These are great for tropical diving. Do not buy these if you dive cold water below 85'. I've had a couple sets, all serviced (once by Sherwood). They almost always free flow when deeper than 85' and with water colder than 55 degrees. Google it, because it's a common problem. Sherwood provides no post-sales support for this issue. They just tell you it's cold water rated and to get it serviced. You can't even talk to a Sherwood person, you must go through their distributor Cramer Decker. I will never buy another Sherwood product due to the way they treat their customers, and the quality of their new products.

Comments about Sherwood SR1 Regulator:

I bought this regulator rescently and it works great. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was due to the small mouthpiece, which requires you to clenchyour teeth to hold it firmly in place. I will definately be getting a new one for it and then this should be an awesome regulator all around

    First stage problem

      Comments about Sherwood SR1 Regulator:

Both my wife and myself have had SR1's for a couple years. Both have a first stage problem where the nut loosens at the yoke and the internal O-ring blows out and the first stage fails. Has happened on both our regulators, mine at 80 feet. You need to ensure the nut is tight for every dive. Not the best design......

This is a great regulator compared to other Sherwood regulators, such as the Magnum regulator. The Sherwood Magnum regulator was difficult to breathe from.

        Questions about this item:

Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
JOSEPH A  Great regulator at the right price. I have had this regulator in temps of 40 degrees to 80 degrees. Great breather and is not a dry breather.
alexis g  I lost the bottom piece of the second stage what they call a mustache, where I can find? is a plastic piece.
        TIMOTHY G  uh SHERWOOD
Shopper  I would like to know if this is a cold water reg (for ice diving a few times per year and below 55 on a regular basis)? I have read some reviews that say it will not work (freeflows) under 55. Please advise. Thanks.
MICHAEL E  I dove in the Galapagos last month and it got down to 51F and the reg worked fine, no problems- did three dives each about 40 mins. I like warmer dives usually and this is the coldest that I have dove- normally in the 80s!! I had a minor problem in Cocos earlier in the year and the reg fluttered but I adjusted the manual flow and it flowed evenly then. Other than that it has been great and very easy to care for- have had it for 3 years now had it serviced for regular maintenance once.
