About Underwater Kinetics Sunlight C8 eLED Dive Light

UK's C8 eLED waterproof light is the world's most popular primary light. Many divers would not consider going underwater without the power of its bright, long-lasting beam. It starts with a unique dual power electronic circuit to control the matched pair of 6-watt white LED's. Its water-cooled heat sink actually increases brightness underwater and improves burn time. Polarized battery contact plates make it possible to interchange individual battery cells and rechargeable packs as well as prevent potentially dangerous reverse battery insertion.

Unlike the standard glass envelope lamps used since Edison, the LED will not break when dropped. The life expectancy is well over 5,000 hours. The light emitted by the LED (light emitting diode) is similar to sunlight and travels farther underwater than the more yellow light from an Edison lamp. In addition a power control circuit is built into the light to help maintain the same brightness throughout the discharge of a set of batteries. A tough O-ring sealed ABS and polycarbonate case protects the components all the way down to 500' (152.4 meters). The C8 eLED is powered by 8 disposable C"-cell alkaline batteries (included), or if you wish to upgrade it with a rechargeable kit the SKU: UKTRKC8E is available eliminating the need for replacement power cells. With alkaline batteries the light has a burn time of 13.9 hours on the high power setting and 19.7 hours on low.

The C8 eLED Dive Lights Dual 6-Watt LED's produces 400 lumens of brightness on high power and 270 lumens on low. The light has a beam distance of 494' (150.5 meters) in high-mode and 403' (122.8 meters) in low-mode on land. The light measures 7.2" x 7.1" x 3.2" (18.29 x 18.03 x 8.13 cm) and weighs 36 oz (1.02 kg). The C8 eLED Light is equipped with a non-breakable locking switch that prevents accidental actuation when in your gear bag and also has a protective heavy rubber lens boot for drop protection. Light handle is a pistol grip design and comes with an adjustable rubber sleeved wrist lanyard. Light is available in multiple colors, comes with an owner's manual, is proudly made in the USA and is covered by a limited lifetime warranty.

The Underwater Kinetics Sunlight C8 eLED Dive Light is commonly used for Close-Up Viewing, Night Diving, Recreational and more. The Underwater Kinetics Sunlight C8 eLED Dive Light is popular because customers like the following qualities of the Underwater Kinetics Sunlight C8 eLED Dive Light: Compact, High Intensity, Long Bulb Life, Reliable, Well-Focused.

I dive with it day and night.

I dive with this light day and night. For anything under about 8 metres it really brings out the colours and details so I can really see what I'm down there to see. For crevices, underhangs, and caves its great - I spot things I wouldn't normally see. I sometimes use it as an auxillary light for my buddy's photography. For night diving, well, it's fantastic. While my buddies are straining to see something with their dim 15cm spot of light, the beam on this thing swings over like an SUV j...

Great Light BAD switch

switch failed during a wreck dive, had to use my backup, and end the dive. This is a stupid problem, bad switch on an otherwise fantastic dive light. This is a common problem, and its only a matter of when not if this switch will fail. UK should recall this light.

Great light - bad switch

By

The light itself is excellent, i loved it until the switch started to fail. First it became flaky (turning off during the dive) eventually it would turn on only occasionally. I took it apart, it appears the problem is with the plastic slider that actuates the switch, not the switch itself - the actuator simply has too much play - incredibly cheap setup. I'm trying to jury rig it.

Questions about this item:

Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
JOHN S  Needed a good light for lobster hunting at night. Very pleased overall. Swtich assembly is a bit suspect but so far no issuses. My 3rd UK light. Just keep upgrading with led technology. One died due to operator error. eLed plus technology is nice.
Stella K  I lost my Manual. How to you change the Batteries again??
CHRIS G  Unscrew the black light housing and the batteries are behind it.
Stella K  Thanks Chris. I kinda figured that, but it wouldnt budge. Before I forced it I wanted to make sure. Being its a Dive light I didnt want to mess up any waterproofing. But with a little more torque it came unscrewed. Ahain... Thanks! KeyzzDzz
Shopper  What's the difference between this one and the plus one? Thanks.
David R  if you mean the C8ELED VS. the C8ELED PLus, it's just a newer version of the light but basically the same
JOHN S  Not sure if your comparing the UK C8 with the added Pelican Case and the one without...........but the only difference would be the case. (but that seems too simple) I have the C8 and the case, nice set up, but I also recently bought the the new C4 eLed plus, some new bulb technology. The C4 eLed plus has the aame useable brightness as the older C8 LED, but requires 1/2 the batteries and seems last about the same amount of time. Been hunting lobsters off the coast of California for the last month, have 12 - one hour night dives on both lights (buddy is using the C8) I prefer the smaller C4, lighter and we'll see which one gives up on batteries frist. But as of now, they seem to be performing equally but probalby getting close to needing new batteries. Picked up a packaged deal C4 eLed plus with the mini Q40 eLed plus for about $100 at a local shop, Lobster Night Opener Sale. (was not the turtle pack) Original intention was to get a back up light, which was accomplished, with the bonus of a new primary. Hope this helps....the plus technology seems to be worth it.
