Great computer. I'm very happy with this purchase. The ascent monitor is very conservative (33ft / min) vs. recommended limit of 60ft / min. Be a SAFE diver though - so the slower the better. The recommended and mandatory safety stops are great. No fly countdown is great. Deco mode functionality is very good too. Definitely go with the QD option so you can take the unit off your BC for logging dives, travel, security, etc.
I did have some problems with the unit leaking from the QD connection.... Good thing I checked the unit before I dived with it. I believe this was Leisure Pro's fault. I had to basically separate the QD from the computer and noticed that the grease they used near the o-ring had dried up and was flaking off. It was making a air-tight complete seal impossible. After cleaning it, everything was fine.
I have used (and replaced) this computer for 15 years. It is very conservative which is good. I don't recommend the QD (quick disconnect) which is mostly unnecessary and something else that can go wrong. I prefer the "card compass" as opposed to the electronic compass, but you do have treat it carefully (don't bang it around too much) or the card will come off the spindle.

Hi Gabriel,Thank you Joe, we received in March 2018 from Suunto i would assume it is manufacturer date around 2017. It is a brand new unit with manufacturer warranty and btw an awesome computer. Dive dive dive!!!
JOE S
Correction. The first answer was based on the Cobra 3 by mistake. The Cobra in this listing is generation one and has been around for much longer. It is no longer listed in the Suunto catalog as a current model
JOE S
It is a current model and has been around for approximately 4 to 5 years.

Does this come with a hose? I realize this is not the quick disconnect model...
PAUL H
Yes. It includes the High pressure hose to connect to your first-stage reg.
JOE S
It does include a hose.
WILLIAM W
Yes, it includes a hose, but it's not a quick disconnect one.
MIKE C
I bought one and it included a hose.
ARTHUR C
Yes

Can I remove the mechanical compass from a dead Suunto 2 computer and install it in this new Suunto?
RYAN G
The case is open able and computer removable but there is nowhere to install a compass
JOE S
The Cobra computer does not have a space for an analog compass. an extra compass housing made for this computer would be needed to replace the clip attachment at the top of this particular housing.
RONALD M
Thanks for your very clear answer. I do have a non-functioning Suunto with the compass housing and perhaps will make this swap of housing. My old Suunto always thinks it is at 400+ feet when placed in the diving mode. From reading reviews I have lots of company with that problem. I've used Suuntos since my first Mosquito years ago and probably will give another one a go.
Shawn P
You would have to install the new Suunto into the compass housing. The computer inside the housing is the same for both housing models.
TARA H
Yes
DANNY W
Is this computer removable from the hose?
MARGARET H
it is NOT a quick connect....but you can change the hose.
JOE S
This particular Cobra model computer does not have a quick disconnect on it. You would have to remove it by detaching the threaded HP hose.
MIKE C
This specific one is not removable. Suunto does have a model that includes a quick disconnect but it is more expensive. That quick disconnect includes several o-rings that have to be maintained every 2 years and I consider it another point of potential failure. I did not get one for those reasons and recommend that you not get a quick disconnect.
RICHARD K
no , I put a quick disconnect fittings on my regulator and end of the hose to accomplish that
ARTHUR C
Nope. Its "Air Integrated " which makes the hose essential.
DANNY W
Understood,
Question was actually if it can be removed for storage from the hose
