Exceptional service/delivery as always...packaging was clean and intact, shipped fast!

Treat your hardworking crew to one of the most comfortable lightweight, warm weather vests on the market when you keep Stearns Search & Rescue (SAR) Flotation Vests on deck. Each crew member will find these US Coast Guard (USCG) Approved Type III Personnel Flotation Devises (PFDs) equipped with all the features needed for a demanding day on the water.

Strong mesh fabric on the back and shoulder allow the breeze to cool wearers on hot days, while the distinctive orange color and 62 sq. in. (400 sq. cm) of 3M Scotchlite reflective material SOLAS-grade 6755 on panels add visibility in the water and on the boat. With added comfort features like a rolled, stand-up collar, 2-adjustable 1.5" (3.8 cm) encircling belts 1-adustable chest strap all with squeeze-style" quick-release buckles and a full front zipper closure. The Stearns SAR Vest utilizes soft aqua-foam and durable cross-tech flotation foams, has two front cargo pockets and D-rings for accessories. Your crew will insist on wearing these vests all day long. Vest comes with a signal whistle and provides a minimum 15.5 lbs. (7 kg) of buoyancy.

Questions & Answers

Questions about this item:

Shopper  would suffice for a 260 man ?
Mario C  it should. It depends what he has on him. Buoyancy 15.5 lbs. (7 kg)
Judith J  Need SAR vest to meet Civil Air Patrol requirements. Does this one fit the bill?
KATHERINE E  I'm sorry, I don't know what the Civil Air Patrol requirements are, so I can't say whether it meets them. One of our biologists here at the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service picked this out because it meets our requirements.
GEORGE B G  I was unable to find any specific CAP requirements for PFDs, however, since this vest meets the USCG Type III PFD requirements I would say the question comes down to your intended usage. Where it is inherently buoyant, I would not think it a good choice for aboard an aircraft ("In the unlikely event of a water landing" an inherently buoyant vest has the potential to trap you in a submerged/sinking aircraft.) For ground-based search teams (to include those operating from boats), this vest should be adequate. My fire department uses this vest for our line tenders and shore safeties on our water rescue team.
DAN L  Hi Judith, I wish I could help but I don't know the answer. I'd suggest contacting the administration or safety officer for your Civil Air Patrol group.
