About Tusa Platina II Hyperdry Snorkel

The SP-170 Platina II Hyperdry Snorkel is Tusa's Premier Semi-Dry Snorkel incorporating several features such as the patented Hyperdry System making this one of the most Stylish and Feature Packed Snorkels on the market. The Hyperdry System keeps the Main Tube Dry by Ejecting Water through an Independent Escape Pipe. This unique design utilizes the Angle of the Snorkel Tube and the Resilience of the Water Surface to Eject Water. The Smooth Internal Bore Corrugated Lower Tube (pipe) offers a more Comfortable Fit since it creates No-Load on the Ergonomically Angled Mouthpiece, Straightens-Out during Diving and doesn't Get-in-the-Way when Switching from the Snorkel to the Scuba Regulator.

The Swivel Adapter Snorkel Keeper makes it possible to Slip the Mask Strap into the Slit of the Keeper with no hassles. The Two-Part Construction allows the Snorkel to Rotate and can be attached in a horizontal position and Quickly-Detached from the Mask if needed. The used on Tusa Snorkels offers a covered Large Diameter Purge Valve for Simple, Quick Clearing, reducing the amount of water remaining in the mouthpiece in an instant. Snorkel is available in 12 colors, so there's sure to be one to match your gear. Like your Scuba Regulator the Mouthpiece is Replaceable to extend the life of the Snorkel. Snorkel is covered by a 36 month limited warranty.

I have owned several snorkels and this is the first one that I am completely satisfied with. It is light-weight, low-profile, easy to breathe, aquadynamically designed, impressively resistent to flooding, easy to purge, it looks cool and it has a comfortable mouthpiece. It's worth noting that this is not a "truly dry" snorkel. That is, it doesn't have any sort of mechanism that seals the bore when you submerge. I have owned those types of snorkels and didn't really like them as they had a tendency to close up at inopportune times, and occassionally got stuck. Although the Tusa is not "truly dry", it is very intelligently engineered and reduces flooding by, I would say, more than 50%. When it does flood (which is not often) it is very easy to clear. I use a snorkel when I scuba dive and this one does a great job of staying out of the way, not creating much drag, AND it has a clip (plus it's foldable) so you can easily remove it from your mask and store it in your BC if you felt so inclined. Again, I have had several snorkels (none of which were cheap) and this is the only one I've been happy with and the only one I would replace with an identical one should it end up broken or lost.

Not a "dry" snorkel

As far as snorkels go, this one isn't too bad. It's definatly not a true "dry" snorkel though.

Comments about Tusa Platina II Hyperdry Snorkel:

My husband and I started using Hyperdry Tusa mask and snorkel for more than 17 years now. We love it. We are ocean swimmers majority of the time and are also divers. We also swim in the pool during winter. I use my diving mask and snorkel in the pool but my husband doesn't. It is the best product we have experienced with and will remain faithful. We highly recommend them !!!

Comments about Tusa Platina II Hyperdry Snorkel:

Great semi-dry snorkel for scuba diving. I didn't want a dry snorkel mainly due to them being larger and add extra drag when diving. Usually cleared at first attempt. Very easy airway control in the case first purge attempt didn't clear it completely.
