Fairly new to diving and wanted to get a computer before our dives in April. Borrowed a Gecko for my wife and I decided to get the Vyper. Didn't need the backlight but it was nice to know I had it. The Vyper has a thicker (more protective) strap than the gecko has. Overall we were happy with both.

The computer so far has worked as advertised. The only problem with buying this computer from leisurepro is they are NOT an approved dealer. Thus, Suunto will not extend a warranty to Suunto equipment purchased from Leisurepro. Suunto products not purchased from an authorized dealer are considered, by Suunto, to be "grey merchandise". Leisurepro is specifically mentioned on Aqualung's website...they own Suunto.

Comments about Aqualung Suunto Vyper Wrist Computer with USB Cable, Silver:

I purchased the vyper for myself and my girlfriend 2 yrs ago, have used it on over 100 dives, and the batts are still going strong. I would have to say that the less tech savy (girlfriend) may find it complicated, but I find it rather easy to use. Its easy to read underwater but on the surface the protective display shield may fog up. The buttons are small and difficult to use at first, but over time you get use to it and navigating the menus becomes second nature. The backlit display is not so bright during daytime dives, but at night it is sufficient. Everything else works as advertised. Overall I would have to say this is a great recreational dive computer and would recommend it to anyone.

Comments about Aqualung Suunto Vyper Wrist Computer with USB Cable, Silver:

Solid conservative computer. Be aware that your dives won't last as long as with most other computer. This computer should be used by those who would rather have an extra layer of safety built in their dive profiles. I have over 300 dives on mine and I only recently changed the battery after about 5 years of use.

Purchased as a gift for my instructor. She has over 3,000 dives. She liked it because it it is easy to use, easy to read, dependable and not expensive. Thinking of buying one for myself. Negative to me is large size.
