good quality kids mask

By

This is a good mask that fits well on my 10-yr old daughter. She has a tiny face and most masks that fit her are essentially pool toys. This is a dive mask and worth the few extra bucks.

Questions about this item:

Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
Daniel B  It is a great value
Mark W  Can this mask be used for scuba diving to 60 ft?
ROBERT S  Yes. any depth
CHARITY H  I had just posted a comment about our XS Fusion 2 mask. Sorry for my mistake, but we actually have the XS Fusion 2 Jr. mask. Which is the smaller sized one.
CHARITY H  Yes. I believe it can, although we did not use it to that depth. I had bought this for my 3 yr old daughter and it worked well for her to snorkel. I bought the XS Fusion 2 for my 9 year old daughter and also myself (lady with slender face). I used my Fusion 2 for 60+ feet diving. I recommend the Fusion 2 over the Goby because is seems to have a wider field of vision, unless the user's face is very tiny.
SARA S  I wouldn't know why not. It fit my 7 year old nicely. He snorkeled in it for several hours. He thought it was very comfortable.
Anne S  Would it fit a four year old boy? My 4 year old taught himself how to swim this summer (2013) all by himself, but he loves swimming underwater. We can't find one that fits him comfortably and we don't know what sizes to look for. We want to encourage his love for the water and would be ecstatic to find a swim mask for his age and size.
BARBARA H  We first bought XS Scuba Goby mask, from another company, on June of 2007. Our premie granddaughter was only 3-1/2 years old and had a very thin face. The XS Goby was the only one that we could find that fit her. She still uses that mask as a 9-1/2 year old. We purchased 2 more from you in 2011 so that her friends could snorkel with her. Remember to also purchase the snorkel tube that goes with it. If other little friends swim with him I would recommend getting more than one set. Different colors help keep them separate. It's very important to rinse these out with non-pool water after use. That prolongs their life. Happy snorkeling and don't forget to take movie pictures of him if possible! Barbara
CHARLES R  Yes was perfect for my 5 year old
STEVE S  Hi Anne, I do think it will fit, it fit my 6 year old well
Stephanie C  Hi, My boy was 8( and average size) when we purchased this mask and it fit him comfortably. My kids swim underwater too. The speedo Hydrospex jr. goggles may be a better alternative at this time-they will give him the ability to see underwater and protect his eyes but without the bulk of a mask. The mask is really good for snorkeling. Hope that helps. S
Anne S  Thanks for replying, I really appreciate it. My son does better with a scuba mask rather than goggles. He learned to swim underwater first and the scuba mask we had ended up breaking. He likes that he doesn't have to plug his nose when he's underwater with a scuba mask on and it leaves his hands free to swim and navigate. Thanks again for your reply. It's been very helpful!
BRENT P  Hi Anne. This was one of the best fitting masks for my 5-year old son. He is small for his age and is now 7 but pretty much the same size. It still fits great. We did have to look around and try a few masks to find one that would seal and fit a small (child) face. The best thing would be to have him try it out and see if it fits and is comfortable. It was for my son when he was 5 and about 40-45 pounds. It seems to adapt to a variety of faces. Just make sure it stays his mask, so it doesn't distort to fit an adult or older child's face, as then it may not fit as well over time. It certainly works well for a thin adult / adolescent face too, but the small volume seems perfect for younger children. My son has used it for fun in the pool as well as snorkeling at warm-water caribbean beaches. The perfect accompaniment is a small dry snorkel where the water doesn't get in when you go underwater. That made a huge difference in our son's comfortableness with using the mask not just for holding his breath and going under water but for snorkeling in the pool and on the beach, since he no longer had to worry about water splashing in and getting in his mouth or blowing out the water. It just instantly seals water out so it keeps the snorkel dry. You have to pay attention to the dry snorkel sizes for young children too as most seem to be developed for adult mouth and teeth sizes. We found a nice one (Oceanic Ultra Dry Mini Snorkel) that worked well for our son and his smaller mouth. It was much more comfortable for him than the regular dry snorkel. If your son isn't yet ready for snorkeling, but just wants the mask for fun and to see clearly under water (which definitely lead to increased swim skills and confidence in my son) while holding his breath, then you probably don't need to worry about adding a dry snorkel yet. We also added one of those neoprene thingee's to the back of the strap so it doesn't tangle or pull in his hair, but it's fine without it. Hope that helps!
Anne S  Thank you so much! Your reply helped so much! It's been so hard to fugure out what size to get him and now I know that this one will probably work out great. He uses the mask to swim in pools while we are traveling and he feels more confident with a scuba mask on when he's swimming. Again, thanks for your help.
