What's the difference between the Squeeze Lock Knife, Blunt and the Tanto tip?
Steve S
The blunt tip is exactly that. It is flat and there is no real tip. The tanto tip has a sharp tip on it.

The blunt tip has no sharp edge on the end.The tanto tip has a slight angle and a sharp edge.

Blunt is like a flat blade screw driver, good for prying or using the tip of the knife for a tool (the cutting sharp edge is behind the blunt tip), On the Tanto tip I like the idea of the cutting edge of the knife comes all the way out to the point but it does not have a pointed tip like a conventional knife so I feel I am less likely to stick myself or my equipment with it. I looked around before replacing my old dive knife this one seemed to suit me the best, the Titanium is light and doesn’t rust and holds a sharp edge which is nice if you actually need a knife underwater (no way to sharpen it down there), the size is perfect to put on your BC shoulder strap and the squeeze lock is secure but is simple to release if you need your knife. I now have 2 of these I liked my so much I bought the wife one.

Blunt is like a chisel, sharp but flat (90 degree angle to the main blades). If you're clumsy it helps avoid BCD/drysuit punctures. The opposite is a drop point/stiletto, the standard pointy knife best for quickly dispatching fish (i.e. freediving). Tanto tip splits the difference. Originally used for fighting knives, the tip is cut at a 45 degree angle to the straight blade, allowing for a longer slice with straight edge, still has a point, but less likely to accidentally puncture. I find it the best compromise and am very happy with the SMALL Wenoka tanto squeeze lock knife. Definitely go titanium, and no need for a big one. However I also carry scissors as main cutting tool for cutting line, they come out a lot more than the knife.

The Blunt tip is completely flat where as the Tanto has a slight angle. I selected the Tanto for my BC because it does have a edge on the tip where as he Blunt tip does not. If you select the Tanto tip and are using this as a BC mount you do need to pay attention when returning it to the sheath.

The tanto tip actually has a sharp edge on the flat end of the knife. I have the tanto, not the blunt, so I am guessing that is the difference. I have been very happy with this knife. If spearfishing, though, I switch to a pointed tip knife.
