Great Gear Bag

By Mountain S.

This is a great gear bag for all of my scuba equipment. Comfortable to carry, easy to access gear (Side zipper and top access). Outside zippered compartment holds dive log, camera, cert cards, wallet, etc. Great for boat dives when you need to keep all of your gear together. It holds my full wetsuit, two masks, snorkel, fins, boots, BCD, towel, camera, regulator (in aqualung travel case) and a set of clothes. Very impressed with quality at a pretty decent price. Great quality bag, definitely recommend

By kiowas99

I use this product as a gear bag to and from and while on the boat. I would not depend on this to be your airplane or travel bag- it is rubberized mesh and not intended for that. But it serves it purpose well and is made very well. I am very satisfied. It has a zipper running down its entire length so you can get into it easily when you forgot something that is at the bottom. The straps are comfy. The front pocket is like the front of a school backpack with interior pockets for c-card, keys, ...

Q&A

Questions & Answers

Questions about this item:

Shopper  Does this bag hold it's shape when you toss it on a boat? My current bag billows out.
THOMAS G  The bag is mesh, so it allows air and water to flow through it. It doesn't billow out but it is pliable so it doesn't hold it's shape the way, for instance, a suitcase would. In function, it's more like a canvas duffle, but specially designed for your dive gear. I find a bit heavy to pack, though, so I don't take it on every trip.
STEVE C  I have no problem with this bag losing it shape. I've been using this bag for for five years now Sure beats the mesh style of bag that you have to carry with the handle that I use for my first 35 years of diving
Lynn U  can this bag be submerged in the rinse tank?
THOMAS G  Yes. I have submerged it in the rinse tank without issue and do so at the end of each dive week. I don't rinse it daily because, unlike your wet suit or BCD, it is not submerged in salt on a daily basis.
THOMAS S  I would say it depends on how it is used. They're is nothing special about the material and I wash my bag at home in the tub with fins and masks. However, while on trips I use this bag to carry gear on land and the bag gets sand and dirt on it inside and out. As a result I would never put the bag in a rinse tank with any delicate dive gear such as regulators. I would think it would be ok to rinse in a tank dedicated to were suites if not took dirty.
FRANK T  Yes it can. Everything is made either with the denier nylon which dries really easily or with the plastic like mesh. The bag also has a couple of holes on the bottom that allows adequate draining. A fine bag to take snorkeling or diving.
CAROL A  Absolutely. I dunk the whole bag in the rinse tank with all my gear.
JOSHUA E  Yeah I put mine in the shower after a day on the beach or diving.
JEFF T  Sure. It's all nylon and rubber. Pretty much the same as all these type of bags.
STEVEN R  Absolutely, and it likes it.
Xenofon S  when this bag is full with a pair of fins 60cm long plus a travel bc (travellight-cressi) plus wetsuit, reg, mask & booties, will be consider as a handbaggage on the plane?
RICHARD D  The Aqua Lung backpack is large in size, and while it is ideal for carrying all of your gear between dive locations, its size also makes it difficult for storing in an airplane cabin. It may not be reliable as a checked bag, given that the top closes via a drawstring and may not hold contents when jostled in a cargo hold and handled by security personnel.
NATHAN T  No the size of the bag discounts it as a carry on piece of luggage. On my last trip I packed this bag in my regular check in bag along with my fins. Everything else went into my Nike gym bag as carry on. Once landed I used this bag to seperate, organize, and haul my dive gear around to the various dive trips I took. This is a high quality item- I own two and recommend it.
CAROL M  No, it is too big to be a carry on.
JUNE H  It will be too long and too heavy to be considered as carry-on.
PAUL H  You might be able to pass is off as a carry on but I doubt it. When the backpack is that full it is larger than the carry on dimensions.
JOHN R  Hard to say really! You could definitely try. But the bag is pretty large. I think with the bag full of gear, it may exceed the carry on specs for most airlines. I've never used this bag for airline travel. I've taken it with me on out of country travels to lug my stuff from the hotel room to the dive boat. I don't put my BC in there because I don't have travel BC, put I place two sets of masks, fins, snorkels, wetsuits, booties, towels, water bottles, etc.
Shopper  what is the weight of this bag when empty?
SCOTT S  Using a baggage scale, it weighs in at 2.7 pounds.
Mark F  2.6 lbs, Very well built and very nice!
JUNE H  It weighs 2.6lbs.
SCOTT S  2.7 pounds
GEORGE J  approximately a pound and a half or slightly less.
CHARLIE D  I would say a little over a pound DRY. If i were you i would buy the bag. It's better than the last one i had that was designed like this but it did not have the zipper on the side. the straps that connect to each other across the chest helps alot.
MICHAEL B  AquaLung website says 2.6 lbs total weight.
BRUCE L  5lbs
MICHAEL D  The bag is very light. Approximately 2 pounds when empty.
MARISOL S  Not exactly sure, but I would guess about 3 lb. It is nice and sturdy.
GREG K  Would 1 or 2 pair of the Aqualung Hotshot fins lit in this bag?
STEPHEN G  Not familiar with that actual brand but two pair of dive fines should fit no problem.
PAUL H  I have a pair of Hot Shots. I could easily fit 2 pair of those fins in the bag with room to spair.
MICHAEL D  2 will fit depending on what other gear you place in the bag. If you are only taking a wet suit, your BC, and dive computer, it may be a little tight, but it should work.
JAMES M  2 easily, very big for just about everything you can think of..
CAROL A  Two pairs of fins and some gear will easily fit in this bag.
THOMAS W  Prob fit 2 pair of fins, but no other large gear after the fins, e.g. BCD
JEREMY J  It is quite roomy and had no problem holding my new scuba pro fins. It also depends on if you need to drawstring it tightly closed, or can let items stick out the top. In the often hurried process of getting your gear in the bag and off the boat or beach, it probably doesn't matter much.
KEVIN D  Yes easily
DANA W  2 pair if nothing else is going. I can fit my drysuit, fins, computer, light ,bcd, reg, mask, hood, and gloves. No undergarments, towel, Or extras as it is @ max capacity.
Steve S  This will absolutely hold two pairs of Hotshot fins. There will probably still be a little room left.
RICHARD W  Probably 2 depending on what else you have in there
VP219781 R  Yes. It fits 2 pair of fins (mine is a hotshot and a Cressi), full suit, masks and you probably can throw in other smaller items like lights, snorkels and such.
RICHARD G  I traveled to Mexico with this back a few months ago. For that trip I carried 1 set of regular atomic fins, mask and snorkel, and my BCD .....no problem.
SCOTT S  Hi Bud, this is a full size backpack and will easily hold a full set of gear. Fins, mask, booties, BC, regulator, wetsuit(s). If your question is just the two sets of fins, no problem - 2 sets of gear, then no unless you are using travel lite gear like Zuma BCs. Hope this helps some. In regards to the bag itself, it is heavy duty in comparison to most other bags and worth the extra money.
