About Aqua Lung Axiom BC

The Axiom is a durable, full-featured BC that boasts amazing comfort and fit. This ADV style, wrap-around jacket has a super streamlined air cell and gets its noticeable comfort and support from Aqua Lung's proprietary Wrapture harness system (pat. pend.). The Wrapture allows you to stand up straight in total comfort while the cylinder remains perfectly vertical and pulled in close. This comfort, along with the innovative GripLock tank band and the SureLock integrated weight system will make the Axiom the new standard for recreational divers. The Axiom comes in seven sizes and two color combination: black / charcoal, black / charcoal / blue.

Wrapture Harness System (pat. pend.) Using patented swivel shoulder buckles and a proprietary, ultra-thin back plate, the Wrapture provides unsurpassed comfort and stability. Wrapture prevents the BC from riding-up" on the surface. Out of the water, the Wrapture keeps the cylinder close to your center of gravity and transfers the weight to your hips. The result is the ability to stand up straight with a cylinder that is perfectly vertical.

SureLock II Mechanical Weight Release System (patented) provides a safe, single-pull release. Inserting weight is as simple as insert and click". With SureLock, your weights are secure in the BC. Once engaged, the only way to release the weight is to pull on the handle. The Sure-Lock II Mechanical Weight Release System with 20 to 30 lbs. (9 to 13.5 kg) Capacity (sizes dependent). The Axiom also has fixed non-releasable weight pockets attached to the cylinder band with capacities of 10 lbs. (4.5kg).

The GripLock Tank Band is a strong, secure way to attach the cylinder to the BC. Gone are the days of complicated web weaving through multi-slot buckles. Predetermined détente settings make set-up simple. No adjustments are necessary when switching cylinders of the same diameter. Best of all, you don't have to worry about pinching your fingers with GripLock's innovative finger saver feature (pat. pend.).

A bladder retraction system is used to pull in the sides of the bladder during deflation. This keeps unit streamlined and reduces drag. An adjustable chest strap can be raised or lowered on a rail system. This not only ensures a good fit but also keeps strap from running across top of a dry suit valve. A scooped octo-pocket on the top, front of the right lobe makes it easy to stow and deploy an octopus. The octopus remains visible and accessible throughout the dive. Some divers may find it useful to run their instruments behind the left pocket and out the scooped opening on the top, front of the lobe. Pocket within a pocket A small security pocket is found on the flap of a larger drop-down pocket. Knife attachment points are found on the left lobe which will accommodate many of the Aqua Lung knives. This location provides easy access to the knife. BC features 5 stainless steel D-rings and 2 plastic D-rings for all your accessories.

The Axiom comes equipped with Aqua Lungs Power Line Inflator with an increased fill rate which is now, one of the highest air flows in the industry. The Power Line is an environmentally sealed unit for less maintenance, has integrated hose clips for attachment to the LP hose for a streamline and low profile. The inflator is equipped with a cable activated rapid exhaust at the top, simply pull down on lower unit to dump air. Right shoulder pull dump provides an additional dumping option. Rolled neck collar for comfort. Axiom i3 provides from 27 to 48 lbs. (12.25 to 21.78 kg) of Lift. BCD comes with an owner's manual.

The Aqua Lung Axiom BC is commonly used for Recreation, Warm Water and more. The Aqua Lung Axiom BC is popular because customers like the following qualities of the Aqua Lung Axiom BC: Comfortable, Easily Adjustable, Lots Of Features.

Just Right!

This is a very well thought out BCD. Its very comfortable, not overly padded or overly bulky. I like that is doesnt have a cumberbund. Cannot comment on durability yet but it appears very well made. I have tried many bcds from lightweight travel to heavy duty backplate and wing systems. In the end this bcd turned out to be just right. Not too lightweight and not to heavy. By the way this can be folded down to fit in a carry on suitcase.

Fine BC, except designed to fail

This BC has a design issue which will eventually puncture the BC bladder. Mine failed and it was repaired at an unreasonable expense. Get a different BC

Great product

This item was a gift upon completion of certification training. This is also the equipment used by the certification course, so I was happy to already be familiar with it.

Top notch recreational BC

By

Veru well built, stable, nice weight release system. Fits very big if you're tall and slim. More than height and weight, take a look at chest and over the shoulder measures for proper sizing. Looks sturdy, octo pocket and gauge pocket are a very clever bonus.

Questions about this item:

Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
WILLIAM M  I bought this base on brand and price fit. I am somewhat pleased. It is a lot heavier than my old BC, but with change comes adjustment. I used it this past weekend for the first time. Overall its good. 3 things I do NOT like: the inflator hose is hard to locate when needed. Both purge valves are not easy to access even though they appear to be and the the pocket that your console feeds thru and holds does not allow ease of accessibility to see pressure and computer gauge.
David O  Hi, I’m looking to buy an Axiom BCD, but struggling with what size I should go for…. Hoping someone could provide some guidance. Height 6,2 Weight 230lb/105kg Waist 36 The problem is I’m tall with broad shoulders, but have a narrow waist. In the size chart the Large starts at 38 waist and the concern is the BCD might ride up on me underwater… I normally dive a 5mm wetsuit, so that might also push the waist size up a little... I know that sizing is key with the wrapture system. Should I go for the ML, or Large? Many Thanks, David
ALLAN A  I'm 6'0" and 210 lb.s and the large fits me well.
LAURENCE W  I Think the large is the proper size.
WILLIAM M  I purchased the large size to fit over a 3/2 suit. I am 6'1" at 220lbs, 36" wasit. It fits fine. I would not recommend going anything smaller than the large. I just made a dive last night with a 7mm suit and it wore fine without any issues as far as being too tight. You don't need to worry about it riding up because the jacket styles prevents this unless you wear it too loose. Getting use to the integrated weight system will take an adjustment if your not use to them. Always make sure the inserts are locked in. I lost one on my second dive. They about $30 plus the cost of the weights. Hope this helps. Scott
rgrountree r  David, I am 6'1 , 215 size 36 waist and I have the large. I notice I still have lots of length in the belt , so you just might be able to get away with the ML. If you can find in a local dive shop you could try out the sizes first.
SCOTT R  I'd go Large - I am 6-1" 220 and that's what I wear.
JOSEPH S  I'm not nearly as tall as you. 5'10", but I'm 220 lbs with a 34" waist. I use a large, it works with a 7 mm wetsuit and with just a rash guard and board shorts in warm water. Haven't had an issue with it riding up.
RICHARD P  I'm 6' tall and weigh around 190 lbs. The large fits great. I've used it with a 7mm as well as a 5mm wetsuit. There is enough adjustment that you will be able to cinch it down appropriately.
DANIEL Z  I am almost the exact same measurements and I fit well in a ML
David O  Thanks Dan, ML it is!
Shopper  What does "ADV" stand for?
TAREK A  Advanced Design Fit. This terms are sometimes frustrating.
Frank L  ADV is an old term, first used by Seaquest which means Advanced Design Vest. Terminology for what is now, the standard jacket style BCD.
