Comments about XS Scuba Mini Fog-Cutter Knife:

I think this tool makes an ideal second knife for diving. I wear a large knife on my leg and mount this on my BC. I've added a wrist lanyard to it also. One modification I've made is to dull under the scissor tip so I can slide it under a tight strap or line and not cut the surface the tool is sliding on (like paramedic sheers).

Comments about XS Scuba Mini Fog-Cutter Knife:

The knife portion of this XS Scuba Mini FogCutter is great. The knife is sharp and the scissors work well. Will easily cut through rope or line. Nice compact design.

The sheath for this knife on the other hand is junk... Sorry to say XS Scuba, but I think it needs to be Redesigned. XS SCUBA usually makes a great product, That's why I was sad to see this poorly designed sheath. I think it should've been designed more like there full size knife (XS Scuba FogCutter Recon Knife).

The blade on this knife is off to one side of the handle, it's not dead center. So when you reholster this knife, one way feels like it might fall out and if you flip the knife over and put it in that way, it's a lot harder to get out. Working with this knife underwater it is very hard (if not impossible) to get out with gloves on.

I ended up not using the factory sheath and make my own sheath out of Kydex.

          • Mount It On Your Bc

Comments about XS Scuba Mini Fog-Cutter Knife:

I've always admired my buddy's full sized Fogcutter, but I am not a big fan of mounting a large knife on my leg. So when I saw this little baby I jumped for it. Right out of the package, I was impressed. It's very well made and sturdy. It's a tool, and can be treated as such. Both the straight and serrated blades are very sharp, as is the scissor blade. There is also a well-positioned line cutter. It's compact, and as such, the grip may be a little small for big hands. My hands are average size and it's a perfect fit for me.

Mounting was a snap. The sheath offers a number of options for mounting and includes two small Velcro straps. I have mine Zip-Tied to my BC shoulder strap. The sheath is perhaps the only weak point. It's plastic, which is okay but the knife release buttons are right up against the knife handle and can be a little tricky to find with gloves on. The lock is a tension wedge that holds the knife in the sheath at the scissor nut. It works fine, and the knife feels secure, but for how long. I have some concern that with time and use the wedge may wear and the knife will fall out. You can purchase the sheath alone to allow easy use of the knife with different rigs.

The mini Fogcutter is a well made, versatile, tough little tool that can do the job of four single function tools. The only con is the sheath which I don't entirely trust. If not for that I'd give it five stars.

I'm really happy with it and think it was a great purchase.
