Holy Cr#p!!!!

By Gotta D.

My husband and I had been shopping our local dive shop for luggage to tote our equipment around in. And the prices we found to be expensive. I found this on leisurepro and was not sure if it was going to be big enough to house all of our stuff. Then checking with our local dive shop again and the dimensions of the bags that they carried, the one I found on leisurepro was bigger than the one in store! So we bought two right away. And these things were huge. We went diving for the first time wi...

I was very happy with my purchase. I do

By chnmuzc

Very easy to roll with plenty of space. I found that if it was big enough for all my wet suits, it would be too big. Therefore, it is perfect.

This is Akona's most versatile and popular bag. The standard by which all other bags are judged, because of its heavy-duty wheels and dual pull #10 Delrin zipper around the main compartment opening with heavy-duty bronze corrosion resistant sliders. Its features boast of an extension handle that locks into both 10" and 17" (25.4 and 43.2 cm) positions for easy maneuvering in all conditions, with zippered hide-away closure. The main compartment of the bag has reinforced panels on back and bottom, along with side, front and top padding for added protection. A mesh sleeve that can be used to hold the included water bottle, or sunscreen, lotion, bug spray, etc.

Embroidered Akona padded top and side handles reinforced with box-stitching for increased durability for comfort in carrying, side fin pockets with built-in drainage panels and silent shock-absorbing skate wheels that are impervious to salt, sand, dust, dirt and will not rust like metal roller bearings. When maneuvering through a busy terminal or down a boat dock becomes difficult just unzip the hidden padded shoulder straps and sling it on your back for those tight or rough rolling situation A regulator pocket with padded regulator bag; interior straps to keep load secure and prevent shifting; and a padded accessory pocket with key clip.

Bag measures 31" x 21" x 14" (78.7 x 53.3 x 35.6 cm) has 9,114 cubic inches (150 liters) of volume and weighs 15 lbs. (6.8 kg). Regulator Bag measures 12" X 12" X 3" (27.9 x 27.9 x 7.6 cm) and a volume of 432 cubic inches (7 liters). Bag is constructed with 600D poly-natural fiber blend with polyurethane interior coating. This material is incredibly durable, water and stain resistant. Bag also includes a security sleeve that allows use of the telescoping handle and wheels and a luggage tag.

Got 2 years out of this bag

So I have this bag for two years and it is done. The two fin pockets are ripped across the top. There is a number of punch holes in this bag and the pulled on the zippers are missing. So in conclusion yes this bag looks like well build one and very durable but, unfortunately it is not. At $250 I would expect a few more years out of it.

Made for divers who travel.

By John H.

from Keller, TX, US

I’ve been traveling with the Akona AKB144 dive bag with wheels for over fourteen years. The bag has a few small tears and small puncture holes and I have replaced most of the zipper pulls. I guess that’s expected when you travel with a dive bag 3 to 4 times per year. The Akona dive bag outlasted three business suit cases. I dunk the dive bag in fresh water after diving and I thoroughly hose the bag down when I return home. It’s tasted a lot of salt water over the years. I carry a bunch of personal gear because I don’t like to rent and I prefer having back up gear on liveaboard trips. I’m also the guy that carry’s a few tools to make small repairs and support fellow divers. My favorite compartments are the two fin pockets. I use TUSA X-Pert Zoom split fins that are 29” long and they fit perfectly. I keep my logbook, safety sausage, flashlight and a few personal items in the top outside pocket and I keep accessories/tools in the flat regulator bag in the lower outside pocket. I carry my regulator(s), dive computer and camera on the plane in one of the older Akona specialty bags. I am honestly amazed that my dive bag made it fourteen years. The wheels are absolutely amazing and very rugged. I’ve rolled that bag through the nastiest conditions and they still work. The pull handle finally broke and that is why my Akona is now retired. As far as bag weight at the airport, it always weighs in at fifty pounds. Lift the bag using the top handle and the large bottom brace. If you cannot lift fifty pounds, ask your dive buddy to grab one end. Travel bags are unique to every person. If you plan to travel and you dive multiple times per year, get yourself a durable, reliable bag that is easy to roll. Fortunately, my Akona bag did very, very well. That is the reason I am buying a second Akona. Good luck with your decision. John/TX

Looked smalled then I tought, but I was able to fit all my gear into the bag with room to spare!!

