I'm a rather small woman with approx. 100 dives logged. I've used all sorts of rental gear till buying this BCD - so I have a pretty good basis of comparioson. I love my new Luna. Maybe I'd just love it cuz it's my own gear, tho -- but it's mighty fine! I would rather have had the cool zipper vest that Zecor (?) offers - but I needed Sherwood since it can be serviced most everywhere in the world (especially on Roatan).

It's convenient - everything in the right place for quick donning and exit. Love the integrated weight system -- easy in and out.

And it's kinda feminine -- why can't Sherwood make a funky jacket for women? Or color choices?

    cons -
    1) I wish BCDs came without the elastic sternum strap -- why? It just stretches out of shape and then I'll have to replace it. bummer.
    2) Full inflation for rough surface water made me feel pretty squeezed -- I've never noticed this in other brands. It's tolerable for sure, but an annoyance - I've certainly been more comfy in other brands at full inflation.
    3) The strap that holds the inflator is too low -- it's much more efficient if the strap doesn't hold it quite so far down. (air rises . . .)

The craftsmanship is not the best. The membrane at the shoulder release valve will not stay put. The only problem may be the intake of water when the valve is open. I didn't notice any significant amount of water after the dive. The handle on the lower release valve came off in my hand during the first dive. I put it in my pocket and was able to reattach after the dive. The vest is comfortable, and with the exception of those 2 minor problems the BC worked well.

Comments about Sherwood Luna BCD with CQR Weight Integration System:

I only recently became a certified diver, and I wanted to purchase a BCD that was really made for a woman before I went out for my certification dives. Not to be too specific, but I am fairly short, with a large chest and smaller waist, so I was initially worried that this BCD would not fit. I ordered a medium, put it on the second it arrived, and it fit like a glove. I love this thing. There are only two negative things about this BCD, that I have found thus far, and the first is that there are not enough places for clips, attachments, etc. There are a number of pockets, but a very limited number of places to attach a whistle, retractable compass, etc. Second, the strap on the waist is elastic, and does not adjust very far. My BCD fits like a glove now, so I am a tad worried about what the fit will be like if I put on a thicker wetsuit. But, those are my only complaints thus far. Other than that, I am extremely happy with this purchase!!

Comments about Sherwood Luna BCD with CQR Weight Integration System:

Very comfortable BCD for the price, that fits a women's body well. Mine fits well, except a little snug when fully inflated. I have only used it on a couple of dives so far, but I'm very pleased!

The only reason I put poor craftsmanship is because the waist strap is an undersized piece of elastic. The buckle slipped off on my second dive, but it was easy enough to put back on. Annoying, but not a big deal.

            Questions about this item:

Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
NEAL R G  great BC for a woman. have used this for many years. Hope Sherwood never stops making this. good price at LeisurePro
            sabrena h  I am 5'9, 150lbs and a 30" waist and 36" chest. What size should I get?
WILLIAM M  Probably a small, but best to try one on in a local shop.
Shopper  What is the difference between the two Sherwood Luna models that you have? swdl and swdln?
SEAN H  I belive the main difference other than the SWDLIN being a newer model is the CQR weight system. The newer model is CQR2 where the SWDL is CQR. I think they made some minor modifications on the CQR2 version. The BC pockets are also slightly different between the two. My wife bought the newer model just so she had the newer weight pockets. *One piece of advice it to also call LeisurePro directly as you can typically get a better price than what you see on-line. I have worked with Sam Berk many times in the past and just asked what the best price I could get on a given item and have saved quite a bit of money doing that than just ordering on-line through their site. This does not work for every item but I know hat they can do better prices on Sherwood. So just go through the extra effort of calling and hopefully save some money. I think it also helps if you are a previous customer but definitely is not mandatory as I have had friends do the same thing on their first purchase. I belive we were able to get the newer Luna for $329 or $339 but don't recall specifically. Good luck.
