Wetsuit

This is the 2nd wetsuit that I purchased. Good product

Akona understands the importance of reducing dependence on oil-derived chemicals. Akona's earth-friendly neoprene uses limestone that is over 99.7% calcium and does not rely on oil as extensively as petroleum-based neoprene. Akona wetsuits features a full length molded Delrin zipper and a #10 YKK marine-grade brass slider. This superior combination of zipper and slider is the ultimate in corrosion resistance and strength.

The glued-and-stitched zipper dam is "skin-out" for added seal and reduced water flushing. The closely guarded, unique lamination process of bonding the nylon to the rubber and Akona's new, strategically designed pattern matched with lightweight, limestone based neoprene is the science behind Akona wetsuits. All seams are flat-lock sewn for strength and durability. Suit has reinforced, laminated knee pads.Akona's wetsuits are the most comfortable and best fitting wet suits in their class. Akona's 1 mm Jumpsuit is available in multiple sizes and is black in color.

Questions & Answers

Questions about this item:

John A  Will this product keep me dry or is it too thin?
KATHLEEN C  It is not a dry suit. It does not keep me dry.
ADAM P  It's a wet suit, not a dry suit.
STEVEN L  This is a wet suit. If you are looking to stay dry you need a dry suit.
John A  Good to know. Thanks!
John A  Thank you!
CHARLES R  The only suit to keep you dry is a dry suit. A 1 mm skin suit is meant to provide just enough warmth to keep the chill off on a long dive in temperate waters.
John A  Thank you for your info!
MICHAEL N  I have used it for diving in the Caribbean and it kept me dry but I cannot warranty the it will irk that way for you. I suspect much will depend on the fit or the lack thereof. It is a good quality product for warm water diving.
John A  Thank you for the reply! I guess I'll look for a dry suit. Plan to use it while surf fishing. Waders are good to use in the bay, but water gets into them on the surf on choppy days when fishing in waist high water.
MARK C  No, It will not keep you dry. It is for warmer waters, but will keep you warmer then without a suit but not much. I bought it more for use like a rash guard.
John A  Thank you! Noted.
MICHAEL S  No wetsuit will keep you dry. A dry suite will do that
John A  Got it. Thank you!
sean c  I am 5'11" have a 42 inch waist and weight 240lbs what size wetsuit should I get. I like my suit a little tight as it will stretch?
CHARLES R  Try a 2xl. It will be a little tight.
DALE E  Looking at the size chart, you would probably need a 3XL, might be a little long. It looks like it would fit every where else. I'm 5'2", 120# wear size 8S.
DALE E  I am 5'-6", weigh140, and have a 28" inseam. My Akona suit is a medium. Although long in the legs for me it fits slightly loose about my torso. I like to add a little water as I dive. Also great under a 3 or 5 mil.
Shopper  I am 220 lbs 6' 2" what size you recommend ?
DALE E  Amina size chart says you would need 3X large
PATRICK K  i would recommend the 3xl because the arms will be a little short wuth the 2x. The neosport definitely has longer length for the extremities
ADAM P  2XL should fit you nearly perfectly. I'm 5'10" 225 and wish I could've purchased 2XL short.
STEPHEN H  I'm 511 200 and fit into the xl without any struggle. It's a great suit.
ORVILLE M  3XL should be good for you.
ORVILLE M  I have a 4XL I wanted it for critter protection and when I get my arms out it so easy to get off, I am 6' 2 and weigh 245 lbs. Very comfortable.
Tony N  I have a few questions. First question: My 3mm Pinnacle has zippers on the legs, how easy is it to get the Akona 1mm on/off the ankles/legs? Do you have to fight with it? Second question: Size? I'm 6'2" and a sturdy 290lbs with a 40in waist. Depending on what characteristic I choose on the size chart, I could wear a 3XL, 4XL, or a 5XL. :-) What characteristic is most reliable? Thank you.
STEVEN L  I have used the Akona 1mm for the last 7 years. I am on my 2nd one. The first had 300 to 500 dives on it so I used it hard. You will have no problem with the ankle and legs. The suit is very forgiving. I am 6'9" with a 52 inch chest and I wear the 5XL. Again the suit is very forgiving. Though there is a large difference between us I think the 4xl should be correct for you. I do stretch my suit to the limits. The suit is a great value.
JOHN B  i'm your size and a 3xl works good. 1 mil stretches enough it gives where it needs to. No problem getting legs in.
Robert D  I now only buy Akona because of how easy they are to get on and off. I have the 1mm and the 3mm superstrech. Both are the easiest wetsuits I've ever gotten into or out of. I am an underwater camera operator and have owned BARE, SCUBAPRO, and Akona suits. Note: Their size chart is very inaccurate. Go one size up from what they suggest. I am 5'10' and a fit build. I'm not sure what to suggest, but I know the 1mm stretched enough that you'll probably be okay either way. I bought the XL.
KATHLEEN C  I can't you question about the size, but I can tell you that the suit is very stretchy and comfortable. No issues with the Ankles or wrists when getting them on or off. I originally ordered the suit size that my measurements equalled and I had to order a smaller version after I got it. I used the chest size to determine what size.
Shopper  I love to snorkel but need a light 1mm wetsuit for protection in warm water. My body shape is difficult to fit. Female Height 5'7" - legs & hips small 42" - chest 52" Looking at Akona 4 XL - Caribbean trip coming up soon?
Janet W  I would think that the 4xl would be much too long for your height - my husband is 6'1" with long legs, and the 2xl fit his legs snugly right down to the ankle. A shortie suit might be a better choice for you, as the length won't be an issue.
JEAN D  I bought this suit for my husband. He wanted a light suit for protection when he dives for lobster in the Florida Keys. He is 5'10" with an athletic build and the suit is a little big but thats the way he wanted it. Hope this helps.
STEPHEN H  I'm 5'10'' 205 with 36'' waist my xl fits fine. Don't think there is a perfect suit out there but I like mine. It's light dries fast easy to put on I would recommend this suit. They should return it easily if you don't like it.
CHARLES R  A mans 4XL would seem to be way too big, even for a 52" chest. A skin suit is very flexible and you should look for a woman's suit for a larger chest, but I would tthink in a smaller size.