Love this bag for travel.

By Ken K.

Love this bag. This is the second time I have purchased this bag. It is large enough to fit a full set of gear and still have a little room for extra travel stuff. Very Durable My bags are always overweight so the handles and wheels are nice for moving the bag around.

Great bag

Fits everything I need for diving anywhere in the world

Built for 2

By Horn D.

This bag has room to hold gear for 2 divers. I was getting hit by airlines for excess baggage fees due to the size of my Aqualung roller bag. I don't have that issue with the Akona bag.

Solid Bag!! Expert helped a ton!

By Hursty

Love, Love, LOVE this bag

By DiveHog

My husband and I are able to fit both of our complete gear set-up's in this one bag! I primarily use it for just my own gear, but am grateful to be able to travel with just one bag for all of our gear collectively. I could not be happier with this bag!! I have owned it for 7 years and I do about 315 dives a year and it is just starting to show some wear. I will DEFINITELY purchase again!!! Well worth the money!!!!

Great Bag

By kayakxtreme

I have had this bag for 5+ years and have made numerous international trips with this bag and it has no broken parts or zippers. Everything still works as if it was brand new. VERY durable bag. I highly recommend. The only issue I have with this bag is that it holds so much stuff it usually exceeds luggage weight limits at the airport.

Awesome Bag!

By SD

The best bag for scuba gear. Especially great for boat dives.

Like this backpack

By Fozz1

Traveling down to Belize from GP Ab I never had an issue with any of the big airlines even tho I was on a smaller plane Dash 8 no problem at checking in at all. It fits all my gear plus my clothing and I'm not a small boy at 6ft4in.

Great Large Bag!

By JMB

I am a recreational diver and travel to the Florida Keys often. This bag holds all of my gear as well as my son's gear. It rolls easy on its over sized wheels. The backpack feature is nice when I have a couple of tanks to carry also. I highly recommend this bag!

Great bag!

Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
John H  This is my second Akona AKB144 dive bag. My first Akona, of fourteen years is now retired. The Akona bag is large and heavy duty. It holds all of my equipment++. I use 29" TUSA X-Pert Zoom split fins and they fit perfectly. The wheels are absolutely amazing and rugged. If you make multiple dive trips per year, get yourself a heavy duty bag that is easy to roll. Fortunately my first Akona bag did very, very well, that's why I am buying another Akona. Good luck with your decision. JH/TX
JORDAN H  amazing bag holds everything
ROGER M  Large enough for all your gear and clothing.Heavy constuction. If flying, don't use front pockets and watch the wht. or it can be to big and heavy. I love this bag.
GEORGE D  perfect travel bag for dive gear
GARY M  Great bag, only problem I have had is the fastener on the back to support the wheel assembly. It works great for gear, mine has been almost around the world.
Shopper  What's the inside volume?
JOE W  Inside you will find enough room for all your gear from Frog Spit to BCD and everything in between. Those big old flippers go in their own side pockets. Great bag inside and out.
Shopper  Is this bag small enough to carry on?
JOE W  Regulator bag yes but big bag no
EBETTE A  No
JAMES M  This is definitely not a carry-on roller. I have my entire dive kit packed in here, with room to spare, and should be checked bagge.
MAX A  Absolutely not. This is a very large bag. See dimensions: Roller Bag: 31" X 21" X 14" (78.7 X 53.3 X 35.6 Cm), Regulator Bag: 12" X 12" X 3" (27.9 X 27.9 X 7.6 Cm)
