About Suunto Zoop Air/Nitrox Wrist Computer

The ZOOP dice computer from Suunto is a wrist-mounted computer that will not only enhance your time under water; it will also help you be a safer diver without breaking the bank. Its ability to operate in two modes (air and Nitrox), safety features (decompression stop data, audible alarms, and easy-to-read display), and simple menus mean the ZOOP will provide critical dive data when it is needed quickly and accurately. It employs the reduced gradient bubble model (RGBM), which is an algorithm developed to calculate decompression stops; this algorithm is a model used to determine how much gas is accumulated during a dive and how much time is required at your safety stop(s) to safely surface.

Suunto's ZOOP is PC-compatible, so you can easily store your dive data (up to 50 hours) and logs on a PC. It is activated by water, so you don't have to worry about forgetting to start your computer and losing a single dive's valuable data.

Because this computer is wrist mounted, there's never a need to search for your gauge console when you want to check on your depth, maximum bottom time, dive time, and no deco time. All of that information is available at a moment's notice, right on your wrist In addition, the ZOOP's bright phosphorescent display makes seeing your dive data easy during night and day dives.

The Suunto Zoop Air/Nitrox Wrist Computer is commonly used for Cold Water, Recreation, Warm Water and more. The Suunto Zoop Air/Nitrox Wrist Computer is most used by customers who consider themselves to be a Advanced, Beginner, Casual/ Recreational, Professional among others. This is the same computer as the Gekko. The only difference is this computer supports PC download. However this is because the fact that many people were modifying Gekko computers to enable this feature. So if you're not interested in PC download, or interested in saving a few bucks look at flashing a Gekko (Google "Gekko2Viper").

Overall, this is a rock solid beginner computer. Although it has no backlight the display is bright and large enough to be viewable in every light condition. The menuing is friendly and intuitive. It is the easiest to use computer that I have ever encountered. I would HIGHLY recommend this computer for recreational divers.

The computer itself is reasonably easy to use with slightly confusing nested menus. Not a problem though. The separate cable connecting the unit to a PC is not so nice and make a very unreliable connection. The PC software is buggy and below average. Overall an OK piece of equipment for the price that is let down by its accessories.

Comments about Aqualung Suunto Zoop Air/Nitrox Wrist Computer:

The Zoop was very easy to set up. We watched the video a couple of times and we were ready to go. This was our first open water dive after certification. I was checking the zoop to the gauge on my BCD and they both always read the same on the depth. I wear glasses to read and the display is large enough to read without my glasses. The log book function is great as the information needed to fill out your log book is there (except the amount of air left in the tank after dive). We can not wait to go diving again and use the Zoop.

I purchased the Suunto Zoop as I had another brand that I found too difficult to navigate my way around the functions. The Suunto Zoop is a winner. I learnt to use it quickly, the instructions are simple to follow and the computer has all the necessary functions. It is easy to navigate around the functions and locate the needed information. I would highly recommend this computer. Jo
