Excellent for Scuba

 -  Bryan/College Station, TX, US

I read a review of this product on Leisure Pro website, and that person said get the bigger $30 for your console. Correct, this pulls back your entire console with no problem. I bought another one for my wife.

With the Gear Keeper Scuba Console Snap Clip Locking Retractor, you can keep your accessories safe and secure. The retractor extends up to 32" (81.3cm) with 24 oz. (680.4 g) retraction force and locking mechanism allowing you to relax your grip when extended for long periods. Strong enough to hold any console while providing full arms extension for navigation. This auto-recoil device allows for quick and easy access to equipment secured to BCD or weight belt. The Gear Keeper's line is nylon with a Kevlar core and has an 80 lbs. (36.3 kg) breaking strength. Gear and accessory attachment are facilitated with the swivel snap gate clip on one end and a squeeze-style side-release buckle and split ring on the opposite end. Corrosion resistant stainless-steel spring and hardware. Gear Keepers are proudly made in the USA.

Broke on first dive

I bought this as a back up to my older Cetacea keeper. Two weeks ago my old one broke. Pulled out this new one and it ;lasted one dive before it decided to no longer retract. Piece of junk and I would not buy another one. I should be getting a refund from Leisure Pro since I purchased it in May of this year (2019). You expect these kinds of things to last longer than a dive. They are built crappier every time they are updated. If I were Leisure Pro I would not sell them. I am so sick and t...

Works better than expected. Using it to hold up a Oceanic console dive computer.

Sweet gear clip

from Chattanooga, TN, US

Super high quality and better than the other with the magnet (which rusts). Very handy

Gear Keeper

worked well for tethering console so it was handy and didn't drag in coral.

the first time

By John

I purchase this retractable unit for my fiance'. Retractable unit was used to hold her Genesis react pro Computer console. It attached easily to her BCD ring and worked perfectly for her during our dive trip to the Bahamas.

Awesome Gadget

By Daniel C.

This recractor is heavy duty and easily keeps your console exactly where you want it. A little bulkier than I thought it might be, but no real complaints. The snap clip is a really good feature as you can leave the recractor attached to your BCD and the small clip stays attached to your console. When ready to dive a quick click and you're set to go. Only 8 dives with it so far so not sure about the durability, but I see no reason why it shouldn't last for quite a long time.

Great Retractor

By Jeff

An excellent retractors for any dive air/depth/compass dive console.

Very powerful

By Passion4Diving

Like the attachment options and the lock to hold the extension length. Really heavy duty retraction strength. Impressed with the unit.

Works like a charm,

By Steve

I use it to keep my gauges close to my chest and it really improves the diving experiance.

A must have!

By Woody

I've been diving for years without this and I don't know how! This is a must have! Not only does it make you look professionally high and tight, it's actually a relief not to drag things around you. You just pull and let go.

Wouldn't be without it!

By mainer04270

This is the best accessory, ever, for diving! I use it to clip my console close to my chest and always know where it is. It is retractable, so you can pull your console away from your chest, to check all your gauges. No more things dragging along, ruining the reef. You could use it for anything that you want to keep close to your BCD. I have used one for so long, don't know how I could dive without one, now. I would suggest everyone to try it. You'd never use any other gear keeper!

Thoughtfully designed piece

By Pirana J.

Divers need to keep their accessories close at hand and not floating or dragging around. This device proivides that service. I used to tuck my console into my BCD to keep it under control. This retractor does a better job at keeping my console under control and close at hand. I like the detachable clip/ring; very convenient. Small money for such a handy device.

Great for Keeping Console Close

By Miracleman

Keeps your console from waving around and you always know where it will be. Great device. Only issue I had was that for looking at the guages for a period of time as at a safety stop, I had to detach it because it retracts very tightly. If there was a catch mechanism so that if you pulled it, it would stay extended and then pull again to retract, it would be perfect!

Great Product!

By Nugget

Very strong and can keep any comp close to you.

Great Retractor

By Eddie

Ordered by phone to make sure product would be delivered when I needed it. Sales associate was very helpful. Delivery was right on time. Product was just as described. When my local dive shop does not have what I need I will definitely order from Leisure Pro!!!

Questions & Answers

Questions about this item:

Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
MIKE W  to replace the same one I have had for a few years that broke.
James S  This keeper seemed to be the best choice for my consule and for my reef stick...2 total bought.
JAMES H  I use this for my SPG console ... the tension is just right ... not I know on every dive EXACTLY where my SPG is 100% on the time. A bit bulky but very sturdy & well made.
JOE L  looks durable. Want it to last longer than my previous one
TONY B  Very good item would recommend a friend, actually did and friend loves it too.
JAMES G H  Past good experience with this manufacturer's quality.
ADAM B  Hold my new mares puck air setup. Works perfectly.
Robert B  Does this stay extended until you "unlock" it, or is there constant tension on the line? I would like to use it for a GoPro, but don't want to "fight" it all the time.
RONALD V  constant tension. good for a computer/console, not so much for a camera. they have good safety lanyards for less, check one of those out!
DBMAX, I  Stay extended until unlocked.
BRIAN P  There is constant tension on the line. Not a lot, but it's there. I use mine for my computer and dive lights.
ANN H  There is constant tension on the line.
Shopper  what model is right for a Gopro camera?
Michael P  Don't use a retractor for that. Use the quick release coil lanyard so you dont have to constantly fight the retractor. The lanyard will keep hold of it if it falls off and you dont have to fight the retractor every time you move or turn your head. Leisure Pro has one cheap.
Michael C  If you want to connect your GoPro to a retractor, you can use any retractor. There is no one that is right for it, they will all work.
