very useful!

By JOHN I.

I use one of these to help steady myself for photography and it works very well. It is also very useful in getting the attention of fellow divers. If there is a downside, it is that it can be noisy in your suitcase.

Excellent noise maker

Great product, best used by shoving into wetsuit sleeve for easy access. Also useful as a tank banger. I would highly reconmend.

The Blue Reef Rattle Pointer is two important dive accessories in one. With this Rattle Pointer, you can grab your dive buddies attention with the built-in rattle handle. Just shake it and a loud rattle will be emitted to gather anyone s attention in your vicinity. On the other side of this handy accessory is an 8" (20.3cm) pointer so that you can easily and safely share your underwater discoveries with all of your dive buddies. This Blue Reef Rattle Pointer is non-corrosive and comes with it s own wrist strap.

Works great

I would change the actual cord for an elastic wrist band

Handy Pointer

By MICHAEL T.

This steel pointer can be used to check in anemones for critters, stabilize one on the reef or bottom in a current, or point out things to your buddy. It has a clip at the to attach to a D-ring on one's BCD and a rattler next to it to draw peoples' attention.

Questions about this item:

Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
MICHAEL T  I bought these for my dive buddies to try and compare w/ the XS Scuba Divemaster Pointer for all sorts of uses.
Shopper  Is this made of stainless steel?
WILLIAM M  Yes.
Philip H  Chromed brass. More resistant than stainless and not subject to crevice corrosion but can wear off. . I’ve banged the pointer end many times hard against a tank and no chipping or wear.
Roberto T  I think it is. It has worked well for a few years now and is a great tool to position myslef to take photographs and call the attention of my buddy.
THOMAS F  I believe it is aluminum
Robert P  Yes its stainless steel
RYAN S  It “looks”and feels like heavily chrome plated steel or brass, not stainless. I don’t know for sure; but I don’t think it’s stainless. I have had it for years and it’s never rusted. It still looks mirror like.
Joshua H  How is the noise maker? Is it loud enough, is it unintentionally loud when moving?
MICHAEL T  The rattler is not noisy unless one shakes it. It can also be used as a tank banger.
MICHELLE S  It is loud enough to attract the intended attention, and not an unnecessary noise maker when not in use, however, I stole mine in my BC pocket so as not to dangle.
Judy G  I really love this pointer! It is loud enough to be heard clearly. I find that it will inadvertently rattle on it's own so I just keep the rattle in my hand and that keeps it quiet. Hope this helps!
Pam K  The rattle underwater is not very loud but it is enough when I tap on the tank for others to hear. I jingle some about water but again it is not very loud. I really like being able to point and even put the pointer onto the reef to stay in one place for a few minutes. My son discovered when attached to our BCD that he can slip it into the side of the weigh belt pocket so it doesn't drag when not in use while diving.
PEYTON W  It is loud enough if your buddy is aware of its sound. It did not make noise with normal body movement. Pointer was useful both for pointing and anchoring yourself during Cozumel drift dive. Hope this helps.
