About Suunto SK7 Wrist Compass

Many divers take compasses for granted, considering them just an accessory to an overall dive gauge console system. Trying to navigate with a poorly designed or improperly functioning compass can be one of diving's more frustrating events. The SK-7 has set a new standard for dive compasses. The superior SK-7 features an exceptional tilt potential of +/- 30° degrees, which is 2-3 times larger than in conventional diving compasses. The SK-7 Compass has easy-to-read numerals on a phosphorescent compass card, and a large side-reading window for gun-sight accurate navigation.

The firm-grip rotating bezel with a ratchet at every 5° degree is especially designed to prevent sand-and-dirt contamination, thus allowing smooth turning in all conditions. The compass bezel has compass headings in 30° degrees numbered increments and indicator marks for every 5° degrees. Bezel has twin heading indicators for alignment of compass course and a lubber line across the compass face. The compass is liquid filled for a quick and responsive movement. Durable rubber boot with adjustable wrist strap is easy to mount on wrist. Boot has side notch for side reading navigation. Compass comes with a user guide and is covered by a 24 month limited warranty.

Please note: The compass we sell is calibrated for Zone 1/NH (Northern Hemisphere)

This is the best wrist compass and a wrist compass is more accurate than a console as you can hold it in a repeatable position. When looking at a compass on a console it is difficult to impossible to hold it in the same orientation every time even the height that you mount the cylinder will affect the result as you have more or less hose so the console will sit at a slightly differant angle this means you will read a differing heading almost everytime. But with a wrist compass it you have the compass on your Left arm and take bearings when holding your right elbow you will be able to replicate the same possition every time.

I love the compass, it is easy to read in all conditions and isn't "picky" about being exactly level.I absolutely HATE the band though... Instead of using a buckle, it uses a fiddly "poke through the holes" setup which is REALLY hard to do one handed, especially when diving in cold weather and the rubber gets hard... this is one of the last things you put on, so basically you are pretty well geared up when putting it on, and fiddling with a band for 5 minutes to get it on is about the LAST thing I want to be doing.I am past the time where I can return it, so I am going to keep it until I can find a better band and then sell it [...].

Comments about Aqualung Suunto SK7 Wrist Compass:

The Suunto SK7 is an excellent compass! I tried a cheaper compass for navigation, and it was pretty picky on how much you could tilt it w/o getting stuck. However, the Suunto SK7 you don't have to really worry about keeping it level in order to get a good reading. Overall, I would recommend this product. Just be aware that the compass is pretty bulky. I believe this is a trade-off in order to having a compass that is easy to read.

Compass is great; good angle, easy to see.
However the strap is hard to operate. It's next to impossible to adjust it underwater while wearing gloves.

Comments about Aqualung Suunto SK7 Wrist Compass:

It is an excellent product; however, the strap is distractingly difficult to set in a perfect position, as Suunto chose an awkward strap style. However, with practice and finesse, you can overcome this and rely on it. A bungee alternative should be sought out ASAP to avoid frustration. For a little extra money, a retractable style is available.

Comments about Aqualung Suunto SK7 Wrist Compass:

After having significant issues with several Aeris and Sherwood compasses resulting from manufacturing issues and lack of tilt tolerance I purchased an SK-7. I don't have to pay attention to how level it is, if it looks remotely level it works. The band that comes with it is horrible for cold water diving as you can't get it over dry gloves, but is easily replaced with bungee or webbing making the perfect compass.

          Questions about this item:

Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
JAMES H  Works well ... easy to read even while in water with low VIZ. The strap is very difficult to tighten to my wrist due to the bad design. I need to have my dive buddy cinch it up. Over all I like the product but the wrist strap leaves much to be desired!!!
robert l  How do you bungee mount for wrist use?
Frank L  You would have to remove the rubber strap, and then put the bungee thru the same holes where the wrist strap went, then tie it in a square knot to the desired length for your wrist circumference. Leave enough room for wetsuit or drysuit.
Shopper  2 questions please: - Are new Suunto's SK7's zone specific? Their website only mentions NH and SH. - If they are zone-specific, do you carry zone 2's? Thanks!
Frank L  They are zone specific, and these are for the northern hemisphere. We do not carry the southern hemisphere version.
