Great for Bonaire

By JHand

I used the Akona booties for a week of shore diving in Bonaire, and they worked great for me. The soles are hard enough to walk across the jagged rocks and loose staghorn coral on the shores. I found them much easier to put on and take off than my high cut zippered booties. I highly recommend these booties tor warm water diving where a hard sole required.

Nice booties.

By KEVIN C.

Very comfortable above and below the water.

Akona's Low Cut Molded Sole Boots are made from 3.5mm nylon 2 neoprene rubber with glue and blind stitched seams for a superior water seal. Boots have Airprene side panels which allow for water to drain while providing protection and warmth. Boots have been redesigned to provide a better fitting, warmer dive boot.

The extremely thick and durable Sole with arch can be worn for long periods of time with comfort. Great for water shoe activities that require lots of time spent on your feet. Large heel pull tab for easy donning and doffing. Low Cut Molded Sole Boots are available in multiple sizes and are black in color.

Good soles should have got hi tops

I should have got hi tops to walk over the rocky/coral shore. poor ankle support but very good soles.

Perfect for Bonaire

By LARRY L.

from Schenectady, NY, US

I've been using thes for all my diving since I got them after my first trip to Bonaire. Sturdy thick soles and uppers that are just right to make them easy on, easy off. I use them diving cold water at home as well as on my tropical trips.

Fantastic dive boots

By William R.

from Oak Harbor, OH, US

Bought these for a Bonaire trip. Did 36 dives in one week and these boots performed amazingly. The hard sole was fantastic for all the shore diving. They made it easy on the feet on the rocky entries. I bought a size smaller than I wear in tennis shoes and it worked out perfectly. These are awesome!

These work good for Bonaire shore diving

By JOHN B.

from Pittsburg, KS, US

Easy to get on and off and a good solid sole for rough coral shore line entries such as Bonaire. Sole is hard enough to wear good on sharp surfaces. Bonding appears to be good, which can be a problem with some booties. We have used Seasoft Sunrays for years and have always loved them. These are shorter top and without the zipper so I was unsure if I would like them. Figured they might not be easy to get on and the older I get the further away my feet seem to be. But these go on easy and I have never had a problem with them coming off. And they are easier on the pocketbook than the Sunrays when it comes time for replacement.

Perfect

By Kharon

I used the chat feature of the website because the first brand I ordered was too small and flimsy. Using the chat and asking question after question we determined the best choice for my needs. I was very happy with the help and will certainly use this feature again.

Totally great for Bonaire

By Kharon

Absolutely perfect for my next trip to Bonaire. Totally rugged sole and a thin top. Perfect!!!

Akona Low Cut boots

By JOE G.

from Creve Coeur, MO, US

Just returned from dive trip using the Akona boots for the 1st time. Overall they were what we had hoped for. My only negative thought was that I have a wide foot and these seem more apt to fit a narrower foot best. I didn't do any shore diving so there wasn't any significant walking about with just the boots so I really didn't negatively impact my experience.

Akona Low Cut Sole 3.5mm Boots.

By Diver D.

Bought the boot to use with my shortie and they work very well. Initially I was concerned about the size. I wear a 10.5 but ordered the 11 boot. Although it was slightly loose after 20 plus dives I haven't had any problems. This is an excellent boot and is constructed well. Lastly excellent boot for the price.

Narrow fit

By Max W.

Good quality boots but they’re a narrow fit which made them uncomfortable for me.

Questions & Answers

Questions about this item:

Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
LARRY L  I almost exclusively dive solo from shore. I especially like diving Bonaire and travel there annually. These boots are the only ones I have found that hold up to the stone and broken coral Ironshore on Bonaire and the Devils Teeth lava on Grand Cayman. They have seriously rugged soles but the uppers are tropic style so they can be worn both diving and around town. Easy to put on and take off. I use them in cold water with a neoprene sock. All around the best bang for your buck.
LARRY L  Wanted thinner, hardsole boots than the clunky ones I had.
Andrew F  Are the sizes for men or women? I am looking for a womens 6 or 6.5
VALERIE N  I called before I ordered and they said they are men's sizes. I am a woman and have a size 8 1/2 foot. I ordered a size 6. They were a little short and they were very narrow. I returned them and haven't purchased a replacement so I don't have any other suggestions. Good luck!
Jeffrey J  I would not buy these boots again. They are very heavy and bulky. Getting your fins off is an issue. My wife felt the same way. Pick another boot.
Chris L  I purchased as a Men's 10. Normally I wear 10.5 to 11, so I got a half size smaller which made for a snugger fit. They are excellent, in the fin and cruising around on the jettie where it's rocky. Hard sole makes it universal.
BRENDA L  Hey Andrew, we purchassed these for our son, so they work for men. You may want to try a size smaller for women
ROBERT W  The sizes are Men's sizes. They have a solid sole and with the perforations, they drain easily.
Shopper  How did this boot fit? Loose or tight? It seems like the back might chafe against the ankle? Did you find that? Have you had difficulty removing from fins due to big sole? Would this protect if stepped on urchin or stonefish? Thanks!
Greg S  I wear a size 9 and have to return my size 9 to get a 10, as the length is too small for me.
CHRISTOPHER E  The boot fit very close to my actual shoe size. I dive with open heal fins and chafing was not an issue for me. They we purchases for a recent trip to Bonaire to make the shore entries easy on the feet compared to soft sole booties. For the price they were a good value to me.
JAMES J  The boot fits a little loose. I had to return mine for a boot 1 size smaller. They are very comfortable with no rubbing on the back of the ankle. They were a little difficult removing from the fins but it is worth a little extra effort for the protection of soles of your feet. They have a very thick sole which gives you great protection from stepping on things.
RALPH A  My feet are size 10...should have got 11 Foot slips out of boot when trying to remove boot from fins I have scuba pro fins, these boots do not work well with them. Chafes badly on top of feet. They are good for protecting your feet from urchins and such. Would suggest a softer rubber fin with these boots. Have oceanic's as well....they work perfect with my scubapro's.
