it fits great and is very comfortable. it takes a lot of adjusting to make it fit perfectly, but thats half the fun.
the instructions are kinda tricky but with some fiddling you'll eventually figure it out.
also comes with sleeves to protect your the webbing in the areas where it comes in contact with the backplate. A nice surprise.
perfect harness for DIR divers. has everything you need and nothing you dont.
Second time around...

This is my second Dive-Rite deluxe harness with quick release buckles - my first one is performing perfectly on a 12lb backplate - this one will be for my 2lb backplate and get to enjoy tropical waters instead of the 40F water here in Atlantic Canada BRRR!!!
It's comfortable and easy to attach to a backplate. The quick release buckle makes it easy to take off the setup in the water and the stainless steel accessories last for years.
The Dive Rite Deluxe Harness with Quick Release Buckles is a webbing harness designed for hard back-plates that provides comfort and ease of entry/exit along with streamlining. Swivel points on the shoulder straps ensure a comfortable fit, which is especially important for women and, also, men with broad shoulders. The neoprene sleeves are no longer included. A chest strap (sternum strap) keeps the harness in place while a left shoulder 2" (5.1cm) Delrin "squeeze style" quick release buckle allows for easy donning and doffing of equipment. 2" (5.1cm) nylon webbing provides strength with 7,000 lbs (3,175kg) of tensile strength, yet is soft and won't dig into the body.
Waist portion of the harness allows for customization with a wide variety of pockets and accessories, depending on the needs and desires of the individual diver. Harness is adjustable by cutting off excess webbing once diver has seized the harness to their body stature. Deluxe harness with quick release buckle includes marine grade 316-stainless-steel hardware which includes:two pre-bent D-rings on the shoulder straps, two additional D-rings on the waist strap and a belt buckle. 1" (2.5cm) nylon webbing with a 2,200 lbs (998kg) tensile strength with a 1" (2.5cm) Delrin "squeeze style" quick-release buckle is used for the chest strap. Harness weight is 26 oz (737g), and is proudly made in the U.S.A.

It should be plenty webbing for a 3x person.
Six feet of two-inch (50mm) nylon webbing forms the upper harness and is rated at 7,000 lbs breaking strength. Includes a stainless steel grommet at the midpoint for access to upper bolt hole

Can a crotch strap be added to this harness from Dive Rite?
DREW L
Yes
Gregory L
It depends on your backplate. If your backplate has a slot for a crotch strap, then yes. The backplate in the picture has such a slot, but no backplate comes with this harness. Backplate has to be purchased separately.
MARC D
Yes it can be added. I recommend the 2" crotch strap.
STAN H
Definitely can. And actually should!
Sabrina L
Yes, assuming that you get a back plate with that notch in the bottom as seen in the picture of the item (not that I think there is alternative to getting one with the notch).
SE HWAN P
including crotch strap?
DAVID F
Crotch strap is optional.
JOE M
I needed the crotch strap to help keep the back of the dive plate down & to use as an attachment point for my scooter. I don't care for the quick release buckle on the strap & have zip tied that part. Other than that it wks fine. Hope this helps

Do I need a crotch strap with this?
ANDREW Y
It's not completely necessary but will help stabilize your harness.
DOROTHY J
Not unless you want it. I do not use one but can add if I want
GRAHAM M
Only if you scooter
DAVID F
I use a crotch strap, mainly because I already had one. I suppose it adds a little stability, certainly no harm in using it. I wear this with a tri-lam dry suit that's got lots of "loose" material. With a tight wetsuit, I don't know how comfortable that crotch strap would be.
DENNIS H
Using a crotch strap is a personal choice in equipment, just as using a wing in lieu of a vest is. I have never used mine. Perhaps if you are shaped like an egg you would require one.
JAMES M
I purchased a wider crotch strap with neoprene cover to use with this. The overall quality is good.
MICAH P
Yes, the harness does not come with one
RALPH W
That's a personal decision, but it doesn't come with one.
I wear one when I'm diving with steel doubles & a dry suit. With an aluminum signle & wetsuit I wouldn't bother.

Please advise how much it's weight?
DAVID F
Maybe this weighs a pound, I never put it on a scale. It's just some webbing, plastic snaps and a few D rings.
ROBERT R
This harness is just for a wings plate there are no weights. I use it with the Dive Right back pack plate and double tanks. It is a nice harness.
JOSE L
I'm not sure about the exact weight, but it's just a little bit heavier than a standar hogarthian harness.
DENNIS H
Depends on how many of the d rings you use and how much of the webbing you cut off. As well how many retaining clips you use. Are you big or small? It is the versatile piece of equipment it is sold as.
