great reef hook for strong currents.

It is a reef hook used to hold you in position in a current.

Drift diving is one of the most relaxing and enjoyable dives you can ever make. There you are at neutral buoyancy floating along your breathing rate is like you are sitting on the couch watching the reef go by on TV. Your breathing so slow you can make a tank of air last forever, yet if you decide to stop and look at something more closely, forget it. Now you're fighting the current to stay stationary and using air at an extraordinary rate.

Having a drift reef hook can save the day. Place it into or under a "non-living rock "on the bottom [not live coral) and you can now easily stay in one spot without a struggle. Also, can be used when on the surface to keep stationary when making safety stops or waiting for the boat to pick you up. Hook is made of rust resistant stainless-steel for strength and durability. Trident Stainless-Steel Reef Hook measures (L x W) 8.75" x 2" (22.2cm x 5.1cm), has eyelet on one end for attachment of a line and the opposite end is hooked to anchor.

Works great

By BQ

Used on dive trip for drift diving to anchor into the current

I like it

Very utilitarian, it works to keep me off the reef, as well as in current. Not too big, so it fits in a pocket. I attached it to a bungee on my wrist with a single ended clip

Questions & Answers

Questions about this item:

Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
ROBERT R  Price and availability.
MSK M  We may need it for big current in a drift dive like in Cozumel.
AL K  I'm planning on diving "Blue Corner" in Palau later this year. It's place where there's a ripping current. A reef hook is a necessary accessory for photography.
Shopper  How much does the reef hook weigh?
Carol s  Not Much! I weight it for the flag! Good for reef booking current!
Rick J  Best answer is a couple or six ounces - they're about a foot of 1/4 stock stainless and don't weigh much at all but are well strong enough to hook up with.
Roger S  Not much.. 3 or 4 ounces, give or take.
SUNG L  Light
JAMES H  Not much, a few ounces. Never weighed it, lives in my BC pocket.
