Nice bag

By Patrick M.

Light, padded regulator/computer area. I can fit all my gear.just barely.

Very versatile bag.

By Benjamin L.

Very versatile bag. The regulator pocket is a nice feature. When the mesh bag is collapsed into the pocket for portability, there is a lot of cushioning and protection for the regulator on that side.

Akona's Collapsing Mesh Duffel features a padded end compartment the same size and shape as Akona's AKB605 Regulator Bag (see SKU: AKNB605). The duffel easily holds a full set of gear while keeping your costly regulator and console well protected. Bag is made from durable 420-nylon with nylon reinforced mesh, measures 12" x 14" x 29" (30.5 x 35.6 x 74 cm) and has 4,872 cubic inches (80 liters) of volume. Bag features #5 YKK Delrin zippers with brass sliders and has complete wrap around nylon webbing carry handles with hook and loop closure.

Great thing about a mesh bag is that when you get to the wash tank on the dock after a day of diving you can submerge the entire bag in the tank and rinse you gear while still in the bag. The large mesh duffle zips into the end of the padded regulator bag creating a compact, easily stowed container. The collapsing feature also allows you to bring your travel gear bag when security is an issue and once you arrive at your diving destination you can transfer you gear to the mesh bag and use it instead of getting the travel bag wet.

Satisfied

Good price, fit all my gear, easy to stow away. Reg compartment is great, just wish there was one more little picket on the outside for smaller items. But overall like it a lot!

Just got it and I really like it

By Jared V.

from Fort Smith, AR, US

Got my bag yesterday, It fits my reg. really well and unfolds to become a great sized bad to haul my gear to the water. I haven't been able to use it yet but I will be bringing it to Cozumel in a month. I'm excited to use it there!

Great Purchase

By Elliot S.

from North East, PA, US

This bag worked great. The compartment for the regulator and octopus was a plus, and I had more than enough room for all m y other gear and equipment in the mesh area. It was easy to pack when collapsed. Another diver on our recent trip saw the bag and liked it so much that he purchased one.

Mesh Gear Bag

By Frank G.

from Murrieta, CA, US

The bag has worked well for us, actually have two. This is the updated version with the shoulder strap making it much easier too carry. Like the fact that the mesh compartment folds and zips into a smaller package. Makes it convenient for travel as a regulate bag inside a larger bag for use at your destination. Held up well so far.

Gets the job done.

By joseph v.

Gets the job done, but poorly made. The zippers only lasted a few short months before constantly catching and ultimately breaking off completely. No issues storing all gear to include fins and BC.

Shoddy materials

By John B.

from Summerville, SC, US

The first time I put all my dive gear in it and tried to carry it around with the should strap, the strap ripped out of the bag. Completely tore out. So now I have the bag with no shoulder strap. It still works and the handles work fine for carrying it around, but don't try to put 35lbs in it and use the shoulder strap. It really is a nice style bag. Has the nice regulator case in the front, and the whole thing is collapsible. When Im on the dive boat I can shove it under the seat or out of the way, and put everything back in when I'm done and dunk it. I'll give it 2 stars for this, but it loses 3 from some of the less than ideal material quality.

Q&A

Questions & Answers

Questions about this item:

Greg D  I have the 601 reg bag that is fitted to my globetrotter gear bag. The shape of this bag looks similar, is it compatible with the globetrotter bag? I do pack a separate mesh bag for the boat that I can dunk the whole thing after a dive. I like the idea of this except for the reg bag not being detachable for dunking full of gear.
Raymond M  Take out your reg when you dunk it and give it the extra care that you would like. It is nice having it separate from everything. This way you don't need to take it out (subjecting it to dirt and sand) until you are ready for it.
Brent S  The reg side of the bag does have padding and I would not recommend dunking the bag.
Miguel M  My only issue with the Akona is that it is a little tight when packing my Classic Scubapro BCD. I really like the separate reg bag and use it as well for personal non dive items. Cannot answer your question regarding compatibility. What I can tell you is that if you are diving consecutive days there is no need to dunk your gear or clean it. It is when you are storing it and then you need to really clean it.
ROBERT C  How much dive gear can you put in this bag?
Janet C  Everything you need on boat to dive including BC and wetsuit
Brent S  I put all my gear in my Akona bag. Fins, BCD, 3MM full suit, boots, and my regulator fit great in the padded zippered front. Even had room for my small pelican case.
ROBERT C  What, no room for a six pack and sandwich? Just joking, thanks for your reply. I appreciate it.
Randy T  We get it all in...fins,masks,BC,regulators, full suit. It's a pretty large bag,and well made.
Jason T  I have my BC (Zeagle Brigade), split fins, mask, boots in the main area. In the reg side, I have my standard reg + computer. It's not the roomiest of bags, but it has enough space for all the essentials on the boat. I have to work a bit to get the fins & BC in, but they do fit. I'm trying to remember if I can put my wetsuit in as well -- I think I can. I was able to take this bag from the boat (cruise) to the boat (dive) w/ all my gear I needed.
Leonardo B  I'm currently on my first trip using this bag. All my equipment fits easily in (fins, bcd, mask in it's box, regulator, 2 wetsuits and boots, with spare room for perhaps a knife, and some other accesories). The only problem I've found is that the long shoulder strap sewing doesn't look srdy enough. Maybe it is, but with the bag full I'm afraid of pulling it up by it. I use the short straps instead. The full bag (with wet equipment) gets pretty heavy.
Mike K  everything. It is very large. Regs BC-Fins snorkel Mask. 6 Pack Bud
Shopper  Where is your bag made? What country do the fabrics come from? Is the bag UV resistant and marine grade quality?
Frank L  This is an Akona bag. This bag is made in China. They do not provide any info on UV resistance or marine grade quality. This is a good quality bag, however.
