About Underwater Kinetics SL4 eLED L1 Dive Light

The high intensity LED and incredible battery life move the SL4 (L1) to the top of the chart for international dive travel. Compact size and narrow penetrating beam allow you to see way to the back of an overhand on the wall, daytime or night. As an added bonus the SL4 is equally at home at work or around the house as well as in bad weather.

The eLED circuitry provides relatively constant brightness throughout most of the life of the batteries. As the batteries are nearly depleted the brightness of the LED falls sharply, but does not go out as happens with classical filament lamps. This brightness will persist for several days, making this light valuable for emergency situations. The SL4 eLED is also great as a photo spotting light or to illuminate gauges and dive tables.

The SL4 LED operates more efficiently and produces more light when it is cool. Underwater, the SL4 eLED burns brighter for almost half of the battery life, due to the unique way that heat is conducted away from the LED. The higher brightness consumes a little more power and slightly reduces the battery life. The SL4's eLED Lamp produces 400 lumens of brightness with a beam reach (on land) of 622' (189.6 meters). To reduce glare and protect the light, the SL4 comes with a molded rubber bezel cover. The rotary switch is easily activated with the thumb and index finger for single hand operation. The Light is powered by 4 x C"-cell alkaline batteries (included) with a burn time of 10 hours. The light measures 6.2" x 1.5" x 1.7" (15.75 x 3.81 x 4.32 cm), weighs 15.02 oz (425.81 g) and is depth rated to 500' (152.4 meters). The SL4 includes an owner's manual, adjustable rubber covered wrist lanyard and is proudly made in the USA. Light is covered by a limited lifetime warranty.

The Underwater Kinetics SL4 eLED L1 Dive Light is commonly used for Cave Diving, Close-Up Viewing, Night Diving, Professional, Recreational, Safety Backup and more. The Underwater Kinetics SL4 eLED L1 Dive Light is most used by customers who consider themselves to be a Advanced, Casual/ Recreational, Professional among others. I used this light for multiple dives on a wreck and reefs in St Maarten for daytime dives to 65 ft. Operation was flawless, excellent light for nooks and crannies, under rock overhangs, looking into compartments of a wrecked cargo ship, etc. Weight was reasonable, I clipped it to my BCD. The range was good enough to shine over a dive buddy's shoulder and into an rock overhang to illuminate a honeycomb cowfish.
I can not comment on usefulness for night dives as I did not use for that purpose, but it is great light for improving visibility on day dives.

Bought this for the girlfriend to take on Advanced Class Night Dive. Strangely, I took the top off and reversed one battery to throw it in the dive bag...but the light still works with the battery reversed. Overall, this is a nice, simple light. Not quite as bright as my LED, but pretty close at 1/3 the cost. There is no lock on the on/off switch, so just take one batter completely out when traveling. Recommended for the low price point.

Bright light for night diving. Seemed slightly heavy but the weight of it was comforting at night; easy to grip ... all-in-all this light is a good product

Comments about Underwater Kinetics SL4 eLED L1 Dive Light:

This is a great dive light. It's said it's a backup but many ppl using it as primary. The long burn time made me feel safe compared to other lights with 18650 battery. Though it will be pretty heavy with 4C batteries. Went night dives with this and wreck dives without worry about battery. Just turn it on all the time.

Comments about Underwater Kinetics SL4 eLED L1 Dive Light:

I bought this as a primary light for an upcoming night dive thinking my Ikelite Gamma would not be adequate for a primary. As it turns out, I was wrong. The Ikelite is plenty bright for the purpose and much more compact, light and streamlined. I will keep this light, because it is very bright and will probably not carry it as a tactical spot light on regular dives. Will decide whether the Ikelite or the UK SL4 earns the primary spot on night dives. Remains to be seen. The light is very bright.

Comments about Underwater Kinetics SL4 eLED L1 Dive Light:

Our shop purchased ten of these lights for use on night dives. They are simple to use and provide a powerful beam for such a compact light. The switch is easy to operate and eliminates flooding since the switch is just on and off. Dive lights that operate by turning the lense to switch on are very susceptible to flooding by inexperienced users of dive lights. We use rechargeable batteries. A thorough rinse in fresh water has kept our lights in very good condition.

        Questions about this item:

Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
CHRISTI G  To accidentally drop it in the ocean at 100' on the first dive used.
Joel M  Before my first dive with the SL4 do I have to lubricate the O-ring? Or is it "plug and play" when first received? How often should it be lubricated? Thanks. Joel
JEROME P  Hi Joel, I used my light right out of the box without any problem. One thing: I haven't been using the switch because some reviewers complained they'd had it leak so I twist the rubber bezel to turn the light on and off. Lubricated the o-ring once when I changed the batteries. Light is still going strong! Hope this helps. Jerry
henry s  can you use lithium batteries in this flashlight instead of alkaline?
BRYAN L  As long as they are 1.5v nominal voltage. And lithium batteries that would fit (C type) would be 1.5v.
