Easy to Install

By btw2459

Received this yesterday and installed it into the Dive Rite mask I got at the same time. Easy to install and I liked the template that comes with the lenses to help the installation. One thing you need to remember is that once you've glued the lens to your mask the mask must remain horizontal or the lense has the potential to slip out of position - mine did (had to re-apply the glue and lens. I've had other magnifying lenses before and a top tip is to make sure your hands are grease free...

Looks okay

By Bike M.

Haven't tried this product yet, but it looks good. I have heard that they don't stay on the mask once they get wet. I will try an alternate glue that isn't water based.

Aqua Optics stick-in magnifier lenses allow divers and snorkelers a quick & economical solution to adding magnification in dive masks. Reading your fish ID card, watch or camera settings is now possible without the expense of a full prescription mask. These optical-quality glass stick-on lenses are removable and reusable if you change masks yet won't accidentally wash out if your mask is flooded with water. Each package includes two semi-circular lenses, installation glue, and complete instructions. Installation takes minutes, and the glue sets completely in 6 hours. Five powers +1.00 to +3.00, with increments +0.5 available to fit a wide range of needs. Scuba mask is not included. Install these lenses in any scuba or snorkel mask with flat lenses.

Better adhesive is needed

I have installed these lenses more than 7 or 8 times. I install them exactly as written in the instructions, but never-the-less, after every day of diving the lenses start moving around or fall off. I then have to clean the mask and lenses well, and glue the lenses back in place all over again. Then the next time I dive it happens all over again. The lens work fine as long as they stay on, but that's not for long.

Great product but keep you mask dry between dives.

By PHILIP S.

from New York, NY, US

These are amazing. Just make sure you keep the inside dry as much as you can. Don’t let it soak in water. While diving the water alone magnify what you see this helps for me as I use reading glasses. Helps me see the small details on dive computers.

Great!

Best set of cheaters yet. Applied to mask easily and hasn't moved from placement after 8 dives.

BI-FOCAL INSERTS

By Walt

After cataract removal I needed something to make it possible to read my computer as I had lost good close-up vision. These inserts were just the ticket - easy to install and work perfectly (tested in a pool).

These work

By B E.

from HOUSTON, TX, US

These will allow you to read your dive computer. The glue doesn't last more than a couple of days of diving, but the lenses adhere to the mask without it. You can always reapply the glue if you are afraid you'll fill your mask with water and wash them out.

Good for older divers

By Jimmy B.

The only problem is the exclusion of air bubbles at installation. But even with air bubbles, it provides good vision of camera controls. Divers over 45 are likely to need this. I find that putting the mask on and putting a dot at the position of the eye pupils with a washable marker is helpful. I then placed the lenses a couple of millimetres below the pupil.

Best I've tried

By Kharon

Great service as always.

Don't choose reading strenght

By Velmaid

Made the mistake of buying reading glass strength. but you actually never get that close to things. Bought another set in between my near and far sited strength and it works much better.

Gauge blind !

Glue doesn't hold very well but works. If you can get the glue to hold they do the job.

OK for What You Pay For--Not A Replacement for Custom Mask

By Old D.

These are easy to put in, and did work fine for me, though one fell out during a week's use and had to be re-glued (unsuccessfully; see below). A few hints that made them work better for me: Let the glue dry for at least 48 hours before using your mask; don't leave your mask in a bucket of water between dives; when you get out of the water make sure you tip any water out of the lenses; don't leave a damp mask in the sun. I recommend these in a pinch for your once-a-year dive vacation, but if you're a serious diver a custom mask is best.

Not very clear

By Al D.

I was expecting much better results in my visual acuity but the product failed to fulfill my expectations. I don't think it was the fault of the product itself but of the whole process of vision and distortion under water. The only possible improvement I can think would help is if the lense was larger. the negative comments made by other reviewers about the lenses falling out did not happen to me.

Economical, but not great.

By Joe

Gluing them in was easy enough, and they did stay stuck for two days of diving. On the third day they started sliding around inside the mask. They were also a bit cloudy, rinsing by flooding the mask seemed to help. Overall, I would recommend getting a real prescription mask.

Some Improvement is needed

By ZooMan55

These lenses DO improve my ability to see my gauges, but the attachment needs improvement. The glue continues to dry somewhat cloudy, reducing clarity through the lens. The lens itself is high quality and glass, so has great potential. I have removed and re-affixed them a couple of times, but the glue dries cloudy each time. This is bothersome. Certainly does not replace a custom ground vision correction mask, but it does improve your vision for a low cost.

Hard to work with

Questions about this item:

Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
Scott D  because I can't see underwater without them.
TOM C  My wife had lasik so she now can use a basic mask with out corrective lens. But she needs a little boost to clear up her view of her gauges. I use them and found the Magnifiers to be very helpful.
James H  I tried MagnaOptix products, which were curved and, as a result, never adhered to the inside of the mask lens. I lost them too many times because they simply were always trying to pull away from the flat glass surface, not always because of water contact, - and they're not priced to be single-use items! I'm hopeful the Aqua Optics product, relying on a glue of some kind instaed of simple adsorption, will be flat and adhere more securely.
CARL D  getting old and blind cant see my dive comp, have used these for a few years and they work perfectly on any mask.
LARRY L  I bought these for a clearer, bigger view of my computer. Unfortunately they didn't work well at all. Going to get a perscription mask and end the problem once and for all.
ALBERTO G  Because I use bifocal lens, and I hope they can help me to see better underwater
Lawrence P  My mask has corrective lenses, diopter -5.0. Will these work for seeing my gauges and computer more clearly?
JOEL S  Absolutely not. The lenses will only stick to a mask that has no prescription. I tried putting them on a mask with a prescription similar to yours and it did not work.
LARRY L  Not sure I understand. If you have corrective lenses already in the mask why are you adding magnifiers? Also, negative diopters are for nearsightedness if I'm right. I guess if you are nearsighted they might work. I'm farsighted and only have experience with positive diopters. I don't think they would work over a curved surface of corrective lenses already in the mask. I didn't have success with this style magnifier and ended up getting very large prescription lenses in my mask.
ROBERT D  Yes
Ezio B  is it made of silicon and can be moved from one mask to another?
DIANE T  My husband doesn’t remove his, and I would advise buying a few pairs so you don’t have to move them. He swears by them. He says also to be careful not to rub them when you rinse the mask. Hope this helps. D
PHYLLIS C  Not sure what they are made of it's been so long ago I bought them. They can be moved because you will not get the field of vision you want the first time. Some experimenting is needed to adjust.
JAMES G  Believe it is silicone, not positive, easily moved to another mask.
