Good buy

By JoMarie A.

Great light. It’s small and fits nicely in my hand. Not super heavy and provides lots of light with its 1200 lumens.

This light has been Bigblue's best-selling light for the last 5+ years and shows no signs of slowing down. It's also a trusted back-up light for tech divers. This is the perfect light for general purpose or to peer into crevices to find hidden critters! Light provides 1200 lumens in level IV at 6500K color temperature, has a narrow 10° penetrating beam angle from an XML LED. Four power settings to reduce intensity and increase battery life. The light provides 1200 lumens (Level IV), 600 lumens (Level III) 300 lumens (Level II) and 120 lumens (level I). There is also an SOS function for emergency signaling. The lights burn times are 2-hours (level IV), 5-hours (level III), 10-hours (level II) and 20-hours (level I). Power is supplied by the rechargeable lithium-ion 18650 battery pack. A color-coded battery indicator lets you know when to recharge the battery for optimum use.

Built-to-last with the housing made from anodized aluminum means rugged dependability. Lens is made from tempered optical glass and the light is depth rated to 330' (100 meters). The light measures (L x Dia.) 5.5" x 1.3" (139.8 mm x 33.2mm), weighs 5.93 oz. (168 g) with battery is -2.7 oz. (-76 g) underwater. Included with the Bigblue AL1200NP-II 1200 Lumens LED Light is a roll top dry bag, battery charger, wrist lanyard and owner's manual. The Bigblue AL1200NP-II 1200 Lumens LED Light is a great primary recreational dive light.

Very Poor Quality

Apparently the "II" isn't the same quality as the original. I never even got it in the water. Unboxed it and after cycling the power switch a couple times the light wouldn't turn off. The switch would illuminate blue for a few pushes and then go out but the light stayed on the high setting. The only way to turn it off was to unscrew the body so the battery stopped making contact. I emailed Bigblue to ask what the difference was between the original and the "II" and Christine replied that...

Great Light For the Money

By Scott S.

Super bright and charge lasts a long time. Great light for the money.

Awesome dive light

By Joe H.

The Big Blue AL 1200NP is an excellent dive light is providing tremendous illumination and long battery life. This is my second AL 1200 which I purchased for my wife. The light is very durable and the switch works flawlessly. That is not always the case with dive lights. But perhaps one of the best features is the customer service that Big Blue provides should you need any help. They are outstanding. I highly recommend the AL1200.

solid quality narrow beam light

By arturo

Light feels and looks solid and well built. reflector and machining all looks quite precision engineered. I've seen several cheap ebay knock-offs that look similar however they just fail after a couple uses. For the money I would expect the Bigblue to tapdance or something but alas no; Only you get what you pay for because the Bigblue just works well and has not failed under the same use. I would describe it as Insanely bright compared to a "normal" 6 inch flashlight. It's brighter and whiter than the silverstar sealed beam headlamp on my truck. I took photos to show the narrow beam of the flashlight on the wall. Daytime in the shade one shot from 8 feet, one from 2 feet. You can see the narrow center part does not alter much with distance, and the closer photo shows the less bright illumination surrounding. Good for peering into narrow spaces as opposed to illuminating a broad area. I think I am going to have a nice long relationship with this light, mostly shallow freedives investigating caves, nooks and crannies Came with a nice little dry bag, instructions, 18650 battery and charger. extra o-rings and a (leaking) little tub of silicone grease. Big Blue you could improve that. A little color ring around the switch on the flashlight tells you the state of charge roughly. Nice. though it does give me pause wondering what possibilities for leaks exist on that switch...The instructions do not mention servicing or greasing the switch... 4 brightnesses and a SOS mode.

Great light, battery is good for one dive. Excessive packaging.

The switch would illuminate blue for a few pushes and then go out but the light stayed on the high setting. The only way to turn it off was to unscrew the body so the battery stopped making contact. I emailed Bigblue to ask what the difference was between the original and the "II" and Christine replied that the "II is slightly smaller" and "also comes with a dry bag." It looks like they also cut some costs by using inferior quality parts.

Questions about this item:

Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
Jim K  This is my second light i liked my first one so much its small bright and compact
BRAD L  Already had one for myself. After trying other lights, my wife wanted the same.
Mark A  can you use regular batteries like AA size in this light or do you have to use the rechargeable one only?
Mario C  No regular batteries just 18650's
Mark A  what is the power source for this light? rechargeable or can it use batteries and what size?
MIKE W  Rechargeable...Vape pens use the same rechargeable battery and they are quite affordable.
Stephen M  The light came with a rechargable battery. It is an unusual looking battery. About the size of a AA, but thicker and longer. I do not think the light will accept a regular battery.
ROBERT W  Rechargeable custom lithium battery. Cannot use standard batteries.
Tom H  I have two as secondary lights. I keep them in my dive short pocket. For the money they are very bright. I have a 12000 watt canister light as my primary. They are brighter than that light. They are rechargeable over night. They come with it's own charger. I had one flood due to a hair on the o ring. So always check that. I also put a dab of silicone grease on the o ring every time I take it apart. Overall it's I good sturdy light. As a cave diver I depend on these lights. You can buy new batteries.
Christian L  it is a rechargeable, replaceable, 18650 battery (3.7V). You cannot replace for a regular alkaline which is only 1.5V and of another size.
JAMES C  Lithium rechargeable battery are the power source. The light comes with a charger. The battery has to be removed from the flash light to be charged. The housing has a double o-ring seal so every time you open the case you need to clean the the barrel and o-rings with a lint free cloth and re-lube the o-rings with fresh silicone grease when reassembling.
Kevin C  Comes with rechargeable batteries. Not your off the shelf Duracell brand. I used this light on my last dozen dives in West Caicos. Awesome light.
KOO C  The light came with its own battery that can be charged on a computerEnter
MICHAEL M  The light comes with a rechargeable battery of a unique size. The battery has to be removed from the light to charge it. Common AAA, AA, etc. size batteries will not fit this light.
Paul D  It’s rechargeable. It comes with one rechargeable battery mine has lasted for two years now.
