Great Bag

Great space for dive gear but pocket for clothes could be a little bigger. I try to pack light but still needed more room.

Not up to par

After reading the rave reviews of the Jamaican Smuggler, I decided to get one. The first time I took this bag on a trip one of the wheels broke; the design of the wheels is such that it is impossible to fix on your own, there is no axle casing as on other bags-- the wheel and axle are integral so when the outer housing breaks the wheel just falls out. Imagine dragging a dive bag to a parking garage where there are no luggage carts. I travel frequently and while good luggage is hard to find ...

Great bag to hold all your gear

from Bakersfield, CA, US

I took this bag with me on a trip to Hawaii. The airline specified that the outer dimensions of the bag could be no more than 62" and this bag fit the bill. I was a little nervous that my fins would not fit (I have the ScubaPro Gorilla fins), but they fit perfectly. I was able to fit BC, regulator (I had to take it out of the regulator bag to get it to fit, just padded it with my wetsuit to protect the regulator), fins, wetsuit, booties, plus some other accessories quite easily. I also have a larger Stahlsac bag that I really like, but it's a bit overkill on most dive trips. This bag was perfectly sized.

Awesome quality

from 94611, CA, US

Very nice quality materials. Not heavy and plenty of space for a complete scuba set up and more.

This the bag to own. Lots of room for anything you need.

Fast delivery

Nice bag

A well made bag. Durable materials, well put together. I like the minimal number of pockets, too many pockets is just too many places to misplace things, and too many zippers to jam. Nice and lightweight, rolls well.

Looks great !!!

Bought this for xmas. Have not used it yet, but like everything that I see. Build with tough bottom for airlines. Great pocket layout. This comes in a bigger size but we do NOT travel with our BC's so it's perfect for our regs, and other gear for 2 divers!

Questions & Answers Powered by TurnTo®

Questions about this item:

Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
VIRGINIA R  Great lightweight dive bag. Holds everything I need, and then some.
GEORGE J  Great bag. Solid as a rock, holds my gear and handles abuse well. I've used this bag all over the world and it holds up.
MATTHEW O  Expensive but worth it. Very heavy duty yet light in it's weight.
Erin O  Always had fine history with Stahlsac gear bags, for many years - they've always held up under the most difficult situations, including this one, very happy with this bag..
Shopper  dimensions of main compartment?
THOMAS G  The specs say 15x18x27 inches - that's gotta be close to the dimensions of the main compartment b/c the small compartment on the small end isn't very big. I bought this bag in 2011 - not sure if it's changed a whole lot. I use it on every dive trip I make. Just got back from Coz the other day and it was with me. I get all my gear in the bag except for my reg bag - that's a carry-on for me - BC, fins, 2 .5mm wetsuits booties and spares, spare masks, a couple of boxes of tools and spares, empty dry sack, canvas bags, hangars and stuff that can't remember. The weight always comes in around 47 pounds. I like the bag.
David C  Capacity is just under 6500 cubic inches, plenty of room to fit >50 lbs of gear in. Main compartment fits both my 20-inch-long travel fund and my longer Tusa Tri-X fins. But if you're packing for air travel, weight is the controlling factor, anyway, not size.
Julie W  Will this bag work as a carry-on or checked bag only? Also, will a pair of fins fit in it?
LAUREL F  My Atomic split fins fit- too big for carry on- checked bag only. 27 inches tall- carry on max is 22 inches.
David C  To big to carry on, I believe, especially if loaded with a full set of gear. Not sure because I always check it, and carry on just my reg and camera gear. I use Hollis F-2s, which fit fine. But they're "travel-size" and a bit shorter
STEPHEN M  Very durable bag , have used mine for several years now and yes a pair of fins along with BC and all other dive gear fits easily. Bag way to large to be a carry on .
SUSAN H  I have used my bag for many dive (and non-diving) trips over the last 4-5 years but never tried it as a carry-on. I do not think it will meet size limitations. The fins fit perfectly, as does all my SCUBA gear. I stick the fins along both sides and there is plenty of room. It gets up to 50 pounds of weight pretty easily so I have to be careful about what else I add in. I love this bag and recommend it.
THOMAS H  Definitely will fit a pair of fins. Definitely will not work as a carry on. My wife and I share it when traveling with 2 sets of snorkel gear, wetsuits, and misc diving accessories. We then try to stuff in a couple of days worth of beach clothes as well in case our other bag goes missing.
MELANIE T  I believe it's much too large for a carry on. Fins fit in it just fine. More than one pair. :) My husband and I each have one and we pack all of our scuba gear as well as extras in it. We love this bag!!
RACHAEL I  It will fit fins and holds all my gear, clothes and more. It is too big for carry-on.
JOHN T  This bag is way too large for carry-on. I use it for a full set of gear, including OMS Slipstream fins, plus enough clothes for a liveaboard. If I keep it under 50lbs total there's still room for more.
GASPAR C  no & yes
RONALD F  It's too big to carry on - has to be checked. Yes, most fins will fit. We've had several dive bags over the years and this is definitely the best. It is lightweight and surprisingly roomy.
DON W  Checked bag only. Full set of fins fit. Hits near 50lbs with one full set of gear and clothes for a week
GARRY K  Checked bag only; this is not a carry-on. I have packed two pairs of fins, one being Apollo bio fins size large, along with the rest of my kit. I have to be careful when I pack, though, because I can exceed 50 lbs in the bag when I start dropping in more than the basic gear, e.g. extra flashlight, extra wetsuit, toolkit, etc.
CHRISTOPHER S  Fins fit nicely inside along the sides. However, this bag is WAY too large for carry-on.
VERONIKA L  Hi, Julie. Checked bag only. The size is too big for carry-on. You can check TSA website for dimensions requirements. Yes, it fits pair of fins. It fits all of the diving gear and clothing if you pack on a lighter side. We take computers and regs on the board in our carry-ons, though. Otherwise, great bag!
