Aqua Lung Power Bands for Slingshot & Hotshot Fins (pair)

JAMAL S  I've used my fins for over 100 dives and only changed 2 bands. Make sure you're washing them with warm water after every dive

GREGROY E  I have had my fins for 3 years and I use them in fresh and salt water diving at least 10 to 15 times a year and I am still on my original bands. I only bought the replacement bands as spares in case I broke one on the boat. I always rinse well after I use them in fresh water and in the sea I soak all my gear for 24 hours to get all the salt out. Maybe that is your problem.

GREGROY E  Although I bought the bands, my intention was for spares. I have had my fins for 3 years and are still on the original bands. Because all of my diving requires me to travel by car and/or by plane to go dive, I make an effort to have enough spare parts so that I will never miss a dive due to something breaking. As far as how long they last? No Idea. They get used a lot by me and they are also rinsed well afer diving, especially after a dive in the ocean. Hope the anser helped.

GREGORY S  Great replacement bands. Depends on your amount if diving. I got two years of diving with them. As an instructor I use them both in the pool and quarry. Taking care of them by rinsing with fresh water helps. I utilizes them on second setting.

DAVID B  I've had mine since they came out .I've change them once Used about 45 times or so in fresh and salt water.I normally leave strap in same slot unless I'm in heavy current.Good luck.

JON W  I used these fins for snorkeling only and found them less than favorable so I returned them. (We are in the water for between 2 to 3 hours a couple of times a day) I had to kick like crazy to get any propulsion on the surface and since most of my time is on the surface they did not perform favorably as fins for my intended use. I couldn't even keep up with my wife with her bargain basement fins. So, I did not use them long enough to really see how long the power bands lasted. The people I talked to that had these fins said they never had to replace the bands. The ones that had band break did use them diving and were standing on the bottom and pushing off, which broke the bands, but you should not be standing on the bottom to begin with. The other problems were entering the water from a boat with the fins on. (jumping off a high deck into the water) This creates unusual stress on the power bands so I believe the people that had problems used them inappropriately and it was not the fault of the product. Try some split fins if you are using these to stop cramps.

DREW A  That is a good point Bob, I set my bands at the tightest setting to get max torque. However, love the multiple settings as I can adjust torque depending on the loads I'm pushing. When I free dive and don't have my blades, I use the slingshots on the most flex setting

DREW A  For me, It depends on where you are diving. When I shore dive up in Big Sur, the sharp rocks nick the bands on the entrance and exits so when I really crank on them they may break. I have had a pair of bands last for 2 years and another pair last for 6 months. Had my Sling Shots for over 5 years now and they have been awesome for the type of diving I do. Don't mind occasionally replacing a moving part on a tool that works hard and takes a severe beating.

BOB R  I set my bands at most stretch after watching my wife flex her fins. Neither of us are super strong swimmers and these fins are quite flexible. I have not had the power bands fail but I replace them after only five or six dives. I've seen other users have failures too; I'm thinking of changing fins. Even with bands set at most stretch they seem to flex too much and I feel I'm loosing energy. Hope this helps.

BRUCE P  I've used mine for two years worth of diving. 75+ dives a year.

JACOB D  Depends on where you store them and how you dive. If they are dry rotting, they will last 10 times longer stored in ac than in the garage or shed. If they are breaking, its likely you are kicking corals and should try different kicks in close quarters to reefs.

BJORN E  there really isn't a video needed, the bands go on and off pretty easy just follow how you take one off and reverse the process by putting the new one on.

WARREN R  These can be a little difficult but with some patience they really aren't too bad. I used a really small screw driver to help open the holes in order to slip them over the pins. Just be really careful to not damage your new band. I too couldn't find anything to help me but once I got started it was alright.

MICHAEL C  When I did it I had to use a flat head screwdriver to loosen up the connection to the mid-fin (where the large black 'nut' goes) and then do the same to get the new band on. Quite the challenge and I was hoping the fin wouldn't break the whole time!

RONNIE B  They are exactly the same size and will fit once the insert is removed.

BRENT H  Sorry, I don't know. I only own the Slingshot fins and am not sure if the replacement bands fit both. Perhaps you can find the answer on Aqualung's website? Brent

PAMELA M  I love the fins but read several reviews about the power bands breaking. This has NOT been an issue for me, but I do not want to chance having a problem on a dive trip.
