Best folding Titanium dive knife

By ALAN C.

 -  Fairfield, OH, US

Titanium =Light weight would makes a great travel dive knife 76 gram (2 5/8 oz) Stainless pins through grip non removable. Very sharp on delivery including serrated edge cuts well. Have 500+ dives in salt water [8 years] and NO RUST !! Some reviewers complained line cutter notch catches, this was fixed by detuning sharp top edge with small file. Replaced cord for tougher line and clip. Opens easily left or right handed just pinch notch in spine of blade between thumb and middle finger as it...

Just Works

By KOSH

 -  Melbourne, Victoria, AU

I purchased one of these maybe 16 years ago, I stopped diving for almost 10 years and resumed again last year, so after years of use and 10 years of sitting in a cupboard I would of though it would be rusted and unusable, not so much the blade but the pins/lock. But no, no rust and is in perfect working order.

This Blue Reef Folding Knife is made of titanium; no-rust, no-magnetism, and no-maintenance! The folded 4.5" (11.4cm) knife fits conveniently into your pocket and opens into a full length 8" (20.3cm) knife. The 3.5" (8.9cm) blade with its sharp drop point tip, partial serrated edge, and a line cutter for everyday use has a spring-loaded lock for safety. Knife comes equipped with a convenient slide locking lanyard for added-security to clip to your BCD or harness.

Questions & Answers

Questions about this item:

QUINNE P  How do I close it? I can't find a button or anything to release the spring-lock.
darrick c  Hello Quinne, in the middle of the handle there is a notch you press down on to secure the blade back into the handle.
ROBERT R  Is the knife blade solid titanium or just titanium coated? What are the other metal parts of the knife made of?
Dean A  I believe the blade is solid titanium. I've used it a number of times and it has some scratches but doesn't have any corrosion whatsoever. I'm pretty sure the release is also titanium but wouldn't swear to it. Looks identical and has no corrosion either. The rivets are stainless. My SOG Seal Pup which is a coated blade, is rusty as hell. Plus the fact that this knife is very lightweight leads me to believe it's all titanium.
NATHAN S  It appears to be solid titanium. No evidence of oxidation Good solid knife
Gerard V  Solid, not coated.
robert w  What is the overall length when open?
Dean A  It's 8 1/4" or about 210mm.
Gerard V  It should be in the specs area. 8 inches
robert w  Thanks Jerry. I was just curious about the blade length because I sometimes cut large rope.
Shopper  How easy is it to open with a gloved hand?
Dean A  Not overly difficult but does take a bit of practice to get proficient. Most folding knives will open pretty easily by just using the thumb but with this one I need to use my thumb and forefinger to get it started and then the thumb can complete the job. Not a big deal, just a little practice. I don't think you could do it with thick cold weather gloves but I can't really speak to that as I only dive in warm water with typical tropical type gloves.
ALLEN K  easy enough, very Good knife
RICHARD A  Very easy
JOHN B  Pretty easy. I had no issues with 3mm gloves.
Gerard V  It is easy to open, even with a 5 mm glove. I haven't opened it that often, but didn't have a problem when I did.
Shopper  Anyone have any idea what the OTHER metal parts are made of? If the pins, spine lock, and spring are all plain steel, then it won't matter how corrosion resistant the blade is. If everything is titanium, I'd be up for one, right now!
RICHARD A  Only the blade...but the other parts are holding up as long as I rinse it well
ALLEN K  I have been using this Knife for a number of years diving in salt water. Rinse it off with fresh water after every dive, no rust. It is the sharpest blade and holds an edge better than any SS knife I own. My best guess that SS is used for everything but Blade and handle. Won't find better knife for the price
