this light is a solid classic. i think UK are the best dive lights. i had a miniQ40 (non-LED) for ten years, since i was 15. i loved it and used it for everything; camping, fishing, diving, etc. i lost it somehow. i thought it was bright, but this new eLED type is super bright. i also bought the mini pocket lite, and the SL4 sunlight (all UK). i use the SL4 and the miniQ40 between me and a friend when we go night snorkelling. it's plenty bright. i use the miniQ40 for backup when i go night diving. i also use the miniQ40 for day time snorkelling or diving for looking into caves and such. it's small, strong, durable, great shape and design. i don't think i'll ever not have at least a couple of UK lights.
P.S. eLED is the way to go! DON'T buy bulb lights. batteries last so much longer (at least ten times longer) and eLEDs don't break. my tech-diver freind said "get eLED-trust me!" he was right. trust me.

Bought the light a couple of years ago and it worked great for a while. I am a vacation diver and get in around 14 dives a year, never below 100'. The light had about 20 dives on it when it started having flooding issues. Now it floods on every dive, even on shallow dives 20'-30'. Tried everything (short of replacing the single o-ring) but can't seem to stop the flooding. The light still works when flooded but the inside of the lens crusts over with crystalized salt and needs to be cleaned after every dive trip. My next light will not have the on/off switch mechanism tied to twisting the lens housing as is the case with this light.

Best all-around dive light that I take on EVERY dive! It's attached to my mask on my right side, opposite my snorkel, which balances out the weight of both. People make fun of me for how it looks, but they always know where I am and that I'll have at least one light with me at all times.

Comments about Underwater Kinetics Mini Q40 eLED Dive Light:

I have owned this light for 3-4 years and it has always served me well. I use it for spearfishing during the day or at night. I have mounted this small light on the end of my speargun, and even on my hawaiian sling. One of the first times i used it, it was a backup light mounted on my speargun on a night dive where my C8 burned out both bulbs on the same dive! I then realized i did not have much use for the C8 after I saw the capabilities of this light. The beam is a bit too narrow as a primary light though.

I always keep the o-ring greased and have never had an issue.

Light is a twist to turn on. I have several of these lights and have found them to be very dependable IF you keep the o-ring well maintained. Nice, compact, bright light with concentrated beam. Excellent product!
