this octo holder works like a charm my Aqualung ABS Octo never falls out plus it keeps sand etc out i have used for over dives and over 45 dives below 120'

Bright in color for easy identification in an emergency, the Skum-Ball Octopus Holder with Clip. Hardened stainless steel split ring and clip attachment will retain your alternate air source where you attach it to your equipment until you need it. Won't allow octopus to drag along the bottom collecting sand or destroying the reef, Octopus holder also helps prevent free-flow from accruing when entering the water or when encountering a current. Octopus holder can protect your regulator mouthpiece when you stow your equipment after diving. The Scum-Ball Octopus Holder is made from durable plastic and includes a non-corrosive plastic gate clip for attachment to gear. Can double as an out of water mouthpiece protector for regulator storage.

Not fantastic

If you poke a couple of holes in the side opposite the reg opening it will save you LOTS of grief at depth trying to pull it out. Also have had problems causing air dumping (free flow) at depth. Have heard of ppl losing mouth piece from these holding their octo too well. Buyer be warned!

Just what I was looking for to hold the spare regulator

from Hopewell, VA, US

I/m in the dive master class and what I use to use was not setting a good example for the students.

Works well

By Labez

Bought it in yellow for easy identification. I have always used it with Sherwood octopus in warm water and have no problem taking it out or putting it back in. I have used it in rescue training with no problem at all.

does the job

By iluv_swimming

Good price of equipment to have. Get the octopus out of the way and you know where it is when you do need it, you don't have to reaching for it.

Cool piece of equipment

secondary is quick to release and offers good protection for secondary. SMALL

The Name Says It All....

By Aqua N.

This little extra holds the octopus very well. It kept all the “skum” out of the octo mouthpiece. It a big improvement over those cheaply made octo holders that you cant put the mouthpiece in or those that fall out during the dive.

Kept The Sand Out!

By Lavender L.

It worked well. It kept the octopus where I needed it and kept the sand out of the mouthpiece. It was easy to use, just pull on the octopus and push to insert.

Extremely handy

I had an issue with my delicate and expensive primary regulator swinging around while i made my way around the deck on my boat dives. It was nice to just tuck it away for a moment while i get my dive camera and lights ready to go. I'm a little picky when it comes to being organized and having a place for everything. It is slightly hard to put the regulator into the holder but at least i know it is secure. (i'm not sure if it's because of the size of my mouthpiece i have a scuba pro a700)

Easier to use than the rubber band type

By Curtis

Octopus rig stays put on my vest.

better product

By little m.

this unit works better than the other octo holder that leisure sells..

Easy On, Easy Off

This is the best mouthpiece cover I have used.

Works fine

By Jolly R.

This thing works. The Reg is easy to put in and it comes out with a slight pull. The resistance in my opinion is not enough to pull the mouth piece off (unless its not on properly) like another review states. It does tend to cause the octo to freeflow if you dont let it fill with water before you insert the oct, it will eventually stop but easy just to let some water in. A couple small holes may stop this also. Main point my reg NEVER comes out unless I pull it.

Could have bigger opening

By Alex

It serves its function to protect the octo well, but the opening is too small to feel comfortable in emergency. One of my octo regs (Scubapro) slides out Ok, but the other (Aqualung) is too tight and unless carefully removed may pull off the mouth-piece. Emergency and careful removal do not come together very well. Also there is a tendency to free-flow as others have noted. This can be a great product if the opening is made bigger and free-flow issue is solved (a few small holes perhaps).

Octo Freeflows...

By Scubadoo

This was the only Octo keeper that would fit my new octo but it annoyingly causes freeflows. I had to fiddle with it at the beginning of each of my 25 dives I made last week. I think I'll be punching some venting holes in it.

Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
Gary M  see how it works
Kurt W  recommended during on line chat; to help hold safe second in place
JENNY H  Works great, doesn't let go of my octo
NEAL R G  Nice small and easy to use.
JAMES H  I thought it would protect my secondary regulator but it came loose when I did a giant stride while entering the water. Also, during a dive, allowed my octapus to came loose. This was a waste of money
LARRY L  Wanted a yellow holder to attach to my BC to hold the 2nd stage from my pony in a place where it was easily accessable but would keep the 2nd stage out of the way when not in use. It worked OK but the octo freeflowed whem I got in the water until I drilled some holes in it. Unfortuantely it's not very durable. It tears at the attachment to the split ring.
bob D  didn't want to tuck regulator into bcd and this looked like it would help and it did
JOHN O  I thought this would be good for my octo but is was not for me.
STEPHEN S  Works great for keeping my octopus secure.
RICHARD A  Great and simple design/function.
WILLIS R C  This is the easiest to use. I like to keep the mouthpieces on all my regulators covered until ready for use.
EMERICH H  i was trying to see which item was better to hold the octupus
Fred B  How does this thing work. From the reviews it seems that the reg fits inside it. Is that correct?
Gordon B  The mouthpiece fits inside with the Skum-Ball clipped to your BC, with a quick tug it comes free. Try it a few times your reg's mouthpiece can fit and pulling it free won't detach the mouthpiece from the regulator.
W K  The mouthpiece of the reg fits inside it. Since the mouthpiece is also plastic, it comes out easily -- but only if you need it. It is a great way to keep the extra reg tethered to your BC. Trying to coil the extra line and fit it through a loop is too much work. It also helps keep the mouthpiece out of any muck.
ROBERT M  Only the mouthpiece fits in. Squeeze the sides of the mouthpiece together and push into the opening of the scumball. A tug on the reg. or hose will release it from the holder. Works well, no complaints so far.
BILLY N  The mouth piece stuffs inside it. Some are a little tight, but works OK,
