As well as being a weekend warrior instructor, I also travel the world for work, so I am constantly looking for ways to reduce the weight of my gear. I have tried several travel BCD's in the past but they all seemed to compromise on one feature or another. Not so the Tusa Voyager. Even with integrated weights (admittedly only 2lbs in each) there was plenty of room for spare mask, reel and torch, as well as an SMB clipped to 2 of the 9 D rings.
Fits like a glove, fantastic back support, and ...tank is held solid as a rock, because of the double straps and what I would describe as an integrated STA (although of course this BCD is only for single tank usage). I am short (1.67m or 5'7") and my head was not rubbing up against first stage and nor were my legs were kicking against bottom of tank.
Bought the Tusa active purge assist for the fun of it. Finger tip control from the first moment when started to descend, great fun. Could I live without it? Yes. Would I want to live without it from now on? No. And there is also a release on lower right side for when you are bum up on a reef or in a wreck.
And the surface position in the water is high and comfortable, and also stable when lying on your back when waiting for pick up.
Absolutely recommended for any traveller or warm water recreational diver.
just spent a few happy dives with it in Tulamben, Bali, diving the the USS Liberty and surrounding sites.
I'm a Divemaster and also traveling since a year ago. I've bought this BCD because there were not other lightweight choices at the dive shop. Also it was really affordable! I'm counting almost 50 immersions with it.
The best thing for me is it's very simple and the lighter one!
I don't like to much its weight system but after used it I could say it works well. Even it's really easy to give the complete weight pocket to another diver if he needs it! Thanks to this BCD, I move from 12 to 6/4 ...lbs. It's almost neutrally buoyant, fits perfect and have pockets for accessories!!! (Others don't and at the end I think it's better to have them instead a last technology weight system)
I don't like the two tank strap system in the back. It's very uncomfortable if you dive from a boat several times a day. You cannot take them off, neither for replace for a fast bucle system or just take off the second one! It's not a big deal but if you dive more than one time every day... In the other had, I think it's a plus for shore diving.
I love the console sleeve!
I agree the hose of the power inflator is a bit longer for an small size bcd.
And what I really don't like and I really miss is it have no manual relief valve in the right upper shoulder as many BCDs commonly have... It's very functional for me!
I put 5 stats because it satisfies its goal: it's for travel! But also it's a very good BCD.
I hope TUSA release a new version with improves!

Can you use a weight belt instead of loading up the jacket?
SCOTT S
The included pockets are designed to hold weights with a quick release, however a weightbelt can be used instead of pockets on any jacket. The belt would just go on first, and then the jacket would be donned over top of the belt(just be sure your belt has a quick release that you can or your buddy can access).
KENNETH R
The jacket provides integrated weight system! However the pouches are not meant for a bunch of weight! If you need more than 5kg/10lbs then a weight belt is high encouraged.

You will receive Tusa Voyager BCD with weight pockets and inflator hose.

Does this bcd has a LP quick disconnect hose ??
YUFENG Q

YAN G

To anyone who has used the Tusa Voyager, can you tell me whether the air cell is primarily restricted to the back? Is it a hybrid system? Do the side panels also inflate? I'm also unsure about proper sizing. At 170cm (5"7") and 63kg (140lbs), should I be considering a medium or a small? Thanks!
CHRISTIANO T
Hi, I have it for a while now and so far it was a great buy. It is really comfy and light. It inflates on the side like a normal BC. I am smaller than you and I have a medium size.
Stefano D
Thank you for the response. If you put on the BCD securely and then inflate, do the sides start to squeeze you? This is what I dislike most about my existing jacket-style BCD, so I don't want to repeat the mistake. I also worry that mobility below the arms is reduced if the air bladder wraps too much.
You mentioned that you are smaller sized, but wear the medium. Based on your experience, would you prefer to change to size S?
CHRISTIANO T
Hi, I am 1,63 tall and 70kg. I have no problem with the medium size. It inflates on the back and on the sides and I never felt squeezed. M should fit you just fine. Remember this is a travel BCD and its main advantaged is the really light weight (it is really light). I use it to all my dives and I couldn't be happier with it but this is me. Other thing is that is a BCD for tropical waters. It will not keep up you on the surface if you carrying 10 or 12 kg of weight. I use a short 4mm suit with 4 or 5 kg and it is perfect. Good luck with the purchase.

Hi,
I can't answer youtr question of size, but I beleive the air cell does wrap around you to some extent. I was very happy with the quality and funtionality as well as price. I live in the tropics and climate is ruff on B@Cs but has held up well.

I'm male, 5'11 in height and weight 160 lbs. What size would you recommend for me? I used to wear Dacor Talon in medium size.
KEUNYONG L
hi, now I'm using Tusa BCJ 1800(Large/Xlarge) for 6 months.
I think you may be normal schelecton.
I am same as your height and weight is 175pound.
When I use this stuff, I make both shoulder and waist strap all the way tightly..
(I mean LargeXlarge one is little bit bigger than my body)
but, this BC isn't wholely big size cause of travelling purposed.
Shoulder strap is very thin and there isn't waist strap(just 1 buckle)
(It sometimes uncomfortable to wear this jacket both on a boat and at on surf
but there is no big stress)
This stuff's merit point is very comfortable and well fit in the water.
And buoyancy is lower than other BCs..so you can drop 2pounds weight or more..
I recomend you buy Medium one. If I buy this one again, I will use
Medium size.
Have a good shopping and enjoy safety diving.
